This according to guess who. The DM of course. To avoid getting papers served says the article. Maybe he's just gone for a nice break. Accompanied by Fergie.

Yup.

Viviennemary · 17/09/2021 09:53

From what I read the man who had the sealed document opened was a lawyer who VG had accused. It is concerning a large payout VG accepted agreeing not to make any more accusations. Whether this would cover Andrew is uncertain as yet. So if it does he's off the hook legally but his reputation for what it's worth is in tatters.

The sealed document doesn’t seem a million miles away from an NDA. I agree that even if it halts the civil case, that strategy will damage his reputation and increase his pariah status. I suppose the fear is that loss of the civil case could lead to criminal proceedings?

merrymouse · 17/09/2021 10:15

Although even if with the civil case were dealt with, he can’t control what may come to light during the Maxwell case.

An interesting development.
Naomi Campbell who was pals with JE and who VG tweeted to.. has just been appointed Queens Commonwealth Trust

As someone commented...now that she works for the RF she won't be commenting about what she saw between PA and VG

How convenient Hmm

Plumtree391 · 17/09/2021 11:17

Did she see anything? It's the first I've heard that. I know Epstein organised her thirtieth birthday party and she travelled to the venue with friends on Epstein's plane. Virginia Guiffre said she was also on the plane and attendant at the party but didn't mention Prince Andrew in that context.

Roussette · 17/09/2021 11:36

There's pictures in the link of her and VG and V tweeted about it

She has form with confidence tricksters. Flavio Briatore is/was her "mentor" apparently. Obviously hasn't yet learned how to steer clear of shady rich people.
MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 17/09/2021 13:38

Whatever agreement VG may have signed, surely that carries no weight if she was trafficked. Surely the power imbalance makes any contract null and void?

Plumtree391 · 17/09/2021 14:42

I don't do Twitter but some time ago I saw Virginia G interviewed where she said that almost word for word, and showed pictures of herself in the same room as Naomi Campbell. What I meant was, did Naomi C see anything regarding Prince Andrew. Was he at the 31st birthday 'do' on the yacht?

There are pictures of that party all over the internet and no sign of him. It was twenty years ago, about the time he retired from the Navy.

I really do feel sorry for Virginia Giuffre and the other women exploited by Epstein but in this instance, I doubt Naomi Campbell even noticed her.

Roussette · 17/09/2021 14:53

I have no idea.
However VGs tweet suggests yes she did know

You saw me at parties, you saw me at Epstein's homes, you saw me on the plane, you saw me get my hair cut, you saw me on the streets, you watched me be abused. You saw me!

Mamamia7962 · 17/09/2021 15:58

MrsHunt - She signed an agreement in exchange for a large sum of money, I think reportedly 5 million dollars, so would she be in breach of that agreement? I don't know, perhaps Serenster can explain the legalities of the agreement.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 17/09/2021 16:37

Regardless of the money, to me it seems like it shouldn't hold weight because if she was trafficked/groomed from a young age, she didn't hold equal power when the 'agreement' was made, she might have felt intimidated into signing/feared the consequences of not doing so. If she did feel coerced, then would it stand I wonder.

Personally I wouldn't condemn a sex trafficking victim from getting what she could out of the person who did that to her. I think sometimes people feel that if a victim takes money, it's like their suffering no longer counts, which obviously it does and the men involved shouldn't get out of accountability just because they are rich.

I hate to say this but I find that difficult to believe. I saw her on TV saying the same and at the time I felt uncertain about it and then felt guilty.

From what she says, Naomi Campbell must have been in her company an awful lot.

Quite honestly, Virginia Giuffre has enough going for her at the moment, and plenty of support, without having to embroider - if she is embroidering. It lacks credibility.

We just don't know.

MummyJ12 · 17/09/2021 17:12

Apparently the High Court has ruled today that PA was properly served. He has been given a week to challenge and the article in The Times claims that there have already been indications that he will contest this High Court decision.

Oh dear not going well AT ALL.

Some billboards in London and elsewhere...

Whoever organised and paid for those - I'd like to shake them by the hand. Bravo.
Washeduponthebeach · 17/09/2021 17:48

Amazing! That’s really cheered me up!

Roussette · 17/09/2021 18:04

By an organisation called 'Republic'

Graham Smith, CEO of Republic, blasted the "seedy" scandal and said it is the most damaging thing to happen to the monarchy in decades.

"The message is clear - he is dragging the monarchy through the mud,"

"He thinks can get away with it and hide behind Metropolitan Police officers while using the 'catch me if you can' defence."

I daresay what I watched was from last year too though I watched it this year. It doesn't make any difference really.

Tbh, I wasn't particularly invested in this business until coming on Mumsnet (& frankly, wish I wasn't; it takes up too much space in my mind).

I noticed someone above mentioned ads on billboards, I dread to think what they are about and don't intend to delve.

Roussette · 17/09/2021 18:38

Plum there's a screenshot above if you don't want to delve but just look

NC strikes me as someone who has been trafficked herself . Trading on her beauty for holidays/ yachts/ jewels. Hasn’t that been how it always worked ? I don’t know before now that she was enmeshed with JE
