Also Kylie Miniogue did a “Showgirl” tour. It’s not really derogatory but means entertainer and singer/dancer rather than serious actress but Meghen isn’t Shakespearean is she?

Serenster · 02/08/2020 20:10

@Myimaginarycathadfleas

"A showgirl is a female dancer or performer in a stage entertainment show intended to showcase the performer's physical attributes, typically by way of revealing clothing, toplessness, or nudity."

Much of which MM has done (on film if not on stage), so not inaccurate, but I do actually think rude.

I heard a senior commentator use this phrase early on with something of a smirk as though he was being terribly witty, and I was taken aback. Obviously I recognised the reference but I think we are well past the time when it's acceptable to describe a grown woman in those terms.

A few further thoughts.

If MM had organised for her hairdresser to fly in from Paris it seems bizarre not to also have made arrangements the other end with regards the tiara. She would have had hours if not days to do so.

And AK is much more than a dresser, her title is Personal Advisor to Her Majesty (The Queen's Wardrobe). She is no mere "servant". Even if she were, she isn't obliged to accede to impossible demands if she found herself on the receiving end of them.

Precisely, Myimaginarycathadfleas. I find it quite bizarre that Mummy 185 is on the one hand saying that AK has airs and graces about who she will help, and should give her role as "tiara deliver" due diligence, but then also gives Prince Harry a complete pass on the far more important matter of meeting his prospective father in law on the basis that he was involved in a lot of projects and his diary had to be managed precisely, and he could not hand around waiting. If Prince Harry has tasks that take priority when it comes to Thomas Markle, then the HM's Personal Adviser must also have when it comes to Meghan Markle.

Why did Meghan fly her hairdresser in from France? It isn’t very eco friendly is it? Surely she / he could have caught Eurostar to offset their carbon footprint? And are there really no decent hairdressers in London? Seriously? “I flew my hairdresser in from France and i couldn’t try on my tiara’” - everyone is focusing on the wrong part of the sentence.

So I was thinking of the highly intimate and personal details of FF. Omid has stated he has 2 sources for everything so does this mean that Meghan or Harry have had those conversations with friends if as they claim they haven’t contributed to the book.

Anyone else feel there are certain things you DO NOT discuss outside your relationships

YouSayWhat · 02/08/2020 21:21

^So you all have a problem with office manager on this thread, but showgirl at the palace is a playful reference

No Mummy185, I have a problem with how you personally used the term office manager because, in context, you clearly intended to be dismissive of Angela Kelly by ridiculing the nature of her position.^

Roussette was an office manager-I see nothing wrong with being this important workplace facilitator. Sorry, catching up on the time bread. Has this already been discussed?

I’m guessing things you don’t discuss outside of your relationship, you definitely don’t discuss with someone writing a biography about you! Grin

In all honestly, they can’t claim to such private people yet tell enough such personal information about themselves that the writers could find two separate sources. So either they aren’t private at all, they cooperated, or else the writers have made it up. So far I’m unaware of any actual details from H&M about the contents of the book though - perhaps they will come soon.

Eh? Haven't commented on the office manager posts!

@MissEliza

And she flew her makeup artist in from the US, not just for the wedding day but for other events. Hopefully they planted a few trees to carbon offset.
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 02/08/2020 21:56

Some people can be funny about who does their hair & that's me included.
I still use my old hairdresser in my home city (about 90 mins away) as I don't trust anyone else to do my hair.
My hairdresser even has a client from New Zealand who pops in on her yearly visit back to the UK.

EthelMayFergus · 02/08/2020 21:59

Hairdresser flown in from France, make up artist flown in from USA? that doesn't sound like the behaviour of a true environmentalist.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 02/08/2020 21:59

Though going back to the tiara business it's similar to having a wedding dress fitting/alterations. You don't just rock up on the off chance that the bridal wear shop can see you then & there. You make an appointment for a mutably suitable time & day.

Roussette · 02/08/2020 22:02

that doesn't sound like the behaviour of a true environmentalist

Was this for her wedding day?
Hardly crime of the century for a one off and if they were on scheduled flights, what's the problem?

But it wasn’t a one off. M’s makeup artist has been interviewed repeatedly on US TV. Just off hand I believe Trooping the colour and the last batch of their official engagements he was flown over.
Roussette · 02/08/2020 22:14

So the hairdresser catches a scheduled flight to come and do her hair? Maybe she was nervous and wanted to feel comfortable with her hair right.

KatherineParr4 · 02/08/2020 22:14

Yes he was, he came over for the whole period. I don't think a single other member of the RF has personal make up artists and hairdressers flown in from other countries.

EthelMayFergus · 02/08/2020 22:15

I didn't claim that it was the 'crime of the century'. But it is very hypocritical.

Roussette · 02/08/2020 22:15

That's good. He came over for a whole period to see to her hair. No, they wouldn't have make up artists and hairdresser flown from other countries, given they don't come from other countries.
Just a thought....
No doubt, if she'd stayed she would have found her own hairdresser etc here.

OP posts:
EthelMayFergus · 02/08/2020 22:17

She's not French.

Roussette · 02/08/2020 22:18

Who's not french

I'm lost

OP posts:
alliwantisagoodnightssleep · 02/08/2020 22:19

Rousette can’t you see how completely over the top that is? There is nothing remotely normal about flying your “personal make up artist” thousands of miles and then preaching that we should all fly less. I admire that you can see no wrong in what she does but it is now verging on the ridiculous.
