Statement issued by Archewell raising concerns about Spotify . If H and M decide to jump ship ( before - possibly- being pushed) there will be a lot of money to repay . Interesting .

Since the inception of Archewell, we have worked to address the real-time global misinformation crisis

Does anyone know what they've actually done ? The article (quoting their statement) mentions only that they have been in touch with Spotify. But they don't describe anything else. So has anyone clocked what theirbwork on this is?

Statement
"Since the inception of Archewell, we have worked
to address the real-time global misinformation
crisis. Hundreds of millions of people are affected
by the serious harms of rampant mis- and
disinformation every day. Last April, our co-
founders began expressing concerns to our
partners at Spotify about the all too real
consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its
platform. We have continued to express our
concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its
platform are made to help address this public
health crisis. We look to Spotify to meet this
moment and are committed to continuing our work together as it does “

And what have they done ?

A few letters to Spotify don't count as 'work' do they? So what's the rest? (I'm assuming it's US-centric, which is why it's not really be noticeable here)

Chilledchablis1 · 30/01/2022 13:13

@ WinnieTheW0rm
I agree and wondered if this statement is being issued to cover them if the whole deal falls through .

I suspect they’ve had very little money so far- these things are usually based on delivery of content and the overall headline sum includes production costs. Since they’ve delivered precisely one podcast so far, the initial signing payment will be pretty much all they’ve had. This is an elegant jump before pushed.
They have remained remarkably quiet about Spotify’s own investment into AI weapons technology which is far more directly controversial than the views of one of their contributors- they don’t give a shiny shit about Spotify policies but they’re also failing to deliver what’s been contracted so suddenly a bandwagon they can get behind!

Wizzbangfizz · 30/01/2022 14:15

God they are so out of touch I'm actually embarrassed for them

Ponyo001 · 30/01/2022 14:33

That Archewell name is so shite, sounds like a brand of night storage heater from 1965.

Billandben444 · 30/01/2022 15:42

Presumably they get paid a certain amount on delivery of each podcast (or whatever) so there won't be any money to pay back if they decide to cancel the deal.

rubicscubicle · 30/01/2022 19:34

What do you expect them to do? Cancel their contract because of Rogan who is the highest paid person on Spotify.

They criticised him last year already, more than once.

Now there are more voices, so we will see if Spotify still sticks with him or not. They probably will.

Seems like everyone is looking to Harry and Meghan when Spotify is full of popular artists.

Maybe Harry should be careful what comes out of HIS mouth……

Harry doesn't mention Joe Rogan in any of the articles you've linked. Do you have a transcript including the quote referring to Joe Rogan?

rubicscubicle · 30/01/2022 21:31

Don't know what you think you are trying to prove, since the articles, do say it was about Rogan.

Here he is talking, no need for a transcript.

LittleBearPad · 30/01/2022 21:32

Do you think Spotify will miss the one episode of their podcast?

ajandjjmum · 31/01/2022 09:47

I suspect they've been shamed into making the statement by others putting their money where their mouth is!

niveaessential · 31/01/2022 14:07

they're probably finding it hard to get talent to work with them on any type of projects. I bet most scripts or content pitched to them is about the royal family in some way, which I'm sure they reject.

cherryonthecakes · 31/01/2022 14:10

Spotify has hired/is hiring people to work on the Sussex podcast. Job adverts were spotted about 10 days ago. Presumably this is to nail down some sort of content from the Sussexes.

Harry is giving a lecture on productivity at a Better Up event tomorrow 😂

cherryonthecakes · 31/01/2022 14:12

Has he ever commented on this?

BringBackThinEyebrows · 31/01/2022 18:37

@rubicscubicle

I'd never heard of the source for 2 of the articles. I've heard of Men's Health. None of them have a quote from Harry actually mentioning the guy by name. I just like to get the full context.

Thanks for linking the video. As a side note, I didn't realise Harry dropped his 't's.

rubicscubicle · 31/01/2022 19:27

What more is there for him to comment on. That was his comment. British media taking him out of context as usual.

He was. referring to how people are there for each other. He said as tough as times are during Covid, people are actually there for each other.

Where did you dig this old story out from.

Another drummed up one.

Spotify (one of their production arm, Gimlet) were the ones who produced the first podcast. So assuming that H&M may have wanted more women/people of colour etc.

H&M never said how much their contract is worth or any obligations that go with it. So it's quite possible that they told Spotify that they are growing a family and will do 3 (or any number of )podcasts in 5yrs or whatever. What we do know is that Spotify has never set out any complaints or fired H&M for not sticking to their contract. If anything it looks as if they have a relationship of listening to them.

Different people do different things with different podcasts on Spotify. Michelle Obama was said to have millions worth of a contract, but she only had to do 13 episodes. Rogan has to do a daily contributions. Depends on what you negotiated.

Don't know what you mean by Better Up, who have accredited Harry for their success.

Productivity? What does Harry know about that? Seriously?
rubicscubicle · 01/02/2022 08:27

He knows Sentebale and Invictus are productive and successful.

smilesy · 01/02/2022 08:51

Mainly because they got a lot of publicity due to his celebrity.

He knows Sentebale and Invictus are productive and successful.

I know that PepsiCo, Microsoft and many other companies are productive and successful. I wouldn’t be remotely qualified to give a lecture about productivity based on that knowledge.

rubicscubicle · 01/02/2022 09:13

well they are not your projects though, are they.

Do you even work there? How random.

madisonbridges · 01/02/2022 09:16

Seems like everyone is looking to Harry and Meghan when Spotify is full of popular artists.*

No one was looking at H&M! This was led by musical artists like Neil Young. There's talk that there's been a mass exodus from Spotify but as far as I can see it's just Neil Young and Joni Mitchell so far. H&M are just tagging along for publicity. That's all they can do because they haven't actually done or achieved anything yet.
