Apologies if I missed one elsewhere (or have they been deleted)

I had forgotten about the Nazi photos, and the other comments. Evidently so had he.

(Vague as probably will be deleted)

Link? Can’t see anything

Sirzy · 13/07/2022 07:45

so basically people digging up very old news in order to try to make him look bad now. Zzzzz

picklemewalnuts · 13/07/2022 07:46

What's triggered it? I mean, old news, sure, but there's generally a reason to dig it up and air it.

I'm not interested in old news, I'm vaguely interested in what it's linked to.

AllKnowingGerbil · 13/07/2022 07:47

Must be a slow news day on twitter.

Iamsnoopy · 13/07/2022 07:51

I can’t see anything. It was shocking at the time but the rhetoric changed as in PH blamed his older brother for helping to choose it and the pals he was with for finding it hilarious. He said he was brought up in the structure of racism and looking back finds it abhorrent.

I don’t think he has ever forgotten it but he didn’t ‘lose his job over it’ as he couldn’t - however he says he educated himself after. Not sure people forgive and forget.

parenthood1989 · 13/07/2022 07:57

So vague nobody knows what you mean?

TreePoser · 13/07/2022 07:58

Harry dressed as a nazi? Old news.

parenthood1989 · 13/07/2022 07:59

Ah ok, I see. The racist thing - well let's be fair, he grew up surrounded by racists. M

KatherineJaneway · 13/07/2022 08:12

I can't see it trending on Twitter either

PeekAtYou · 13/07/2022 08:17

H and M are making a speech at the UN for a Nelson Mandela day.

kewgirl · 13/07/2022 08:38

Why are you surprised
Most people have far more interesting things in their lives
I could not care less about Twatter
As for wearing a nazi outfit who cares
To suggest it makes him a nazi is utterly infantile and is exactly why I do not bother with twatter Fb insa etc it is full of morons
I recently wore a Roman Legion outfit to a fancy dress party
It doe snot mean I am a hype violent person who supports the Romans killing 1000's of people
Someone else was dressed as a zombie
I doubt he is in favour of killing and eating people
If you want to be offended by everything you will spend a lot of time being offended

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 13/07/2022 08:52

It was nearly 20 years ago, of course people have forgotten! The Family have done worse than a swastika arm band

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 13/07/2022 09:00

I’m not a fan if cancel culture. People should be able to make mistakes, take responsibility for their actions, apologise and move on.

Beefcurtains79 · 13/07/2022 09:00

It wasn’t his Nazi outfit that was even considered that bad was it? It was the fact that he went on to call a member of his squadron a p* wasn’t it?

MrsRobinsonsHandprints · 13/07/2022 09:19

PeekAtYou · 13/07/2022 08:17

H and M are making a speech at the UN for a Nelson Mandela day.

Yes this is the reason it is now trending, the hypocrisy of it.

I don't care if it was 20years ago, no one should excuse or find it acceptable. He also used a slur against a friend, told a commedien 'he doesn't sound black' and said about his South African girlfriend 'she's not black or anything '

It is still in trending for me but I'm outside of the UK, it was trending in the UK early this morning maybe it has been removed as I've now seen variation of the hash tag.

Flop I do agree with you. But if the person that made the mistake is unable to forgive another making a mistake then I'm not so sure.

Kewgirl because Harry with all his preaching should remember 'he who is without sin cast the first stone'

Is it ok to dress up as a Nazi for the singalonga sound of music? People do.

If it was the culture to call people p* then the whole army should be apologising, not just one individual. He can't carry the can for them all.

Is he now ultra aware of racist micro aggressions? Damn yes! Would he have had the foggiest 15 years ago, I very much doubt it. I certainly wasn't.

We all learn and move on.

Of course we can campaign about things we've changed our mind about. Ex Smokers get to campaign for tighter restrictions, despite having despised the infringement on their freedoms while they still smoked.

Georgeskitchen · 13/07/2022 11:20

I'm not a fan of the new woke Prince Harry but seriously this has been done to death. It was years ago. He's apologised and moved on. Maybe everyone else should as well. I wonder how perfect all those are criticising his past behaviour!!

dreamingbohemian · 13/07/2022 11:28

If you look at the people who are using that hashtag, you will see descriptors like:

'Just as #JussieSmollett and #AmberHeard were exposed, I’m committed to exposing #MeghanMarkle’s lies, pretentious, and wicked conduct.'

'A Confident Conservative woman, staying true to herself and standing for what's Right.'

'Loyal to Real Royalty, God Bless The Queen, Sussexes Stay Out'

In other words, the political right-wing/nationalist/royalist types who are normally always ranting about cancel culture and woke-ism. Except suddenly now they ARE in favour of using things from 20 years ago to 'cancel' someone, for transparently hypocritical reasons.

Harry has said and done racist things. But he has apologised and put the work in to become a better person. Unlike the rest of his family.

Whilst people might not have been aware of micro aggressions 15 years ago, I’m pretty sure everyone knew using the P word was a disgusting, abhorrent racial slur.

picklemewalnuts · 13/07/2022 12:50

Right but like the recent cricket club stuff, it was the culture of the group at the time. I'm sure he didn't walk into a group of men and suddenly start throwing racial slurs around. The army has a (bad?) habit of embracing slurs as nicknames.
