The judge won't dismiss the case.

The BBC has just said that he has three choices:

  • settle out of court
  • defer, which means the ruling will automatically go against him
  • go to trial.

I can't see that any of those options will be attractive to him and he will have to finally face the consequences of his behaviour.

I think he does try to go for a settlement he will look guilty

He is well and truly in a tight corner with no safe place to run this is exactly what he deserves

Let’s see how the royal pr machine play this.

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 12/01/2022 17:01

I am not supporting him but why should the others get away with it because of the agreement and settlement made with JE.

AllThePogs · 12/01/2022 17:18

Virginia has said she will not settle. It takes both sides to settle, so if Virginia does not agree to that, it goes to court.
The Queen removed Andrew's diplomatic immunity last year.
Civil cases have been used in the past to expose evidence that was covered up. Yes a different country, but look at Hillsborough. The civil case revealed a lot of evidence the families had not seen before.

This case will take place while the Jubilee Celebrations are happening.

AllThePogs · 12/01/2022 17:18

And I agree, this should not have been moved to the quiet Royal Family section. It is a big news story.

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 12/01/2022 17:20

Let it go to Court then if she doesn't want to settle, there may be things that she doesn't want bought up but both have the right to a fair court hearing. What a bunch of sleazebags.

CovidCorvid · 12/01/2022 17:21

So if she won’t settle and it goes to court…..if he’s found guilty will they lock him up?

StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 12/01/2022 17:22

they can't lock people up when it's a civil case. they can find him guilty though.
AllThePogs · 12/01/2022 17:22

No it is a civil case. But evidence revealed during a civil case can be used to launch a criminal case.

AllThePogs · 12/01/2022 17:24

I expect to see even more trashing of Virginia now. Lots of victim-blaming etc. It is usual in a case like this to try and get public support.

Mrsjayy · 12/01/2022 17:27

Sadly I think shemight be used to the "blame" and ready for it.

Viviennemary · 12/01/2022 17:27

I agree it shouldn't be moved to royal. Any more than BJ's antics should be moved to politics. As they are both fighting to be the top story of the day.

BlackAlys · 12/01/2022 17:28

@OhWhyNot

It’s not a Royal topic it’s a headline news !

Very good news his arrogance is astounding

I don’t think his mother will bail him out

Agreed.

@MNHQ. Why are you yet again taking this topic off the mainstream boards? It's almost as if you want this to remain out of the public eye.

BlackAlys · 12/01/2022 17:29

What exactly do you mean by that?
AllThePogs · 12/01/2022 17:52

@BlackAlys I ignored that. It is pure victim blaming. Get raped and trafficked and some will call you sleazy.

Crumbs22 · 12/01/2022 18:02

I wouldn't be surprised if VG wants to go to trial for whatever reasons she has. This time I really don't see how PA will avoid that since he has limited funds if reports that HM is not financing his lawyers are true. I do believe that the law should be applied equally to everyone regardless of title and if there is a case to answer then he should stand trial.

user1363157897422457887532356 · 12/01/2022 18:06

Well, as the BBC has pointed out - if he settles, he looks bad. If he is cross-examined, he also looks bad.

Either way, a modicum of justice will be served.

MadameFantabulosa · 12/01/2022 18:07

I bet he’s sweating now!

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 12/01/2022 18:17

I did not say she was sleazy. It goes to Court, they both have a right to put their case and evidence across, both may be uncomfortable with what gets discussed, they will both be asked questions that they may not wish to answer. Not everyone can deal with that when the time comes. Sorry if I offended you.

AllThePogs · 12/01/2022 18:21

Virginia will be prepared for that. And the lawyers have already been throwing victim-blaming narratives at her.

Prescottdanni123 · 12/01/2022 18:39

I don't think the Queen will bail him out. From what I've heard he is selling his ski chalet.

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 12/01/2022 18:42

When I successfully sued someone I agreed to a settlement an hour before my case was heard, I got the collywobbles and just couldn't go through with it. If he is innocent he will have nothing to worry about, his reputation is in tatters anyway and he should pay his own costs out of his own earned money.

Zilla1 · 12/01/2022 18:44

My understanding is that before the live court case, depositions may be taken which are recorded question and answer sessions that can be quite forensic and during which obfuscation or mistakes can have consequences. The BBC talked up the competence of the lawyer who might lead on this who was involved in the Microsoft settlement back in the day.

Interesting it is reported PA was allegedly overdue with a payment to the vendor of the Verbier chalet and was in a position of having to settle the suit and make the £3m payment before he was in a position to sell the chalet. It appears the vendor might have already offered an option to make stage payments then extended the deadline for the final payment before seeking redress. Perhaps indicative there are limits to the support available.

Do come and join us on the prince Andrew 3 thread. Bring popcorn!!

Maireas · 12/01/2022 18:45

@StrychnineInTheSandwiches

I really hope she doesn't settle.
Me too.
Maireas · 12/01/2022 18:46

@MrsTerryPratchett

Mummy will settle with her vast fortune. Which is rather disappointing.
I read that he's selling his chalet in Verbier to pay for it. My heart bleeds Hmm
