@brainfoglightson you're being patronising by still minimising my original point - I said patients in hospital who hadn't been tested should get priority, not the ones at home. I thought they needed priority more than or at least as much as NHS staff. I also made it clear that was my opinion. My 'issue' was you or the other person making no reference to patients at all - I felt that was a little cold. In fact the other person said they hoped that people who made certain comments didn't need NHS help (not me - I hadn't posted yet). As another poster said, that wasn't very nice. There are people, including me, with Covid on the thread.
Part of the issue with COVID-19 testing is that it will have to be ongoing, as the staff will continue to work, or come and go, and the hospital or GP surgery population will be changing so they could get infected at any point. I don't know how realistic it is to regularly test NHS staff. The in-patients & those in A&E who haven't been tested however, they hopefully should only need one test.
Of course giving everyone the antibodies test is different and that should be done as a priority for NHS staff. But that test isn't widely out yet from what I understand.
As for PC and Camilla, surely you as a HCP know that you're not in a position to comment on whether they need the test or not because you don't know their health history or symptoms. It's not factual for you to say that they didn't need it - yes we were given basic facts like 'mild symptoms' but we weren't given their pre-existing health history. All we know is that the relevant medical chiefs in Scotland said that PC met the criteria (I don't know about Camilla).
Re being anti monarchy - I completely agree on that. They shouldn't get privileges.
