A continuation of the thread discussing the Cambridges' contribution to the pandemic.

So you want it both ways

No - neither way. I'd like to see them stripped of their Royal status and excessive wealth, in order to live a normal, comfortable, healthy existence.

I expressed pity for them in the last thread and was told I was being ridiculous.

It's all relative. My pity is reserved for those children of impoverished families who are living in inadequate housing and wondering whether their next meal will happen.

@Alsohuman

It's very simple.

Do you think bringing a child up as a royal is good ans/or healthy? (Yes or no, then state why)

If you answered 'no' to the above: why do you encourage it? (State why)

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 16:25

You appear to believe you’re teaching a civics class and people engaging with you will write an essay so you can mark it @Wolfgirrl. I last took an exam 34 years ago and have zero intention of doing so to amuse you.

Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 16:29

@alsohuman

I dont want an essay. I want you to answer the question and not skirt around it, or desperately try to deflect it. Of course you can decline to answer but that would speak for itself.

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 16:32

It does speak for itself. I’m not a recalcitrant child in your class and you don’t get to treat me like one. If you were a little more engaging and polite, I might answer your questions although given your propensity for twisting people’s words, it’s all a bit pointless.

Mamamia456 · 02/05/2020 16:42

Wolfgirrl - Oh I think you do want an essay. I said on another thread you sounded like a teacher. Perhaps that's your vocation in life.

Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 16:47

@alsohuman

I didnt know how else to phrase it to get an answer.

Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 16:50

More deflection

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 16:53

I didnt know how else to phrase it to get an answer

Try to be more creative because it didn’t work, did it?

Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 17:05

I think it is logical at this point to assume you are avoiding answering.

Alsohuman · 02/05/2020 17:16

I think it’s logical at this point to assume that I can’t be bothered with you and your exam questions. Particularly since you completely failed to address your complete absence of logic pointed out upthread.

Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 17:24

You asked me if I believed it could be both. I said yes. And then explained.

You have just ducked, dived and turned the question on me as usual.

Wolfgirrl · 02/05/2020 17:32

It's funny that I can answer the question, which is irrelevant to me as I dont support the royal family. So both arguments (undeserved privilege or servitude) are actually reasons for my views.

Whereas the royalists can't because neither justifies their support of the royals. Either they have a life of undeserved privilege, or they life a life of duty and press intrusion which you are happy with.

CathyorClaire · 02/05/2020 20:56

I think it’s logical at this point to assume that I can’t be bothered with you and your exam questions

I think it's logical at this point to assume you're caught between a rock and a hard place. C'mon. Lay it on the line Smile

Winterlife · 03/05/2020 00:32

Do you think bringing a child up as a royal is good ans/or healthy? (Yes or no, then state why)

What a stupid question. No one but a person brought up as a royal child chould know the answer to this, and even that answer would be suspect, as the royal child would not know any other way of being brought up.

Furthermore, how do we know what is a "good and/or healthy" way to bring up a child? When I was a child, spanking misbehaving children was considered a good thing. Now, it's not. When I was a child, it was common for children as young as 8 to be "latch key" children. Now, a parent of a latch key child would be reported to social services. By the standards of the day, I was raised in a good and healthy way. By today's standards, I wasn't.

Wolfgirrl · 03/05/2020 00:35

@winterlife

A stupid question?! I asked an opinion. Which is of course judged from the outside, as most opinions are. Do you have opinions on certain celebrities? On world events? News? Coronavirus? Of course you do, you can form an opinion without inside knowledge.

Yet again you just don't want to answer, so are deflecting by any means possible.

Blueroses99 · 03/05/2020 00:44

Why the Queen? She spent most of WWII hidden away at Sandringham before a token showing-her-face in the ATS near the end.

The Queen was 13 when WWII started. What would you have liked her to have done differently for war efforts at that age?

Winterlife · 03/05/2020 00:45

None of which changes the fact that it's still a stupid question.

Wolfgirrl · 03/05/2020 01:21

@winterlife

Why not answer it and then tell me it is a stupid question?

Oh wait that means you actually have to answer...

Winterlife · 03/05/2020 01:24

Should I also answer how many angels can dance in the head of a pin?

Wolfgirrl · 03/05/2020 01:26

Can if you like, I'm more interested in your opinion on the question I asked.

Winterlife · 03/05/2020 01:39

My opinion is that your question is stupid.

Wolfgirrl · 03/05/2020 01:43

@Winterlife I know it's difficult but just give it a go, try your best.

Winterlife · 03/05/2020 01:48

No. I’m not in the habit of answering stupid questions, unless I’m paid.
