As an aside, I can't imagine that Anne Glenconner didn't have the Royal nod on her book; she's one of the turnip toffs (daughter of a past Earl of Leicester and a descendant of QE1's Chancellor), a childhood friend of PM/HMQ & one of her maids of honour in 1953, so part of the 'inner circle' for generations.
Interesting argument by the DM counsel on the application to keep MM5's anonymity. All named by MM in response to a request for further information (under Practice Direction 15 of the Civil Procedure Rules) by DM therefore no apparent reason for them to now be retrospectively anonymised, as it were. Only 1/5 has provided a witness statement ( & that's been described as 'unsatisfactory'.There's no 'property' in a witness, so nothing stopping DM summonsing the other 4 to appear. Calling a witness without proofing them is problematic because you don't know in advance what their evidence might be, but worth it if you think it'll undermine the opponent's case, even if it doesn't advance your own. Judgement on the application is due mid-August. No idea what the strategy is on this, but MM seems to be getting entangled in lots of side issues which detract from the main point of her case.

Lady Glenconner said she wrote her book after reading Ma’am Darling and wanting to redress the balance as Princess Margaret was a great friend and not much of that appeared in Craig Brown’s book.

As it turns out, it was brilliantly readable
and not that much about Princess Margaret (but what stories there were, were quite funny and nice to read and she obviously wasn’t exclusively a spoilt bitch) - nothing in there to offend HMQ though Prince Philip does seem to have made them all a bit nervous just by being in the vicinity when they were young!

I think it was made clear that the 5 friends thought they were defending MM, this was at the beginning of the smear and its fair to say they did not know back then that the BM has a habit of twisting what you meant to say, and publishing letters without copyright permission.

I don't know of any friend of MM that has written a book about her. As far as I know, OS and CD are not her friends, neither is Lady C.

I am growing increasingly concerned at some posters telling other posters that they can’t post on certain threads.

Are we living in a fascist state that only allows one opinion to be heard? Personally I don’t want to live in an echo chamber where everyone has the same thoughts and opinions.

Thanks for clarifying MNHQ. I’m sure we’re all quite happy to stay on this one thread. After all we can all be respectful of everyone’s opinions I’m sure. No one is either Good or Bad so I’m not sure why there needs to be a positive and “other” thread to discuss issues surrounding MM and H.

Perhaps our next thread should be called the “realistic Thread” to allow for more accuracy in the title? I’m sure everyone would agree it’s not healthy to consider people purely in a positive or negative light.

@WaterWishWash I think you are right. most people are some where in the middle. don't love or hate them.
I just hate some of the really nasty stuff that has been said about M.
H would not have left if he had not wanted to(imo)

I agree H wouldn’t have left if he didn’t want to. He shoulders as much of the responsibility as MM does. I do think she brought out a petulant and childlike side of him and encourages a lot of negative thinking and this new victimhood mentality though (imo).

I saw a poll somewhere or other about which of the 4 recent royal dresses we liked best.
I think I would go for either Meghan or Eugenie's as favourite. And although it wasn't in the poll, I thought Meghan's halter-neck evening reception dress was fabulous.

I think it's better all on one thread too. It's good chat.

Meghan's halter neck evening dress is my absolute favourite dress but for wedding dresses I would say Eugenie's was my favourite.

Exactly. As grown ups everyone on here should be able to post their opinion and if others disagree with it have a discussion about it instead of reporting it to MNHQ and getting it deleted.
