Duchess of Cambridge 40th birthday photographs

@MamaGaia the previous thread was nasty from page 1, and I didn't even see any comments about cosmetic work. One poster even took it upon themselves to copy and paste bizarre/offensive comments from another website they didn't name.

The pictures are so heavily photoshopped, I thought the person had posted pictures of Rose and were having a pop.

Looks nothing like her.

It took a while to understand why she looks so different and I think it's because she has natural make up on and not the very heavy eye make up she usually wears, these photos probably reflect how she looks at home behind closed doors.

Whilst I think the natural look is lovely there's something about the angle or lens that makes her nose look much bigger and a different shape, almost like when you look at someone through the spy hole on a door and it distorts their face making their nose much more prominent.

I do love the last one though.

I honestly didn’t see the nastiness. I saw criticisms about the photos, and comparisons to Diana which were random, but I didn’t see nastiness towards Kate herself.

Have realised that the format of the story at the link I posted has changed since I posted it and now you need to watch a video to see the pics. Here they are for ease. Red dress one is lovely I think. Think I like that she looks more relaxed - more relaxed hair do, more relaxed hand in pockets rather than fingers neatly together over a clutch bag etc. obviously still very put together but looks less so

The differences in opinion are always interesting. I actually think the exact opposite about her hair! I always think it’s overrated but looks good in the photos.

She’s a lovely looking woman, but those photos are like the Vaseline-lense ones from a £99 photo shoot.

I think she is naturally very pretty and always looks lovely in real life, but these photos don't really do her justice. If I was her I would hate them, but I'm guessing she doesn't because they made the cut!

She looks nice enough but it's such a dated style, really 80s soft-focus looking and not what I would have expected of her when she seems to favour more candid photography for her own work.

Re less make up as a reason I don’t think it’s that. There are quite a few sporty pics where there’s less and she still looks like her, obviously

I don't understand how she approved those, they look nothing like her. I wonder did she have a choice in which ones were released and will be hung in the National Gallery.

The red dress looks fab, but the face is nothing like her, the 2nd close up one is slightly more like her, but only at a push. The 3rd one is regal and certainly looks like her.

I’m not really a fan - it’s a bit too glamour shot for me and she doesn’t look like herself at all.

She has previous portraits that are stunning - one in a cream suit I think. Even her Vogue photos are better.

Can I ask what you mean by “daring”? These look very much in her style to me, the types of dresses, the wavy hair etc. She has a bit less make up on than usual but wondering what makes these daring.

I’d think daring would be if she was wearing leather chaps and recreating the Xtina video myself

Beautiful lady but these photos do not reflect that. Especially the red one. If you zoom in it really does not look like her.

@ShirleyPhallus I don’t know… I didn’t ‘gasp’ like that Daily Mail reader but there’s something a bit shocking/daring about them… not necessarily what she’s wearing, but maybe because I’m used to seeing her on William’s arm, or with her DC, or carrying out a public engagement —wearing tweed—
These are just her, up close. She looks beautiful, happy and confident.

I think the first two photos are awful, very drab and washed out looking. Photoshopped and filtered almost beyond recognition.

The third is a pastiche of perhaps an old Cecil Beaton photo. Best of a bad bunch imo.

Considering Kate has access to the best of everything, they are disappointing portraits (imo.)

I think the difference is that these were taken by a fashion photographer, who I assume is more used to taking photos of models rather than portraits to capture the real person - or paparazzi pics.

I also agree she is naturally very beautiful in pap pics of her out and about. What stood out to me in these photos is that each one is carefully arranged with billowy/puffy fabric to conceal how thin she is. (I am NOT suggesting she is anorexic.)

When I first saw them I thought there was a mistake. They look so unlike her that I’m struggling to believe they are of her. How can someone look so different. It’s horrible.

The dresses are beautiful, and I would have loved to have seen her in them. I can’t relate to these photos as they look like someone else.

I think it's because her hair, and more importantly her eye make up, is so different that I didn't recognise her either. Gorgeous photos though, and seems like a genuine smile which is the most important thing

Will this go the same way as the earlier thread about it. unless it took a turn I missed, I could not understand why it was deleted. I felt vaguely annoyed as had gone to the trouble of reading it all and posting. The deletion message was something about not in the spirit or some such drivel.
