Dandy. Pointing out the facts about key worker staff isn’t patronising. It’s important to get this right. I don’t seem to be the only one saying this looking at headlines today.
Just to say I’ve been at home with moderate symptoms and know this is no picnic so please don’t think am underestimating how people
feel.
People with mild or even moderate symptoms at home who can self isolate don’t need priority testing. Of course we would like this and hopefully it will happen. Camilla has no symptoms at all and can self isolate in 530000 acres so there was no indication at this stage for that test that I could see.
NHS workers (and other key workers) do need priority testing - so they can go back to work. Otherwise they have to sit at home for up to 14 days- possibly repeatedly if they get different symptoms. Health services are not coping with this.
Saying PPE is more important is factually incorrect. This isn’t about NHS staff thinking they’re more important. This is about maintains frontline services as much as possible (and it will still struggle).
Of note this does link with an increasingly anti monarchy feeling for me - it’s a perfect example of how much they provide vs what we give them in privileges. Not a good deal for us.
I’m choosing to leave this thread now as don’t feel it’s particular helpful for me at this moment.
I have also been asked to increase my hours in NHS as my jobshare self isolating - a very good example!
