Queen "seen in London"

The Sun has a really strange story saying that the Queen has been seen in London without a walking stick. There is no photo taken of the Queen supposedly wandering about London.

www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/17076321/queen-back-on-feet-trip-london/

I cant see how this could be true. But why would The Sun publish such a strange story?

Dementia??

KittenCatcher · 20/12/2021 15:43

Seen by who, doing what, the Sun printing a strange story, never 😁😁

aliceca · 20/12/2021 15:45

@Justkeeppedaling if the Queen had dementia, she would have lots of staff to stop her wandering out of Buckingham Palace. So no I don't think so. There would also be photos taken by the public.
It is I think obviously made up.

I don’t think she’s randomly strolling around the Mall.
Not sure what’s strange about it. I’d assume she’s been to a hospital appointment or someone saw her getting out of a car at Buck Palace.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 15:52

There would be a photo. Everyone carries phones these days. Kate gets photos taken of her when she is out shopping. And a photo of the Queen at this point would be of a lot of interest to the press. Especially if she had been at a hospital appointment, because that would have led to speculation.

Maybe she does it all the time, puts on her most inconspicuous little old lady outfit, and away she goes? Easier now than ever, with facemasks.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 15:56

And no one ever takes a photo of this little old lady slipping out of Kensington Palace gates.
Sounds like the start of a children's book.

Yeah I know. I was semi joking, though in my experience dementia patients can slip past just about anyone and any locked door you put in their way Sad

It's a strange story. I'd think it was an April Fool if it wasn't Christmas on Saturday.
And, as you say, no photos - weird.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 15:56

I meant Buckingham Palace

OP posts:
aliceca · 20/12/2021 15:58

@Justkeeppedaling Yes true about people with dementia. I still think it is unlikely. But it would actually explain why no photos as presumably security would make sure any photos on phones were deleted.

That'll be it. That random old lady that MNers hate, the one in the supermarket stroking their bubba's face and saying "hellair hellair" That's her. Having a shufty round Aldi then a crafty Big Mac so she can avoid the swan kebabs on the menu back at the big house.
aliceca · 20/12/2021 16:01

I am going to make so much money now hanging around Buckingham Palace gates and following her to McDonalds just so I can take a photo of her munching into a Big Mac. It will be worth a lot of money.

Lacedwithgrace · 20/12/2021 16:07

Maybe the conspiracy theory that she's dead is real? And the Sun are in on it

upinaballoon · 20/12/2021 16:07

She and her under-secretary are working to solve a crime, and they are in a hurry to get it all sorted out by 23rd.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 16:08

@Lacedwithgrace Yes and this is a subtle hint!!

I don't really think that. But I do think a hint is being dropped here.

OP posts:
Lacedwithgrace · 20/12/2021 16:10

The other theory is that she'd had a fall/surgery and is recovering or bruised so they're hiding her away. The palace seem to do everything they can to keep up appearances so I wouldn't be surprised.

Cactu · 20/12/2021 16:10

They don’t publish pap shots of the Queen or Wills and Kate. So they may have seen a photo but wouldn’t run it.

Hodl · 20/12/2021 16:11

Wasn't it announced that HM wouldn't be attending the annual walk to church on Christmas Day?

Something is definitely afoot. Very strange.

aliceca · 20/12/2021 16:11

@Cactu they publish photos of Kate caught shopping in Kensington.
Are you saying Kate has set them and they have Palace approval?

OP posts:
PAFMO · 20/12/2021 16:14

I've seen loads of papped photos of Kate.
I love them because she looks like a normal human woman as opposed to a beautiful goddess like she does when they've been at her for a couple of hours before an occasion.
Makes me feel not so much of a Weeble.

Reading the article though it just basically says last week she was in London and wasn't using a stick. She was hardly sniffing the bathbombs in Lush.

Kate calls the paps, that's why.

Most celeb photos are taken by paps who have been called beforehand to prep them.

I imagine the queen can get around stealthily if she wants, through a combo of security, closed-off or secret routes, tinted windows, and dressing down.

Hodl · 20/12/2021 16:18

Pap pictures of Kate are sometimes published, like when she's shopping in Waitrose or Sainsburys (though this may be to promulgate the idea that they're down to earth etc.) Photos were taken recently at the airport when they were jetting off on holiday, although these rapidly vanished when they came in for severe criticism as it was just after the Earthshot / COP26 events.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/12/2021 16:18

Where is she supposed to be at the moment?

bigbluebus · 20/12/2021 16:28

@aliceca It's already been done - Doris Bean and the Queen
DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/12/2021 16:41

@aliceca why are you stirring up concern for HMQ? Are you a sun reporter? Or are you trying to tell us something suspicious we aren’t getting??????
