It has been reported today that he has tested positive for covid for the second time. He seemed pretty ill the first time around, so hope it doesn't take so long this time for him to get better.

Ah ok. But if it’s not a healthcare setting then it’s not a legal requirement. Or is it not in England?

MonAlana · 13/02/2022 01:33

@SickAndTiredAgain

And of course he doesn't wear a mask. The normal rules and laws do not apply to Royals. They do basically what they want.

While I appreciate your general sentiment, no one legally has to wear a mask now. So he isn’t using a special privilege to not wear one anymore.

When he had covid the first time he didn't follow rules either. He was out and about before anyone else would have been allowed to - not only that, he went to meet people and visit a fe Nightingale Hospitals.

I love the rewriting of history on this thread with posters claiming everyone in UK have been paragons of virtue wearing their masks but Prince Charles doesn't (shock horror). No, people in UK have been appallingly bad at complying with mask-wearing even when it was a legal requirement.

Monopolyiscrap · 13/02/2022 20:21

@daisychain01 I found most older people did comply with mask wearing.
But remember when Charles is at events, he is usually working. If I broke the law at work I would risk being sacked.

My experience was the opposite to yours @Monopolyiscrap my DH and I frequently saw "older people" walking around the supermarket with their mask underneath their chin.

daisychain01 · 13/02/2022 20:30

Plus significant numbers of people claimed exemption of some description without ever being asked to prove it.

Fwiw I still wear my mask even now, mainly because it keeps my face warm Grin

Monopolyiscrap · 13/02/2022 20:35

The people I saw not wearing masks most were middle-aged men and teenage boys.
But I do think a Royal Family member at an official visit has a responsibility to set a good example. The Royal Family never do though.

Googling shows he self isolated for seven days which was following guidelines at the time.

For goodness sake, he's got Covid and he's isolating. As far as we know he's followed the rules of late, except for @BatshitCrazyWoman knowing of an occasion where he hasn't - but she can't give any information on it. Hmm

I volunteer at a vaccination centre and I agree with what you say, about middle-aged men and boys being the worst non mask wearers. They all put one on when requested, although I do often have to be the schoolmistress, and suggest they wear it over their nose and mouth, not under their chin. Idiots!

He travelled to Scotland while feeling unwell. He didn’t remotely follow the rules in that respect.

Cherriesarethebest · 21/02/2022 14:33

Why is anyone surprised by the royals behaving badly?
The scales have surely fallen from our eyes by now.

smilesy · 21/02/2022 18:57

He travelled to Scotland while feeling unwell. He didn’t remotely follow the rules in that respect.

He did but he actually travelled on the same day that the government advised staying in your primary residence, and the day before lockdown. Given that things were a little woolly at that time, he may well have got away with it by the skin of his teeth. Also at that time, testing was sporadic. He was only tested after he arrived. Being unwell at that time did not necessarily mean it was Covid.
