The thing that makes me angry about this is that it's so clearly been the plan all along (according to common sense and the blind gossip pages), yet they've tried to string us along with all the nonsense about Canada (a Commonwealth country to sweeten the pill) and "dividing their time" between North America (which of course was deliberately vague and could have meant either Canada or the US). There will be no dividing of their time. They will be living in the US full stop, and once in a while Harry might come to the UK for something or other and the Queen and Prince Philip will never see Archie again.
I hope they fade into obscurity and never darken our doors again. Good riddance to them.

ButteryPuffin · 26/03/2020 22:49

Wonder whether that means they were going to wait till they'd found a house, but now events have speeded it up and they'll have to move into somewhere temporarily. Presumably they have some rich friends with a house in LA they can borrow.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 26/03/2020 22:50

You might get your second wish but I would hold out much hope for the first.

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 26/03/2020 22:50

As long as we don’t end up paying for them or their security or any other costs they can live where they like

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 26/03/2020 22:50
  • wouldn't, not would!
CallmeAngelina · 26/03/2020 22:51

They're not in lockdown in California then? Or are there special rules allowing them to move house when everyone else is to stay put?

CallmeAngelina · 26/03/2020 22:55

But I'm not sure how easy it's going to be for Harry to get into living the American dream if they're going to be housebound for the next goodness knows how long.

5LeafPenguin · 26/03/2020 22:55

I just googled the house story and got another one that they are building a house in the Cotswolds near the Beckhams?

CallmeAngelina · 26/03/2020 22:56

Really? And are we paying for that one too?

FiveTwoFaster · 26/03/2020 22:59

If Harry wants to lounge by the pool in LA while Meghan touts for work, he’s going to need all his £34m for sun block.

SenecaFallsRedux · 26/03/2020 23:10

That may be so overall, but all degrees are not the same.

True. In fact, the theater program at Northwestern is consistently ranked as one of the best in the world.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 26/03/2020 23:13

The Soho Farmhouse property is apparently going to be their bolt hole when they come to the UK. So much for Frogmore then. Next...

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 26/03/2020 23:14

That may be the case for theatre programmes Seneca but it's not neuroscience.

DulciUke · 26/03/2020 23:27

Most degrees aren't neuroscience or astrophysics. Should they all be looked down on? She got accepted into a program which currently has an 8 percent acceptance rate. Not a Meghan fan, rather the opposite, but she did manage to get accepted into one of the top programs in the country in her field. I'll slam her on so many things, but not that.

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 23:27

George, Charlotte and Louis! How gorgeous!❤️

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 26/03/2020 23:29

Hollywood A list circle is more exclusive and snobby than UK aristos

I'm wondering about this and I'm not sure.

Posh and Becks were accepted quite well in America, as has James Corden and quite a lot of a celeb brits. Maybe Harry will find a niche. He is still Royal (suspension of HRH not withstanding) and at the very least will be a novel curiosity and a big draw at first.

Plus his superior penguin relocation abilities have revealed how well connected he is. Well connected to British aristocracy also, places that aren't necessarily easy to get to. That is something of value and worth taking the time to ingratiate yourself for.

I think this is what all the random celebrity endorsements have been about, showing support and preparing the ground, so to speak.

lizzie1970a · 26/03/2020 23:31

In fact, the theater program at Northwestern is consistently ranked as one of the best in the world.

It's still theatre though. And she ended up opening suitcases on a game show and having to pose sexily while barbecuing.

lizzie1970a · 26/03/2020 23:32

Shame the programme wasn't better and taught her how not to overact.

Indeed. Not exactly Astrophysics or Economics!

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 23:37

Yep. Not exactly the Meryl Streep School of Acting.

5LeafPenguin · 26/03/2020 23:37

Nothing says we fully intend to pay back your £2.8m for the house asap like....spending £3m on a spare house. It's like a cf story from AIBU.

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 23:43

Wait...you’re saying they are now in LA?!?!

ButteryPuffin · 26/03/2020 23:43

There's plenty to legitimately criticise about Meghan without bringing degree snobbery into it. Society doesn't only need economists or astrophysicists. And if the current crisis has shown us anything it's that socially useful jobs don't always correlate with STEM degrees. Or any degrees at all.

BelleharePenguin09 · 26/03/2020 23:44

Hmmmmm
