A continuation of the thread discussing the Cambridges' contribution to the pandemic.

Wolfgirrl - Well they were possible explanations why, I expect it hasn't been reported until now for security reasons.

Mamamia456 · 01/05/2020 23:43

Wolfgirrl - Still no news on the helicopter though

There's just no pleasing some people, I thought you would be happy that Kate was batch cooking especially as I laughed at that suggestion. 😁

Pelleas · 01/05/2020 23:44

they probably are doing it on a regular basis. I think Kate took photos of Charlotte as it's her birthday tomorrow and these are the photos released for the occasion

What a very happy coincidence! Wink.

Pelleas - Lovely photos though.

Pelleas · 01/05/2020 23:55

Yes, indeed - but most children of that age are attractive, before the ravages of time take hold.

'Meals on Wills' and another royal birthday - your lucky day! Grin

Mamamia456 · 02/05/2020 10:06

Pelleas - Why can't you just agree they're lovely photos and leave it at that. The rest of your post makes you sound peurile.

Pelleas · 02/05/2020 10:11

Because I don't see why they should be feted above anyone else's photos of their children - if the media want to cheer people up with cute children photographs, there must be millions out there they could use - why does it always have to be the Cambridges?

Harry introduced the special Royal episode of Thomas the Tank Engine this morning on Milkshake, Channel 5 as well. Lots happening this week. 😃

Pelleas · 02/05/2020 10:16

Goodness, is Thomas the Tank Engine still on TV? It used to be on in the 80s narrated by Ringo Starr. I loved the books as a child.

It’s gone through about 17 updates since then, you would barely recognise it. Grin

Mamamia456 · 02/05/2020 10:20

Pelleas - Because some people like to see photos of the royal children, the same as some people like to see photos of celebrities children. They always release photos annually on their birthdays, it's something the press always ask for.

Nobody's forcing you to look at them.

Pelleas · 02/05/2020 10:21

I'm just glad to hear Thomas is still a Tank Engine and hasn't been replaced by a Pendolino!

OP posts:
Mamamia456 · 02/05/2020 10:22

Haven't watched Thomas since my children were little, they too loved the books. Wonder if the Fat Controller has had his name changed to something more PC.

Cerseirys · 02/05/2020 10:43

It's certainly more diverse now with female engines and engines from around the world but I don't think that's a bad thing.

On the positive side, at least it wasn't a moody, close-up black & white shot featuring Charlotte's left nostril or something.

Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 13:18

@Mamamia456 do you think it is good/healthy to be brought up as a royal from birth?

And if not, why would you want this encouraged with photos of the kids plastered all over the newspapers?

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 13:29

do you think it is good/healthy to be brought up as a royal from birth?

Apparently it’s absolutely the best or there would be no whinging about why they have a life of privilege Joe Bloggs can only dream of. It’s either good and healthy hence all the resentment or it’s dreadful and unhealthy, in which case surely the response should be pity and sympathy?

Mamamia456 · 02/05/2020 13:44

Wolfgirrl - Well that's a question best answered by the royals themselves. None of us have a choice which family we are born in to. It can't be easy for royal children at times but then the same could be said for children of other very rich people, like the Beckhams for instance, who are constantly being photographed.

Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 14:42

@Alsohuman @mamamia456

So you can't answer basically

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 14:48

I did answer. Do you have a response to the yawning chasm in your logic? Or do you honestly believe it can be both?

Pelleas · 02/05/2020 14:56

This misses the point - which is that, whether or not their children's lifestyle is healthy, it's one of absurd privilege - going far beyond any normal levels of comfort and luxury, and the Royals are sitting on vast quantities of unused wealth and property that could be put to better use.

If the children's lifestyle is good for them that's neither here nor there, because a healthy lifestyle could be achieved at far less cost to the state.

If the children's lifestyle is bad for them, it adds insult to injury that all this money is being spent on an upbringing which is unhealthy.

OP posts:
Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 14:56

You didn't. You said what everyone else seems to think, not what you think. You answered a question with a question.

As for me; I think it is a mix of both.

I think the children have been given relative privacy over the last ten years. But they have been fortunate enough to be raised in a beautiful stately home, go to the very best schools, and be virtually guaranteed a life of luxury and splendour. They don't really need to worry about exams etc as the taxpayer will look after them forever.

I think the unhealthy part is teenage/20s. The press interest picks up, they seem to go through a rebellious stage (like PH) and don't really have a place in the world.

Once they marry though it's back to free mansions, taxpayer's money, public adoration of their little kids and a life of leisure.

Either way, it's not good for them or us is it?

Now i have answered, it's your go.

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 15:02

So you want it both ways. Fine. Once again we’ve proved incapacity to conduct a logical argument. Don’t plan to change careers to the law any time soon and hopefully you’ll never be called to jury service.

BurneyFanny · 02/05/2020 15:02

I expressed pity for them in the last thread and was told I was being ridiculous.
