In time we will understand the full scale and fallout of this organised effort to stop Harry marrying Meghan.

Eventually, Thomas will be a liability to them because in his quest for money he will sell everything and everyone. If someone can sell out on their own daughter, ain’t no one who will be safe.

Who wanted to stop the wedding? The Royal family? The ones who welcomed Meghan to joint events before the wedding, invited her to spend Christmas at Sandringham ( a first for a fiancé), walked her down the aisle, had her sitting with them at the Commonweath day service etc?

Question is where was this family once the wedding actually happened. Because they were no where to defend her and act nice as before the actual marriage.
Would have sounded very sour for the RF if the public were to read that they were refusing to walk her down the isle. And they did not keep the niceties up on Commonwealth if KM and Sophie are anything to go by.

Meghan did a cover spread for Vanity Fair under the banner “Wild About Harry” before her engagement, doubtless organised by herself and doubtless for some exchange fo value, and that clearly wasn’t an impediment to their engagement (and the public signs of support mentioned above).

What has this go to do with anything. She was dating Harry at the time. Infact they took ownership of this, because Camilla Tominey wanted to do an 'expose/reveal" of their relationship.

It's nefarious to try and mess up someone ' wedding especially one that you know very well is big, worldwide and scrutinised.

Why ask questions like this when nobody really cares ? But.. nice try at stirring the pot!
Well... I'd be unhappy if my FIL had said that there was a plan to mess up my wedding and he was part of it. Wouldn't you?

To me, and based on Meghan and Harry’s texts to him, they were embarrassed by his antics, which escalated to a full-blown standoff

Well... I'd be embarrassed about his antics, wouldn't you? They reached out to him time and time again to try and make things work just days prior to the wedding.

Here are details of texts that have come from court papers in this article. How in god's name TM can be the good guy in this, I do not know. H&M moved heaven and earth to try and protect him from the media, to get him to the wedding, he refused all help. And was pissed off he wasn't making enough money on the back of them.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/apr/20/prince-harry-pleaded-with-thomas-markle-on-eve-of-wedding-show-court-papers-meghan
Yes, I don’t disagree with any of that, Roussette (although these ramblings about a plan have come out several years later, of course). I felt huge sympathy for Meghan at the time due to the antics of her father, and I still do - there was obviously a lot being played out there.

I just don’t see any of it as adding up to some whole tinfoil hat theory that there was clearly all a conspiracy to stop the wedding. It was, as I said, a personal issue between Meghan and her Dad that was being played out in public, which obviously, no one in her shoes would want. She was certainly not the first royal spouse to have embarrassing or toxic family members though, I can’t see why anyone could reasonably think that this issue would have stopped the wedding?

derxa · 09/11/2021 12:47

And they did not keep the niceties up on Commonwealth if KM and Sophie are anything to go by. I'm fascinated by this. What conversations led them to be so furious?

Roussette · 09/11/2021 12:56

Bottom line Serenster I have no idea. I just think it must have been horrible to have all this going on with her Father literally hours before she was walking up the aisle. They tried to sort it. They couldn't. He was a loose cannon and he must have caused a lot of angst.

Maybe any of this wasn't to stop the wedding but - in his words - mess it up. How, why and who and if... I don't know.

smilesy · 09/11/2021 13:15

I'm not putting forward a conspiracy theory

I’m not talking about you, Rousette

no wonder she is nc with the vile man.

BananaPB · 18/11/2021 09:54

If it's a pro Meghan comment it won't get reported and deleted so go for it.

Pyewackect · 18/11/2021 09:56

Is behaviour analysis no longer allowed unless it’s virtuous (just asking for a friend …………….. Grin)

DismantledKing · 18/11/2021 10:15

Meghan’s dad is an abusive arsehole. He needs to fuck off.

ILoveAGlassofFizzy · 18/11/2021 10:26

twitter.com/isaguor/status/1288153904459517957 I though Meghan didnt know Scobie? (Hope the link works bit it is a picture of them together in 2012)

ILoveAGlassofFizzy · 18/11/2021 10:26

Sorry, pic is 2014 (maybe she forgot!)

rubicscubicle · 18/11/2021 10:35

Hahaha. That is not Meghan !

CreepySpider · 18/11/2021 10:39

Based on what the media tells us about Thomas, he sounds like a awful father. However, it does interest me that some are so keen to believe what they read about him but refuse to believe negative stories they read about his son in law and daughter. How can the media get it right about one person and not about others.

rubicscubicle · 18/11/2021 10:41

We are not reading about TM, he gives several interviews a month remember. Straight from the horse's mouth, not 'palace source' via DM.

If we are going on interviews, just like Harry’s and Meghan’s interview with Oprah, perhaps it is his truth and how he does things where he comes from and there is not actually anything wrong or untrue about it?
DismantledKing · 18/11/2021 10:45

If you’ve got no problem with obviously abusive men, just come out and say it.

DottyHarmer · 18/11/2021 10:49

Actually, isn’t the phrase there is honour amongst thieves - meaning that there’s always someone whose behaviour is not acceptable no matter how disreputable the group (eg in prison paedophiles will get short shrift).

ILoveAGlassofFizzy · 18/11/2021 10:51

Have I missed something? Why is TM obviously abusive? (Is it TM you are talking about?)
DottyHarmer · 18/11/2021 11:38

TM may be many things, but I have seen nothing to indicate he is abusive. He seems a bit of a pathetic overweight easily-led bloke who seems a bit bemused by the whole thing. There is evidence of a previously amicable if not affectionate relationship between Meghan and her father. Clearly he did not pass muster for a royal wedding, especially as father-of-the-bride, and things deteriorated from there, stoked by the media.

StormzyinaTCup · 18/11/2021 11:42

OK so now I’m confused - it seems to be OK to discuss the behaviour and motives of someones father and to actually call them out as an abuser but discussing the other party’s behaviour and motives is not OK.

There seems to be a lot of this hypocrisy malarkey about at the moment.

BananaPB · 18/11/2021 11:51

While I'd say he seems happy to manipulate the press for money by saying whatever their viewers want to here, it's ironic that comments like abusive stand. If people said that about certain others then they would be reporting the thread for deletion because nothing short of adoration seems acceptable.

ShinyHappyPoster · 18/11/2021 11:52

Does anyone have the full clip where TM finishes the sentence? It seems a bit odd to have a thread about an obviously edited clip.
Unless this isn't about the OP and is just about going round in circles discussing the Markles ... how tedious.
