I think they’re lovely and can’t wait to see them. I think the red dress is a nod to her University Days and meeting William

SimonedeBeauvoirscat · 09/01/2022 09:50

Personally I most like the black and white off the shoulder dress one, with the wavy hair.

CanapeWader · 09/01/2022 09:51

Interesting take on them here

The idea put forward here is that the pictures are a representation of padt/present/future monarchy. Who knows but it is certainly a take on it worth considering

MamaGaia · 09/01/2022 09:53

I don’t think they do Kate any justice. They’ve been heavily photoshopped which goes against the natural vibe she has always gone for, and personally, I don’t like him. The photographer let her down.

55Jumbo · 09/01/2022 09:57

I think Kate is far more attractive in almost any other picture I've seen than in these. Hard to pinpoint why, I find these images a bit harsh somehow.

As others have said perhaps there's a "look" they've gone for. I don't think think they do her justice.

mugglenutmeg · 09/01/2022 10:01

I think the photos are lovely - very artistic, I like that she looks like an artist version of herself.

I feel Kate looks quite samey samey a lot of the time - same sort of dresses, hair style etc. one function's outfit is a carbon copy of the next (she has struck on a safe and flawless style and repeats it over and over)....I get excited when I see her looking different like that beautiful outfit she wore in 2019 to the Henry Fawcett Children's Centre (satin pussy bow blouse & wide trousers)

So to mark her 40th I'm glad these photos are different, and getting people talking. She definitely looks like a future queen.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 09/01/2022 10:03

I think they are beautiful. I love that there is so much meaning and significance packed into each image. It must have been so fun to plan and put together! Oh how the other half live.

WeAreTheHeroes · 09/01/2022 10:03

People always have an opinion and find fault with whatever is presented. It's obviously her, just the eye make-up is different. The style is mix of formal and informal. I think she looks great and the one of her seated in the white dress looks like a formal painted portrait.

merrymouse · 09/01/2022 10:04

@ChardonnaysPetDragon

It's the lack of visible makeup that throws people off.

I think they went for the minimal look so the photos are more timeless and not tied to particular makeup trends. This is why it doesn't "look" like Kate, because she wears makeup and has changed her look through the years.

She's more herself in these photos, not the made up Kate but the stripped down Kate.

Nothing wrong with wearing make-up, but I wouldn’t call these stripped down. I don’t know whether the images released to the papers are just poor quality, but it looks as though all signs of age have been removed - no smile lines, forehead blank.

Maybe that is just the default style for celebrity photos.

MushMonster · 09/01/2022 10:06

When I saw the first one I thought she must have lost some weight recently but you can tell is her.
The dresses are beautiful! I love the seated pic, as a timeless one, and the dress is so gorgeous!

ajandjjmum · 09/01/2022 10:06

I love them. I think the three are representing her in different ways - the long white off the shoulder dress is the regal Kate, the red one is the sassy Kate and the white one looking into the camera is more Kate as she would want to be seen - beautiful and fun.

Hope she has a great birthday!

I think the idea of the displays in the various places she has lived is lovely, and for them to be on permanent display at the National Portrait Gallery is perfect.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/01/2022 10:06

They are in a way that there are no visible markers of today's make up trends. Those are removed to make the photos age better.

I think the photos can be all of that and still look like her! The airbrushing, even compared to other photographs, has gone too far.

This shot has clearly also been retouched but it still looks like her!

I think they portray the real her as opposed to the royal image.

There’s a significant move to a more natural pose then royal photos of the past which are more formal. It’s the RF moving with the times.

StormzyinaTCup · 09/01/2022 10:10

But those were (a) accurate IMO, and (b) critical of the photography, not the subject

Well I bailed out at reading it at about 4/5 pages in and it was certainly bitchy, talking about fillers, Botox etc so not about the photography. It was a depressing thread tbh along with the other one where people were speculating that she was too thin and maybe anorexic, this one will probably go the same way.

I just feel sorry for all the youngs girls that are growing up amongst all this nonsense.

Sunnysideup999 · 09/01/2022 10:11

Fair to airbrushed for them to be taken seriously

Ah, I’d stopped reading long before that. To me, their bizarreness is as photographs.

But it’s not bitchy to talk about fillers and Botox? Talking about the way she looks is no different to anyone who goes on about how beautiful she is.

It is in the context that it was being discussed. Also mentioning (paraphrasing) how a fellow femail had suffered for KM hair extensions. Completely unnecessary.

SnottyLottie · 09/01/2022 10:26

They’re lovely but I agree that they don’t look like her. I think it’s a very natural look. She does usually wear colour on her cheek and her hair is usually sleek or glam curls. This seems to be bare face/very natural looking make up. I also think this is her natural hair texture.

I read somewhere that the photos were meant to be based on 19th century portraits which is what she did her thesis on at university. I find that very interesting.

TVTestCard · 09/01/2022 10:27

If they’ve removed makeup trends, why have they left her brows so heavy? Strong brows are a trend and imvho they look too heavy and defined for this style of picture - they stick out a bit. Obviously she looks beautiful etc, that goes without saying tbh.

KingofQueens · 09/01/2022 10:27

As others have said, the first photo looks nothing like her. She has looked like she has had fillers in photos at recent events, but this looks like a totally different person.

Iwonder08 · 09/01/2022 10:28

She is a nice looking woman, but looks older than her age. These photos are unnecessarily heavy photoshoped

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 09/01/2022 10:33

She looks like a more normal person than the weird, stiff, bouffanted version usually presented. She looks more her age here too. I’m not a royalist but I like them.

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 09/01/2022 10:34

Her brows are not as heavy as the ones she usually has, look at the Bond premiere photos.
