Omid Scodie says Meghan was wrong about Archie becoming a prince at birth

artquejtion · 01/05/2021 09:32

He has publicly stated that Meghan was incorrect about her understanding of the protocol around Archie becoming a Prince.

Considering Omid seems to the M & H unofficial spokesperson, it is more than likely that Meghan now realises this is the case and his skin colour would not have been a deciding factor in it.

it does make you wonder why Harry did not explain it to her ? did he just not have a clue about about Royal protocol and succession, maybe he never needed to understand it. . Or was he so desperate to get her to marry him that he fed her a load of bull, i.e. our kids will be princesses and princes. Did he hope he could convince the queen to change protocol for his family?

Please don't get this thread deleted with comments which MN don't like, I am beginning to suspect there are posters who purposely troll M & H threads to ensure MN will delete them, so there is never a discussion allowed to stand..

We still don't know who or what was said of Meghan, but these articles will give you an idea of the sort of extreme language allegedly used inside the Palace. Whatever it was said of Meghan and Archie, I can't see how it will magically turn out to have actually been fine all along.

Careful before opening - the expression he used is precisely as fucking awful as it seemed like it would be from the title.

Yes. So why do they keep going on about one aspect of a person's identity?

It must be hard to be an historian of an era before photography, piecing together written accounts. That is why I could never be as interested in ancient history as I am very modern history.

Marmaladeagain · 01/05/2021 20:16

"I bet it's a corker" no, not at all - it won't be a corker it will be a damp squib - Harry saying he'll never tell, is just overly dramatic and cowardly behaviour.

Reminds me of someone I worked with who would regularly say "I could say something, but I won't" with a knowing grin and a nod - implying they had some witty joke up their sleeve, they didn't - they never, ever said anything remotely amusing and were always out of their depth in a fun conversation.

No-one's fooled saying "I'll never tell" ie. I have a secret that is earth shattering....no, he doesn't - he needs to explain himself though if you want to tell half stories on TV.

ConnieCaterpillar70 · 01/05/2021 20:17

Oprah should be ashamed of her lack of research on this interview. Meghan's perceived truth has been glaringly ripped to pieces in the weeks since that interview, and now we have this back pedalling PR from Scooby Doo.

I am not a fan of either Harry or Meghan, but he has been an arsehole in not sitting her down with family/staff and going through the protocol involved in being a member of the RF. She was unprepared, and at times completely in the dark about what was expected of her....... hence some of the behaviour she's been unfairly criticised for.

There was no need for any of this, really, and it could have all been avoided by Harry giving Meghan the education she needed to enter such a stuffy and old fashioned institution. She wouldn't have then felt the need to constantly challenge it.

Diverseopinions · 01/05/2021 20:31

I wonder if Harry liked being an enfant terrible and thinking the younger royals could change the old ways by doing things differently.
Whomever he had married, had it been somebody else, he might have brought his kids up to defy the rules, accidentally on purpose wear back to front baseball caps for trooping of the colour, smoke spliffs out of the window of Kensington Palace. His mother was a bit of a rebel; he might have given the message, " Just do what you like, and a courtier will sort out any issues with the press, or square it if the protocol goes awry."

He maybe feels things are safe and nothing can go wrong.

I think when he married, courtiers stopped leading him and cueing him in, on official engagements. After he married, he used to look a bit gobsmacked on occasions, as if he's thinking, " What is happening? Where is Smothers to push my elbow in the right direction?"

I think courtiers and fellow royals felt that it wasn't the done thing to be spoonfeeding a married couple with a script. I sense William always used to guide Harry as to where to stand and where to look, but let him stand on his own feet after the marriage.

Maybe Harry sees the royal code as being full of silly out of date traditions and he thinks the world will cheer him as he cocks a snook at convention.

chicdancer · 01/05/2021 20:32

I doubt that it's Meghan who is backtracking here tbh, IMO I think it's more likely that Scobie has been told by his publishers that he can't include that claim in the updated version of his book that he's planning - or that he'd need to say that it's not true if he does want to include it.

Two minutes on Google would have shown Scobie (or OW) the truth of the claims in that interview. He didn't have much credibility to start with but OW did.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/05/2021 20:35

I have wondered if the palace machinery, rather than muzzle them both out of dislike have actually done it to protect them because when they are left to their own devices they make twats of themselves.

Oprah looks like an amateur letting that interview go out without fact checking the claims. That interview will be her poisoned chalice.

Kate famously signed up to be in a fashion student's show, then tore off the outfit she'd been given to model right before she stepped onto the catwalk so she could walk down the catwalk in her underwear and a sheer sheath instead, in order to catch William's eye (which could have destroyed the poor student's coursework and potentially her degree).

Good story but I'm not sure this is true - wasn't the "sheer sheath" a silk dress designed by Charlotte Todd, who later flogged it?

YellowGlasses · 01/05/2021 21:16

@ohforarainyday

Wow Meghan really lives rent-free in your heads huh?

I wish people would stop twisting what Harry and Meghan actually said. Their complaint was that the Palace told them they'd be changing the rules so Archie would no longer automatically become a Prince when his grandfather was crowned King. Not that they were upset he wasn't being made a Prince earlier.

Don’t forget Judge Warby stating Meghan or her team did pass information to him.
"Her team" means the Royal Courtiers and staff assigned to her. Like Jason Knauf, the infamous best friend of Dan Wootton, who constantly leaked nasty stories about his boss to the tabloids, is the person who gave the Thomas Markle letter to the Daily Mail, is the person who lodged the "bullying allegation" without the knowledge or consent of the alleged victims and then leaked the whole thing to the tabloids, gave his entirely unqualified girlfriend the job of Meghan's head of PA (then somehow wangled her the job of live-in nanny to a Tory billionaire who's sister is a Daily Mail reporter after she was fired for gross misconduct) was was promptly rewarded for this laundry list of incompetence and backstabbing by William and Kate making him the CEO of their foundation. Not to mention Will&Kate's press secretary's boyfriend being busted accepting payments from a bank account belonging to the Sun, and the multiple journalists who have confirmed they'd swapped personal mobile phone numbers with Sussex staffers and were in regular contact with them.

We already know that the royal courtiers were leaking stories to the press about her, the Judge's statement just confirms it.

Another example, she And Kate might both have Been on edge in a tense week, and both cried after the pre-wedding incident, but she doesn’t allow for that possibility.
That's... literally almost exactly what Meghan actually said. She literally said it was a stressful week for both of them, and that Kate was upset about something which caused her to do something she (Kate) later apologised for. Meghan even said "Kate is a good person" and praised Kate.

Since when has police security been attached to title? Prince Michael of Kent doesn't get security! They're annoyed about issues that just don't exist.
It hasn't - security has always been assigned based on need. That's why the RF changing their policy and announcing Archie wouldn't get it because he didn't have a title is so terrible. Because clearly the (future) king's first non-white grandchild - the most famous baby in the country, on the cover of every newspaper, dealing with constant racism before he was even born, with members of Neo Nazi organisations being sentenced to prison for conspiring to murder his father for being "race traitor" - by any objective standard has a high need for security.

We’re not twisting. We’re going from the written script that is directly what Meghan said. You are adding you own views and ending up with... your truth (aka not true).
Nishky · 01/05/2021 21:17

Not sure you can compare Kate on the catwalk as a student with the nauseating burger grilling add.....

grumpytoddler1 · 01/05/2021 21:26

The baby did have security. His parents had 24/7 police security. Does a baby need separate security from his parents? And yes, it is assessed according to need, by the home secretary. Because it is provided by the police. If, as an adult, it was judged that he needed his own security, the home secretary would presumably make a decision at that point. What the fuck has any of that got to do with his title?

And you seem to have a lot of inside information about their staff, considering you're berating other posters for being too invested...

www.thesun.co.uk/news/6516437/meghan-markle-grill-sexy-video-youtube-mens-health/

I've now seen the video relating to what rainy is referring to - sure Meghan will thank you for another extra view of that cringefest...

The above article seems to be a rainy inspired one talking about M and K.

However, surely M's a grown woman doing that simulated "fun" with food? I mean I know some young girls go down that route, but I wouldn't have expected it from a woman who wants to be taken seriously?

Any number of young women could play that scene with the food, most choose not to do that though - why would that be? A lot of women that may even be tempted, might think they might regret it one day. She's gone down in my estimation after seeing that, feel a bit embarrassed on her behalf.

myrtleWilson · 01/05/2021 21:34

I think Justice W reference to passing on information related to a very rapid twitter report by OS regarding the filing from the DoS - it was way beyond JK time with the D&DoS

sitandwait · 01/05/2021 21:36

Next time someone posts that anyone being critical of Meghan on here is perpetuating misogyny and 'tearing women down', they should be directed straight to @ohforarainyday's 20.59 post above to see how it's really done from the other side.

KFleming · 01/05/2021 21:46

And of course being papped topless "engaging in a marital act" (quote from court testimony) on a balcony visible from a public road.

Really? A marital act? Shocking. Is it necessary to criticise Kate for being topless in a private villa in order to defend Meghan? I think defending Meghan from some comments on this thread is totally reasonable, but why does everything always have to be a competition between the two of them. Why do women always have to be played off against each other. It’s so boringly predictable.

ExitChasedByABee · 01/05/2021 22:02

@sitandwait How what is really done? Sorry I didn’t fully understand. I just scrolled up and read @ohforarainyday’s post and I was shocked by the cronyism. The more I find out, the more grossed out I feel. After QE2, there needs to be discussion on the role and importance of the royal family.

And besides ohforarainyday’s post clearly shows how arguments for or against Harry and Meghan always has to be linked to William and Kate. Meghan was paid to do something, I don’t think Kate was? Doesn’t make one better than the other really. They were both grown women who made their own choices in life.

ExitChasedByABee · 01/05/2021 22:02

Exactly. I really don’t get that.
chicdancer · 01/05/2021 22:05

Comparisons are not necessary, it's possible to discuss the topic without comparisons. It does not have to be linked to any other member of the RF at all.

grumpytoddler1 · 01/05/2021 22:11

is the person who gave the Thomas Markle letter to the Daily Mail

Wasn't Thomas Markle the person who gave the Thomas Markle letter to the Daily Mail?

Sunbird24 · 01/05/2021 22:18

I wonder if this whole situation is the sort of thing William was envisaging when he told Harry not to rush into getting married - not that he shouldn’t do it, just that joining the RF is pretty different from marrying into any other family and it’s worth taking the time to get used to...

Sarah Chatto and David Snowdon are grandchildren of George 6th and seem to have good lives without prince/ess titles.
They’re hardly a great example though when it comes to who should and should get titles (and they are titled).

They don’t have HRH Prince/Princess because their royal parent didn’t have a penis.
