And another thing about education Grin

Let’s say (for example Wink) one of my degrees is in Economics from a programme with less than 1% acceptance rate. I know my field, advise in it with credibility and produce models that I explain with ease to non-economists.

I don’t hold back because I know I am the expert, IN MY FIELD, and I am paid for my knowledge.

I don’t go around lecturing the fucking world on mental health, health in times of global pandemic, lifestyle coaching (lol) and a myriad other things that have fuck all to do with my field.

Yes, MM has an elite degree, in theatre. But that’s not what she thinks she’s an expert in.

Rainbunny · 27/03/2020 08:10

Exactly! A pandemic that will cause a global recession far larger than the 2008 great recession. Paying to protect them as they flit about LA while the UK is brought to its knees could honestly threaten the future viability of the RF I think.

BarleylemonPenguin · 27/03/2020 08:14

Sorry, BarleymoonPenguin I cannot take anyone seriously who unironically uses the term 'feminine wiles'. I actually was being ironic, highlighting the antiquity, entrenchment and (non)elevance of this highly-stylised rhetorical device...oh, never mind Grin

7Penguins · 27/03/2020 08:15

Barley I appreciated it Grin

7Penguins · 27/03/2020 08:20

Skimming over the news, the real Royals are very visible with videos etc. I find it strangely reassuring.
I hope they film and post often during the plague.

TheNavigator · 27/03/2020 08:21

BarleymonPenguin as we (apparantly expendable) Scots say: 'aye, right' Wink

Oldbutstillgotit · 27/03/2020 08:27

This would have been a good time for H, M and A to post a heartfelt video but I reckon the next time we see them they will have been paid. Archie’s first birthday covered by Hello ?

Winterlife · 27/03/2020 08:35

More likely by People magazine.

DandyPenguin · 27/03/2020 08:35

@TheNavigator why are you Scots apparently expendable?

CanIHaveAPenguinPlease · 27/03/2020 08:38

Is it confirmed that they have actually moved to LA apart from as reported in the dreaded DM? If it was the BBC I wouldn’t hesitate to believe it wholeheartedly. Although I’m not surprised by the move I’m gobsmacked they’d make such a move during a crisis.

A side note Greek Cypriots refer to English Cypriots (which I am) as BBC’s - because the BBC is superb & known all over the world & because we are British Born Cypriots.

TheNavigator · 27/03/2020 08:46

TheNavigator why are you Scots apparently expendable?

Because Charlie boy waltzed his overprivileged, diseased ass up here - but that's just fine because he hasn't got a good degree from a respected University (and isn't beautiful, female and mixed race...). So yup, us Scots are cannon fodder for our lovely, home-grown royals (bow, scrape etc).

Oldbutstillgotit · 27/03/2020 08:46

The People are also reporting it.

Winterlife · 27/03/2020 08:49

@TheNavigator Cambridge isn’t a respected university?

DandyPenguin · 27/03/2020 09:01

“Diseased ass” is an absolutely disgusting term to use in this instance when the ‘disease’ in question is causing a huge number of deaths globally and adversely affecting all our lives.

TheNavigator · 27/03/2020 09:04

I wouldn't have used it if he had stayed put as he was supposed to do - silly, selfish man.

DandyPenguin · 27/03/2020 09:06

Doesn’t matter. It’s highly inappropriate and inflammatory given the circumstances.

HarryDaylight · 27/03/2020 09:06

diseased ass Hmm that's a vile thing to say about anyone with Covid-19

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 27/03/2020 09:13

He's going into isolation in a remote house in a sparsely populated area where the risk of passing on the virus is much reduced. I'm not defending his decision but I can see the logic.

MM and Harry are moving themselves and their staff to a heavily populated area where the risks to the people running errands for them of catching the virus are significantly increased.

I don't understand how you can so vehemently defend one while criticising the other.

derxa · 27/03/2020 09:13

Me too. That is EXACTLY how she played it. Why even bother to go to university if only hammy acting is “taught”?

DandyPenguin · 27/03/2020 09:26

MM and Harry moved after the Canadian president had instructed people to not move and travel if possible. A country-to-country move presumably involved a fair number of people including security staff for all three. The move is highly unlikely to be because it’s more healthy COVID-wise to be in LA. It’s a highly selfish move.

Prince Charles’s move is also selfish but as the first in line to the throne the decision for him to move is highly unlikely to have been his alone. Senior royal courtiers and possibly someone from the govt may have been involved in discussions for him to go to his property up there. There could be official protocol or policy reasons for it we’re unaware of. That’s unlikely to be the case with HaM.

BelleharePenguin09 · 27/03/2020 09:27

“Diseased ass”

Vile.

derxa · 27/03/2020 09:31

Her diplomat uncle used his influence to secure her a prestigious internship as a junior press officer at the American embassy in Argentina when she was 20 and considering a career in international relations. He got the cold shoulder as well.
She really is an awful person. How anyone can defend her is beyond me.

RosesandIris · 27/03/2020 09:36

That's disgusting language. It is more than likely that Charles and Camilla were scheduled to go to Birkhall anyway on Sunday, but it coincided with the onset of mild symptoms, for which he was tested on Tuesday once they had already arrived. I doubt very much he woke up on Sunday morning, decided he might have the virus and called for a plane to take him North . It doesn't work like that. They have their schedules decided well in advance.
He will treated privately if needed and not use resources meant for the public (I hope).
it's massively unfair that the Royals have access to private treatment on tap and the two of them were able to be tested straight away, but that's privilege for you. At least he and Camilla put in the hours, unlike H and M who sit around lecturing people and causing distress within their own families.
