www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/01/17/meghan-markle-complains-bbc-podcast-claim-apologised-misleading/

She has complained to the BBC that he said on the podcast that she “misled the court” in the Daily Mail case.

I thought she apologised for misleading the court and insisted it was inadvertent?

AR’s BBC documentary seemed quite pro-Sussex, so this is confusing.

I hadn’t heard of the podcast but will have a listen now. (Streisand effect rides again,)

Is there some difference between British and American English that might explain this? I cannot figure it out,

@EvilPea

Fuck me. What a miserable life they must lead. Constantly spending their life moaning about everyone and everything.

Keep your head down, get on with good stuff. Ignore the rest

Didn't Prince Philip tell a biographer that if he had sued at every incorrect story and rumour he would have been fed up with it, so best just to get on with life? (Not his exact words but you get the drift.)
Samcro · 18/01/2022 10:07

strange that A gets stripped and suddenly all these non stories for people to froth over.....
makes you wonder

Chilledchablis1 · 18/01/2022 10:14

@ Samcro

Not sure I agree with you . Just checked DM and lead story is that neither A nor H will receive Jubilee medals and BOTH are to be stripped of their Counsellor of State status . M story is near the bottom of the page .
Nothing about either A or H on BBC front page .

Soffit · 18/01/2022 10:21

I don't think she is very nice to her starriest eyed promoters. Didn't she take a swipe at Scobie a few months ago?

Samcro · 18/01/2022 11:02

awful that H is being treated the same as A, says a lot really.

A hasn’t been found guilty of anything yet. Try remembering that
Georgeskitchen · 18/01/2022 11:23

I am sure H&M would be much happier if they just followed the Royal Family ethos "never complain, never explain" What a shame they have to keep heaping anxiety upon an elderly lady who has recently lost her husband and has a son who is facing allsorts of lurid allegations.

Queen or not, she is still human like the rest of us

Samcro · 18/01/2022 11:24

so he didn't keep company with convicted sexual abusers?
my mistake.

smilesy · 18/01/2022 12:16

Andrew and Harry have both been stripped of their military patronages but for entirely different reasons, Samcro. Harry couldn’t in any practical way remain in his Military appointments whilst living abroad. Andrew has rightly been stripped of his because he is a complete disgrace and could in no way expect any sort of respect from the military. So although it is the same result it is for very different reasons. I don’t think they are being compared to each other.

Soffit · 18/01/2022 12:37

Harry: manchild, petulant, big on blaming and exposing family members
Andrew: creepy former hebophile, made unwise choices during an era when he ought to have got away with it ( but evidently has not), reasonably loyal to family
Both: immature for age, pleasure seeking above duty

This is the first time I am hearing this story. The BBC podcast was released over a week ago. Why this story now?

I think the one dug up from September regarding Harry' security backfired, as too many people agreed that he needs security etc.

So now time for another angle to narrate that H&M are turning on those who are not particularly vile to them.

I wonder what non-story they will come up with tomorrow, because so far, this one is not taking off as quickly as they thought.

Remember, the torygraph is part of the rota.

rubicscubicle · 18/01/2022 12:48

@Zonder

Goodness knows but I wish they would just get on with their lives like they said they wanted to.
They are getting on with their lives.

Yesterday they were feeding people for Martin Luther King day.

Maybe the British press can report on that if they want to talk about H&M. But I won't hold my breath.

smilesy · 18/01/2022 13:01

@rubicscubicle. You can start breathing. It’s in several papers newsfeeds.

Yay. I didn’t want to be the OP of a thread with a suffocation death on it. Smile

UserBot999 · 18/01/2022 13:14

She's mad drawing attention to it. She did have to apologise for misleading the court. She did omit to give the facts.

What on earth is she doing here, it's like she's trying to gaslight the public's memory. I am reminded of Donald Trump. He just sticks to his own narrative regardless.

Well I said I wont hold my breath. I didn't say I'm holding my breath Smile

''Didn't Prince Philip tell a biographer that if he had sued at every incorrect story and rumour he would have been fed up with it, so best just to get on with life? (Not his exact words but you get the drift.)''

yeh, and in my own unpublicised world, I have to remind myself of this. What other people think of me is none of my business. Sometimes you have to be ok with people not knowing your side of the story. Those who matter won't mind, those who mind don't matter. etc...

It's tough when you're on the receiving end of what feels like a smear campaign (my mother is my biggest detractor) but you eventually have to just accept that you can't control other people's opinions of you. Just live within your own values. Know that you're happy with you.

This is for H&M obviously.

Crime-committing royals should be more concerned with what the public think of them, not less.

PreparationPreparationPrep · 18/01/2022 13:48

I mean, it is fairly obvious that the posting behaviour of some folk, even on MN, is pretty interesting when it comes to suddenly appearing and vociferously defending them.

Confused the irony of this - from the opposite angle I guess you could
say the same about the posting behaviour of some MN who are vociferous in continuously trawling SM for any minor news from anywhere to start a thread about H&M. Particularly that they make it very clear they do not like them. It's very odd to have any let alone so much time to think about a couple that you apparently don't like for whatever reason.

Samcro · 18/01/2022 14:07

@PreparationPreparationPrep so true.
the only place I hear stuff about them is on here. by the very people who say they dislike them.
(ok I do see the occasional, kate hates meghan, or visa versa in trashy mags like Heat)

Figgygal · 18/01/2022 14:13

I have been listening to this this week and thought it was very sympathetic to them bet Amol wishes he hadnt bothered (though am sure any listens generated by it wont harm him)

Pootlepoodle · 18/01/2022 14:18

I think it’s easy to look at this from the outside and wonder why Meghan doesn’t just “shrug it off” and “enjoy her vast wealth, children and general good fortune”.

But why should she? She clearly has a crusader mindset and if that is what brings purpose to her life then who is anyone to judge her for that?

There's crusader mindset and then there's wanting meticulous control of a narrative. I kind of understand her a bit. I was like this in my twenties. Couldn't bear not to get my side out there and always desperate to correct any "mistakes". I grew out of though and am far happier for it. I think she and H encourage each other in this mindset and I think it will ultimately cause great unhappiness. They don't seem to have anyone around them with their best interests at heart - they've cut everyone off - no family telling them to let it go and get a grip. Lawyers and PR will do what they're told as long as the money keeps rolling in. I'd love to be a fly on the wall after their lawyer or PR rep has put the phone down after the latest rant.
Pootlepoodle · 18/01/2022 14:35

I understand her a bit too. It must be hugely overwhelming to suddenly become one of the most famous people in the entire world, have your every word and move scrutinised, criticised, not to mention dealing with all sorts of unjustified attacks on the way you hold your bump to being accused of fuelling human right abuses because you are known to eat avocados.

I think it is entirely understandable that she might be traumatised and bruised as a result, and want to control the narrative of her own life and experiences.
