Kate also played the sexy card with the see-through dress at university. There's something about wanting to be a royal wife that seems to be in the makeup - greed for a lavish lifestyle and fame. Fergie, Sophie, Kate and Meghan have all displayed these traits. There was no way Kate was ever going to have a career, she would have done what Pippa did - marry and get him to provide the lifestyle. She's no more a feminist icon than M.

So many of them are morally repugnant in the RF, where do you start. They love the lifestyle so much they can't give it up, despite being publicly humiliated.

It's not about what M did at university - who cares. It's when people defend it as something special. Yes, it's probably a good university, so what though, she's not that intelligent, more than H but nothing special.

PenguinOrHippo · 27/03/2020 10:26

I think it is good when any public person, royal, celebrity or footballer uses their profile to highlight certain causes. They all reach different target areas.

I think that H&M changing the WHO advice and change the colour of the logo was less good. I would have applauded them reposting the actual advice and adding some comment from themselves.

TimeLady · 27/03/2020 10:27

The RF is expected to express thanks, not opinions. That's why Charles' comments about architecture and homeopathy were not welcomed back in the day.

5LeafPenguin · 27/03/2020 10:28

Is it known if they've bought in LA or rented?

I think there was always an agreement that they would be out of the borrowed house by a certain date ( or pay market rent, whatever that is). There were rumours that they were house hunting in Canada for a bit (with a view to split location Canada/LA).

But it wouldn't be unusual for house hunting to show you that what you are looking at just isn't what you want and they'd had long enough to see the disadvantages of trying to do LA remotely.

There were also rumours that Harry was buying a place in LA for Doria. Maybe that was a smokescreen to cover sightings at estate agents (realtors?).

Today I feel slightly manipulated by spin.

lizzie1970a · 27/03/2020 10:28

If it's misogynistic to say I don't admire women who get by stripping off (Kate and M) then so be it. Both have attracted attention like that - Kate used to let her skirts fly up. Yes, she's got good legs and she knows it. She grew up eventually and acted a bit more appropriately to the role. M did the underwear stuff to get ahead. Both greedy to get ahead and to have fame. I don't respect either of them.

DandyPenguin · 27/03/2020 10:29

I’m laughing at Whack and Cack (to put it phonetically).

RosesandIris · 27/03/2020 10:29

I wouldn’t say Kate played the sexy card. The assumption there is that Kate was trying to catch W’s attention. They didn’t even know each other at that point. It was a fashion parade, presumably for charity.
I don’t think assumptions can be made about what K would or wouldn’t have done if she hadn’t met W.

7Penguins · 27/03/2020 10:30

As I call them Grin

derxa · 27/03/2020 10:30

This thread is full of unpleasant talk, but only when directed at a blood royal do you start objecting, honestly your inbred deference to royalty is so deep you cannot see the mote in your own eye.
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

— Matthew 7:1-5 KJV
Do you have a beam in your eye, Navigator ? Grin

RosesandIris · 27/03/2020 10:31

Kate used to let her skirts fly up? What! Not the wind then? You really think she’s a calculating person don’t you lizzie?

7Penguins · 27/03/2020 10:33

Neither K nor M is a feminist. Difference being, Kate at least doesn’t pretend to be one.

lizzie1970a · 27/03/2020 10:33

It's one thing the non-'royals' marrying in being avaricious but the 'royals' are supposed to be above that. H is despicable. It underlines to me that we need a republic.

We will be supporting Charlotte and Louis for decades (directly or indirectly) and then they'll use their 'fame' to make millions. It's vomit-inducing.

RosesandIris · 27/03/2020 10:33

Yes I agree 7

lizzie1970a · 27/03/2020 10:36

I meant to add if H is doing it, why won't they be doing it? The queen needs to tighten up what H&M can do. They're abusing their positions for financial gain, positions which are farcical anyway.

M uses HRH as much as possible and the title Duchess of Sussex - how is she royalty, come on?! We've been fed a fairytale in the UK about this. Same with the actual born royals but at least there's a basis for that. Now we have a commoner going to be queen eventually, it becomes less and less believable (i.e. believing in royalty being something special), not that it ever was believable to me. I hope people start waking up to this.

DandyPenguin · 27/03/2020 10:37

This thread is full of unpleasant talk, but only when directed at a blood royal do you start objecting.

No one else has made an insensitive comment about having COVID-19. Doesn’t matter whose “diseased ass” you were referring to and whether it’s likely to sit on the royal throne or not, term would still be disgustingly inappropriate given what’s going on.

BarleylemonPenguin · 27/03/2020 10:38

Sorry, Navigator. I'm all afluster following the LA move announcement. And....someone get me off my soapbox, plllleeeeeeaaaaase! DH will not forgive you lot.

lizzie1970a · 27/03/2020 10:39

Oh Rose, of course Kate knew he was in the audience. Maybe she wasn't targeting him, there were enough rich hooray henrys there for her to marry.

And yes she used to allow her skirts to fly up. Plenty of pictures of them blowing up and she made no attempt to hold them down. You don't get those pictures any more. She knew what she was doing. Another attention seeker. It's not just M. Kate has grown up though about this.

lizzie1970a · 27/03/2020 10:41

Of course assumptions can be made about Kate if she hadn't have met W. Why not?

She would have done what Pippa did - bugger all and just married someone rich.

7Penguins · 27/03/2020 10:42

Tbh I bet Puppa’s life is much nicer than Kate’s. More money and a lot more freedom.

lizzie1970a · 27/03/2020 10:43

Kate used to let her skirts fly up? What! Not the wind then? What a stupid thing to say. Of course it was the wind! But she could have done stuff to stop it - weights in the hem, holding her skirt to one side, change style of skirt so it was unable to fly up. Don't be so obtuse.

7Penguins · 27/03/2020 10:43

James has Billions. Not millions. BILLIONS! Wink

Also: yum!

MissEliza · 27/03/2020 11:03

Kate also played the sexy card with the see through dress at university. Isn't that just normal behaviour for young single women in the Western world? I wouldn't have dared wear a dress like that but I definitely chose clothing I knew would get attention and I won't apologise for it.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 27/03/2020 11:11

7Penguins Puppa is a star. Billions - such a brilliant line. Grin

lizzie1970a · 27/03/2020 11:14

No one is asking you to apologise for it MissEliza but to me it just highlights the RF is full of people that aren't that special or particularly classy - Fergie, Kate, Sophie and M are all attention-seeking money grabbers.
