The details regarding the setting up of their foundation/charity have a ring of truth imo.
They did not want to be financially accountable but the palace trumped that by making it a charity and subject to charity law.

Fine, but then don’t sign up to that role in the first place. That’s what the job was. She chose to marry in. Nobody forced her.

We could have saved all the fuss of their OTT ‘spectacle’ wedding that she untruthfully claimed wasn’t even the real thing, but which gave her a chance to invite all the slebs she hadn’t met before and who seem to have dropped them now.

Being married to a royal doesn't have to be a job if you don't want it. I wouldn't say any of them work anyway. You can't call that a job.
Being married to Harry doesn't mean they have to do what you or the establishment wants. They were given a choice, they chose each other and left.

Whether she 'works' for the RF or not, SHE CAN still marry him and she did. You and the all the bottom feeders who hate her didn't have to watch.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex did exchange symbolic vows in private days before their official legal wedding in St George's Chapel. Perhaps you are waiting for one of the 'Royal experts' or Arbiters of the UK to announce it before you can believe it.

I don't understand the obsession with a woman you clearly hate. How do you have that much time in your life to post such diatribe about someone you have never met and clearly do not like? It's unhealthy.

MissMarpleRocks · 17/07/2022 13:14

It’s not particularly well written is it? However I do agree if don’t want the job don’t sign up for it in the first place.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 17/07/2022 13:32

I've only seen an extract in the Times that appeared to be malicious shitstirring but if the actual book is like the 2 of his I read - Dangerous Hero and the Charles one - it'll be pure twaddle. The DH book was eye-rollingly ridiculous (and I think Corbyn is a total twit so I certainly wouldn't defend him) and I only read the Charles book because I'd already bought it before I read Dangerous Hero, no way would I have bothered otherwise.

Do Meghan haters really have nothing better to do that dredge out petty insignificant details about things like wedding invite lists from years ago?

Not even true, the only American celebs present were Oprah (still friends) Serena Williams (close friends with Meghan for years and years), and George and Amal Clooney (reportedly invited by Harry).

What's next, are they going to drag out the time she wore nail varnish again.

But why do you care? They've only spent the odd day in this country so they're not affected by anything in the uk. All the publicity they leak say they're happy in the US, are making millions, are influential and good friends with the American elite including the Obamas, are doing lots of good works and charitable deeds. Nothing can really touch them, can it? Certainly nothing about nail varnish and wedding invitees. I would think for many Americans, their status would be improved by having Whinfrey, Williams and Clooney at the wedding. So what does any of that matter? There's nothing particularly new but some of the details on manoeuvring are interesting and revealing of character and motivations.

Those Times articles are eye opening.

As a mixed race person I reject the idea of being automatically racist if you don’t like Meghan or find her very disingenuous.

Tillsforthrills · 17/07/2022 14:20

I do suspect some literally rabid defenders of M with the same old tropes and one liners on every thread that questions her are, how can I say…

MM is desperate for publicity, yearning to be seen as some sort of saviour whilst sitting pretty in her millionaire mansion causing scandals and throwing legal battles that don’t portray her as representing the ‘lesser ones’ of society. Please!

There you go. Works both ways.

We'll be back to avocados, coat flicking and grinning in church before you know it. Grin

Has anyone accused anybody on this thread of being racist? No. Hmm

Are you having a laugh ? The allegation is made time after time. Anything less than 100% approval of Meghan and all her endeavours is regarded as racism.

Roussette · 17/07/2022 15:12

Show me on this thread then?

I don't doubt there is and has been racism accusations on threads, but never has anyone said that every single poster who dislikes MM is racist.

I know from memory that you know that full well Roussette, perhaps you have conveniently forgotten.

id hardly class people as rabid Meghan haters because they point out any of her indiscretions for gods sake

Granted, I know she has been the subject of racism but it has been used to shout down anyone who questions her.

PeekAtYou · 17/07/2022 15:32

Maybe not on this thread but I have seen people on this forum say that criticising/not liking M means that you are racist. You may conveniently not see these posts but they do exist here.

I've also seen people say that being mixed race means that she's telling the truth. I'm mixed race and can confirm that we sometimes lie too.

LondonWolf · 17/07/2022 15:32

Has anyone accused anybody on this thread of being racist? No.

Makes a change. Every other thread about Meghan is full of accusations of racism and they're usually deleted on those grounds.

Serena has denied being a friend of Meghan's. She says that they are mere acquaintances.

But it's OK to label us as 'rabid defenders'. for gods sake
Ok. Got you.

Because we don't agree with the vitriolic criticism, we're 'rabid defenders'. I never coined that term, someone else did. I was just pointing out the other side of the coin.

Granted, I know she has been the subject of racism but it has been used to shout down anyone who questions her

Not by me. There are some posters who just don't like her. End of. And there are some posters who are so obviously in the racist camp and I can tell who they are.
That is not directed at you by the way, I am speaking in general.

Roussette · 17/07/2022 15:42

Ahhh yes... the Mirror saying this. Taken from the Tom Bower book.

Serena calling Meghan 'her selfless friend' in interview.

www.womenshealthmag.com/life/a35766137/serena-williams-meghan-markle-support-friendship/

And there's other interviews of her saying this too.
I think I'd rather listen to what Serena Williams say

HinchcliffeandMurgatroyd · 17/07/2022 15:49

I wish the two juvenile poles would just pipe down for a day. It’s so boring to wade through pages of fixed-position fanaticism to get to the grown up discussion.

Where has Serena actually said this as it isn't true?
It's like saying the woman William cheated with has denied being Kate's friend saying they are mere acquaintances.
It must be very difficult living with so much hatred for someone you do not know.
Speculation after speculation and lies upon lies.

BalloonSlayer · 17/07/2022 15:51

Serena Williams attended Meghan's baby shower.

Just speaking personally but I'd have to be a bloody good friend of someone's to endure attending one of those!

Serena has denied being a friend of Meghan's. She says that they are mere acquaintances.

"“Meghan Markle, my selfless friend, lives her life–and leads by example–with empathy and compassion. She teaches me every day what it means to be truly noble,” wrote Williams in a Notes App statement. “Her words illustrate the pain and cruelty she’s experienced.”

Referring to her own struggle in the spotlight, Williams added, “I know first hand the sexism and racism institutions and the media use to vilify women and people of color to minimize us, to break us down, and demonize us. We must recognize our obligation to decry malicious, unfounded gossip and tabloid journalism. The mental health and consequences of systemic oppression and victimization are devastating, isolating, and all too often lethal."

Icedbannoffee · 17/07/2022 16:11

I think it's unfortunate that instead of just leaving to create a new life for their family they proceeded to speak about the RF which has invariably caused this toxic cesspool of gossip. I don't think anything of anyone involved but some of the stuff that's been said that's been proven to be untrue makes it fair game really.
