Palace appoints external lawyers to probe MM bullying...

Last week, in the lead up to Meghan and Harry’s eagerly anticipated Oprah interview, Palace sources were quoted as saying that the Palace was “prepared to retaliate with fresh disclosures about the couple’s behaviour if the monarchy is attacked”.

Great, so what next

External lawyers to probe bullying by other royals?
External lawyers to probe racism within RF?
External lawyers to probe whether there was disability discrimination in denying support for mental health?
External lawyers to problem Andrews behaviour and whether it broke public code of conduct (not criminal investigation, but did he bring us into disrepute type of stuff)?

Is this a vendetta or is RF finally going to be be subject to public accountability?

Why not have Andrew’s conduct investigated by the Committee for Standards and Ethics in Public Life?

I expect they'd try to claim they're not a "public body" so it's not applicable - you know, the same rationale they used to avoid being subject to the FoI Act Hmm

And that's leaving aside the point that they may not want anyone even vaguely "independent" looking into Andrew. Even just looking at his known activities, it's probably best to keep him completely out of sight and preferably not make a thing of going horse-riding with him

SallyLockheart · 15/03/2021 19:39

TatianaBis. Are those bullying allegations recent? do you have any reliable reference for them such as the Times rather than tabloid rags? If so please reference them.
Of course if there are recent claims then the due process of how the Palace handled those claims from employees should be investigated.

This is of course primarily an investigation in how HR at the Palace should have responded to complaints made by staff to it - basic employment rights that all employees have.

Livelovebehappy · 15/03/2021 19:42

Of course investigations should b3 carried out into her bullying of staff. This isn’t going to end well for Meghan and Harry. The RF, while unable to retaliate or respond to allegations via interviews and the press, they have the ear and support of the media, and will obviously leak stuff out to the press things that has been going on with them. The bullying is just the top of the iceberg. They better hope they don’t have anything else to hide because, if not, any dirt on them will be dished up in shovel loads.

Sprining · 15/03/2021 19:42

Bullying and misuse of public position, peddling influence. Along with the sex trafficking stuff.

Surely the non-sexual stuff can be investigated by The Queen? It has been reported in the media?

As Andrew was acting on our behalf, as a taxpayer I’m happy to make a further complaint to the Times about him and cc the Queen. I’m sure they and the Queen will publicise my complaint and will no doubt have to hold a public investigation

Sally

What source would you like? There's the Independent, the Express, the NZHerald, 2 from Guardian, and other news sources ... take your pick

SallyLockheart · 15/03/2021 19:44

repeat. please reference bullying complaints made by a reputable publication regarding Andrew.
just repeating that stuff doesn't make it true.

SallyLockheart · 15/03/2021 19:45

to save me googling, why don't you be more precise. What year are you wittering on about?

Roussette · 15/03/2021 19:46

That is ironic.

For god knows how long that is what posters on here have been doing about Meghan and Harry.

Never realised a whole google page of news sources are all wrong

Sprining · 15/03/2021 19:47

May be the palace can look into potentially unfair dismissal claims for Kate’s staff?

Rebecca Deacon and Sophie Agnew were both prominent staffers for Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge before their employment became terminated. “Sophie worked so hard for Kate. She loved her job and made a lot of sacrifices,” a friend told the publication. “Everyone's been really shocked because it was so unexpected.

You know, this can be quite interesting to shed a light into full employment practices in the RF

Both recent and age old. I don't read the tabloids so I don't know what they have made of it. If any of Andrew's staff go on record as Jason has done then there will have to be a comparable investigation.

Alsohuman · 15/03/2021 19:48

I don’t think we need worry too much about Andrew. If Ghislaine Maxwell is offered a decent plea bargain she’ll sing like a canary.

Roussette · 15/03/2021 19:50

Yes. This summer is going to be verrrrrryyyyy interesting

I wonder how she treated the staff at BP... she was there enough! 😂

SallyLockheart · 15/03/2021 19:53

TatianaBis. Of course. Hence the value of having an external law company review the complaints and how they were handled.

TatianaBis · 15/03/2021 19:54

😂

Thinking about it it’s not impossible that she was the fixer in the South York deal.

I don’t know how the hell they got away with that - seriously dodgy.

I wouldn't fancy her chances of making old bones if she does; frankly, I'm only amazed that she's still alive now

Sprining · 15/03/2021 20:02

Ah, but Ghislaine Maxwel is not staff 🙄

She may sing like a canary, have photos of PA having sex with a coerced teenager and recordings of peddling influence.

But the palace won’t investigate because you know, she didn’t make a complaint to Jason that was conveniently leaked to Times.

And since they are going into historic employment issues, perhaps they can also investigate how Kate and Willam treated their house keeper?

A housekeeper who earned £35,000 a year to cook, clean and shop for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children in their Norfolk home has quit her job after the post became "too demanding", it has been reported.

And this

Prince Charles’ former employee revealed how hard it was to work for the prince

In 1995, Charles’ personal valet, Ken Stronach, came clean about what it was really like to work for the prince — and it didn’t paint a great picture. Stronach revealed in an interview with News of the World that Charles was angry; he claimed the prince had outbursts that once required him to hide in a closet in fear...The former staffer also once recalled that Charles followed up on his anger by grabbing Stronach by the throat

@Sprining what’s the big deal about that story? I had a cleaner quit for the same reason. We weren’t bullying her, we were just too messy!

Of course the palace won’t investigate. The FBI will.
Sprining · 15/03/2021 20:29

The FBI will investigate allegations of a British royal peddling influence?

It will investigate the Epstein allegations. Are you being obtuse or goads?
Alsohuman · 15/03/2021 20:32

Goady even!

Sprining · 15/03/2021 20:35

And surely the palace can investigate this too

Prince Andrew is allegedly notoriously rude to staff with one former royal aide telling The Sun, "I've seen him treat his staff in a shocking, appalling way.

Why would they investigate if these people haven’t complained?

I really must leave this thread alone, it’s making me too cross.
