What I find interesting about the court case is the extraneous filings, which obviously have been made against the advice of MM's barristers.

Jealousy that MM ‘snared’ a Prince I suppose. The numerous threads are presumably the same posters in an echo chamber. It is like reading the comments on the DM pieces about the RF, similar ilk to the MN H&M threads. Best ignored.

So why shouldn't people find the case interesting? A mild passing interest for a couple of minutes while reading a newspaper or watching the television news is one thing.

Obsessively following the minutiae of the case and every other aspect of their lives is something else.

Why would anyone be that bothered?

I guess posters who aren't interested in history, politics or the media might find the odd that others are interested in those issues but this thread feels a bit like going to Style and Beauty and posting why is MN obsessed with makeup.
I also find it interesting that certain posters in their haste to defend certain royals are happy to set them in competition to others and to be much less kind. There's a definite uneveness in approach.

I've lurked on some of the threads because I have a passing interest in how things pan out for H&M. Not because I hate MM (I genuinely can't think of anyone I hate) or because I'm jealous (why would I be? I like my life as it is) but because their departure from the RF was so messy. It was if they didn't know what they were doing next. The flouncy word salad statements didn't help.

Ultimately it has no bearing on my life at all. People are free to discuss what they want. If it doesn't interest you don't read it!

The Royal Family and their goings on are of interest - the Prince Andrew interview was tv highlight of the year!

If H&M had disappeared off to Vancouver and were living quietly, hiking and doing good works, you can be sure the threads would have died off. But they’re living the celeb life in LA - do you honestly think they want to fade from public view?

So anyone who dares say anything critical about H&M is either a racist or a 'weirdly obsessed freak'? Why are they beyond any criticism? They are two of the most famous people in the world right now with a very high profile court case in progress.

Obviously goes without saying racism is not acceptable and MNHQ should handle accordingly.

I've reported but it's been ignored.

If it was said about Meghan it would be gone in a flash. Quite rightly of course. But I don't think it's acceptable for anyone to be calling people racist (without actual proof) or obsessed freaks so I'm shocked MMHQ have allowed this to stand.

Blossom yy I reported too. There are quite a few threads and posts in this section that are absolutely appalling including some in the apparent 'positive' one.
I very rarely venture into this section and tbh threads like this are reminding me why I don't. I've no idea why the moderation is so patchy. I've been on MN for years and this entire section feels like an aberration. It doesn't reflect well. Thankfully there is a certain type of poster to be found here who doesn't tend to venture into other parts of MN.

I think the fascination is akin to watching a train wreck in slow motion. We all know what the outcome is going to be with PH and MM - she came in all guns blazing thinking she could change centuries of etiquette and protocol - and flounced off in a strop when she got her hand slapped. Blinds online are already talking about divorce.

She's done more damage to the image of the BRF in two years than others have done in decades. She's on standby at the moment with Covid but all hell will be let loose when this book comes out in August. If it isn't put a stop to by the powers that be................

What I think is weird are posters who claim to know what MM and PH think and do. Others seems to really hate MM without any evidence as they don’t know them.

@PenelopePitstop49 - how do you know she got her hand slapped? Perhaps the RF are supportive of members of their family wanting to make a different type of life for themselves. We will never know.
