Will Sophie take the title Princess

Sophie will be 18 next month and will have the choice of whether to be styled HRH Princess Sophie or not. It was her parents decision not to have her styled thus even though she could be as the grandchild of the monarch. Not sure but I thought probably not. But if she was to become a working royal opening town halls and so on the title Princess would look better on the plaques.

And yes, the reason supposedly that William works so little is because he has three children. I am just wondering how anyone thinks most parents manage? They work without a full-time nanny, cleaners, chef and pa.

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 17/10/2021 21:34

So Earthshot is royal work... Poncing around in a designer dress with a price per wear of approximately 1000 pounds is inspiring the rest of us to recycle our clothing?

94,000 pound annual clothes spend, paid for by her FIL's giant tax evasion scheme. Actually, I see what you mean about work. Kate's a professional piss-taker.

Hopefully Sophie's daughter Louise will keep her ordinary name and surname, get productive employment, and have more self respect than to associate with this bunch of freeloaders.

@MintyCedric

OK so they're not the hardest working royals, but as @smilesy has pointed out, given Wills is still 2nd in line to throne, why should they be.

79 engagement in 77 days...blimey that Kate is a lazy moo!

Still @julieca you clearly have an axe to grind so you crack on.

There were 262 working days in 2020. If Kate worked for 77 of them then that's equivalent to 0.3 FTE or approx a day and half of work per week. And there's no indication that those 77 days were full ones so the likelihood is that it was less

She's hardly slogging her guts out.

Neither is William. Not even when he's badgering us all about climate change whilst choosing to have a large family and travel by private jet Hmm

bogeythefungusman · 17/10/2021 23:31

Just had a look at the court circulars for Duchess of Cambridge - she's done a fair bit in the last 12 months, and obviously every appointment has preparation behind the scenes too. I certainly don't get the feeling she's 'lazy'.

MagpieMary · 18/10/2021 05:50

I think people underestimate how much prep is involved for these events. They have to really understand the issues and who the people are and what they do. What the backstory is etc.

Charles apparently works late most days. There was an interview with W and H w while back in which they both bemoaned how little time he had for them due to ‘work’. He’s reading papers till late at night.

ChurchofLatterDayPaints · 18/10/2021 06:15

MagpieMary Self preservation at multimillionaire level isn't productive work.

Those "papers" he reads... the taxpayer ought to be reading them as well.

Regardless of how much prep work is involved, the nongenarian grandmother and elderly aunt still manage to do twice as much

There are so many experts on this thread who clearly have a day to day knowledge of what the royal family are doing/not doing. Fair takes me breath away

imnotacelebritygetmeoutofhere · 18/10/2021 14:43

I hope she chooses not to take the title, I'd be disappointed if she takes it up after they raised her away from it. When Charles succeeds his mother it's well know that he wants to slim down the royals. Peter and Zara are already doing their own thing, hopefully Louise and James will follow suit and I hope it means we will see less of Beatrice and Eugenie, who, as a previous poster says, only use the princess titles because their father is a grabby attention seeker.

niveaessential · 18/10/2021 16:18

why would accepting the title of HRH Princess make Lady Louise a working royal? As a granddaughter of the Queen, she's entitled to it.

julieca · 18/10/2021 17:23

No it does not automatically mean that. But that is what has been talked about in the news as a possibility.
If she is not a working royal, no one cares what she calls herself.

We read the publicly available information. They don't keep their works secret you know.
Kendodd · 18/10/2021 17:32

I think if she's got any sense she'll steer well clear.

Viviennemary · 18/10/2021 17:41

Even if she does decide to use the title it's unlikely she will become a working royal for a good few years. The two dont have anything to do with each other though. Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie aren't working royals.

'We read the publicly available information. They don't keep their works secret you know.'

And what you don't know/like, you make up!

I think it would be good for Louise (if she can) to put the decision on hold. She has 'A' levels, uni and a few fun years (hopefully) ahead of her. Then, if she does become a working member of the RF, she can take up the title with her Uncle's blessing.

EvilPea · 18/10/2021 18:26

I’ll say what I’ve said on other threads
Being a royal is a marathon not a sprint. Given they won’t retire I can see the logic in keeping a steady flow rather than over saturation. There’s a lifetime of engagements for them.

JustLyra · 19/10/2021 20:14

@ANutAsBigAsABoulder

Don’t Wills and Kate’s schedules reflect that they are parents to three young children?
It also reflects that there are things to be taken over in time.

They’ll be taking over a lot of Charles’ things when he takes over from the Queen. If they already had a full, full schedule that wouldn’t be possible. It’s how it’s always worked in the RF as well.

I don’t see Louise using her HRH Princess title. Even if she was going to be a working royal - which I don’t see, at most she and her brother will be heavily involved in the Duke of Edinburgh awards - she can do so as Lady Louise.

MrsSkylerWhite · 19/10/2021 20:15

Who tf is Sophie?
Oh, hang on, I don’t care

MrsFin · 19/10/2021 23:03

Did you see that the Queen refused the "Oldie of the Year" award with the words "you're only as old as you feel", or something similar.

Bless her! She has no intention of calling it a day, does she?

PurpleOkapi · 19/10/2021 23:24
@PurpleOkapi You obviously don't work then. A day spent at various meetings, phone calls and then an evening dinner with clients is a normal working day for many.
Right, because it's impossible for any sort of gainful employment to have less than seven public meet and greets in a normal day.

halloweenie13 · 19/10/2021 23:28

@julieca

And if this does happen, it will be because William and Catherine are too lazy to take on many engagements so have persuaded an 18-year old to step in and take on some of their work. An 18-year-old who won't truly understand what she was letting herself in for.
Are you deluded, have you actually looked into just how much they are currently doing? Perhaps the least lazy royals.
Chloemol · 19/10/2021 23:31

@julieca

You can look at the engagements for all RF members in the court circulars. Anne is affected by the pandemic and does lots of engagements. William and Catherine do not. And often what engagements they do include things like a phone call. This information is public. Just read the court circulars. They show quite clearly that they are lazy in terms of Royal duties anyway.
Ok love live in your dream world
SpindelWhorl · 19/10/2021 23:38

Louise's birthday is on the 8th November. I presume she doesn't have to say straight away?

julieca · 20/10/2021 00:56

@PurpleOkapi I am low paid, that is not the sort of work I do. But anyone who works would not see that as a hard days work. Let's get real here.

gofg · 20/10/2021 01:45

What makes people come out with this rubbish?
