@rousette

I'm sure you won't mind that your excellent link gets 'pinned'.

Some of the things MM did before marrying H.

Sorry lost an L there
We did watch the umbrella accadmy as well

OVienna · 31/07/2020 23:07

@samcro do you ever do rum and coke? I keep telling DH rum is the next "thing."

Gin clearly became huge and is still huge. Vermouth is growing but still slightly under the radar.

In May, I had a very very very lockdown habit of a small vermouth tipple at 430pm on some days. It was small and not every day and I have stopped it. 😮

myrtleWilson · 31/07/2020 23:11

@Samcro my DH and DD watched the first series of UA and are looking forward to starting #2

Wolfgirrl · 31/07/2020 23:12

Anyone else a bit shocked Archie hasn't been in public since January?! (Not a rumour, confirmed by their lawyer).

StartupRepair · 31/07/2020 23:12

Envious of your summer and lovely drinks. I'm in Melbourne in hard second wave winter masked up lockdown. If I started drinking I wouldn't stop!
Looking at the list of court roles,it is nice to see a few jobs for people in the arts.

OVienna · 31/07/2020 23:13

Re Prince Andrew. So, here is my take as an Anglo-Yank. Stuff is coming out on Clinton too, remember. The conspiracy theorist in me is thinking "they" - and yes, I'm wearing my tin hat - will push that angle until the election is gone. Then we will have more on PA. I am actually in a state of panic they will find something really bad that Trump can exploit for his benefit. Obviously- if he has done something it needs to come out. But I feel sick about it.

The article mentioned by PP. Not for the first time I am thinking this family would be better protected in the U.K. How can their current situation be better than what they had ?

OVienna · 31/07/2020 23:16

Second wave in Oz?

OVienna · 31/07/2020 23:17

2nd wave in Oz?

StartupRepair · 31/07/2020 23:17

Yes, just in Melbourne and surrounds.

SunbathingDragon · 31/07/2020 23:26

I wonder if Archie would have been out in public if it wasn’t for the pandemic, or whether the intention always was that that he stays within the grounds of the house H&M are staying in. It’s not as if H&M have been seen out in public more than a handful of times during that time either.

modemeanmedian · 31/07/2020 23:27

Here's what I don't get. The whole MM was given a sh*t time by the press because she is bi-racial, and an actress, and KM was treated really well because she is white.

From my memory the press was vile to KM - Waity Katy, lazy, etc etc. They started to like her when she started to produce photogenic children, and she proved herself to be very good at smiling, and being polite and elegant at all times. But most importantly she just took whatever they said about her on the chin and rose above it. It's kind of what is expected of the royals.

MM in contrast has taken every bit of crap the press have thrown at her very personally, kicked up a storm about it, flounced off out of the country and there is a now a tell all book coming out. Not very Royal. So she's getting stick. In fact they both are. I used to really like Harry. Now he's a whiny preachy little rich boy telling the rest of the world how they should live. How can someone change so much? So people blame MM. Because that's the easier than saying lovely Harry is actually a bit tedious.

The press is has been spectacular awful to pretty much everyone who marries into the RF at one time or another. I'm old enough to remember they way they treated Fergie. Awful. Sainted beautiful Diana, and fat frumpy, dumpy, slutty Fergie. Poor woman.

Personally I think MM is very smart, and probably quite lonely given her habit of cutting off friends and family. Harry, not so smart, and completely out of his depth. It's sad. I wish the media were kinder.

It feels that PA has had more articles about his potential involvement than Clinton and I’m sure there will be other names that will come out when/if the court allows files to be opened. I will be following GM’s court case and interested to see what is said.

Wolfgirrl · 31/07/2020 23:31

It said he hadn't been in public since they moved, not since the beginning of lockdown. So that was a few months to start with. Surely it's not sustainable?

@Oldbutstillgotit kate and her kids have been spotted in supermarkets and B&M shopping for toys. I think they were more shielded than they realised in the UK, it wouldve given Archie a chance at a normal-ish childhood (up to a certain age anyway)

Wolfgirrl · 31/07/2020 23:35

@modemeanmedian

I think some of the press abuse had racial undertones (straight outta Compton, etc) but I dont think it had anything to do with the public's dislike of her.

She really doesn't have many positive points bar being hard working/ambitious, and seeing as that is for personal gain it's not really that admirable.

You're right about Kate though, waity katy, the press all over william dumping her, articles about her uncle & mum because she was an air hostess etc.

Meghan was the best thing that ever happened to kate quite frankly

OVienna · 31/07/2020 23:36

I think the Clinton stuff is coming out now. I could be wrong.

MissEliza · 31/07/2020 23:41

I don't think Archie should be seen in public at all. For his own sake, I wish him as much privacy as he can possibly get as he grows up.

Samcro · 31/07/2020 23:45
@Samcro my DH and DD watched the first series of UA and are looking forward to starting #2
We are only on series 2 episode 1 but its looking good.
And to who asked, think i have had rum and coke back in the day, but prefer whiskey or bourbon.

Wolfgirrl · 31/07/2020 23:55

@MissEliza it's not that he hasn't been seen in public since they moved, it is the fact he has not been in public. He hasn't been to a park, taken to the shops, any soft play or baby groups. How long can they keep it up for? He is going to need to go to school & have a normal life at some point.

CrystalPuff · 01/08/2020 00:01

Yes, the news of Archie never having been outside broke my heart a bit. Have a similar aged DD and she was a trooper during lockdown. Luckily we live in a country where things ended fairly early so she's had social contact and been outside to new places for months now. The first time she started meeting toddlers her age again she was almost hysterical with joy. Not to mention being taken to the shops, going for a drive or getting free balloons from McDonalds.

As massive and luxurious as the mansion is, it's hardly a substitute for people, nature, shops, restaurants and friends. I'm usually on the critical side of H&M but I have genuine sympathy here as poor Archie can't help where he was born. I think it's a case of damned if they do or damned if they don't. If they go outside with him then they will be slammed with headlines accusing them of breaking rules or endangering their child. If they don't go out (as claimed in court here) then it hardly seems like a healthy and happy environment for child and parents.

Of course I don't know the exact lockdown situation in LA but surely it was permitted to go outside for walks?! There are so many beach and canyon areas in California there has to be a place to go for a safe trip if they really wanted to.

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 01/08/2020 00:12

I'm sorry ov that must worry you !

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 01/08/2020 00:14

I'm not sure we should worry about Archie , whatever we may think 💭, he's loved and he's got his parents and grandmother plus helpers showering him with love!

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 01/08/2020 00:19

I'm on standard red ! I have many tasty gins but in the name of environment, I have to make my own tonic and I'm too lazy! 🦥🌿

OVienna · 01/08/2020 00:25

jeffgoldblumlovespenguins · 01/08/2020 00:35
