DandyPenguin completely agree with you. Audacity, shocking and irresponsible are the right words...with a sprinkling of hubris on top!

DandyPenguin · 25/03/2020 16:39

“Sprinkling of hubris” - great phrase Grin

Do you think they’d like it if someone else did the same? Changed up the colour of the Sussex Royal logo and slapped it and their words onto a new post quoting them? Or maybe Sussex Royal would like to do a new post modifying the words and logo of the NHS and turning it into their own branded message? There’s an idea for Private Eye, they can have that one for free on me.

KayakingOnDown · 25/03/2020 16:39

A couple of things. Like Dandy I'm suffering from suspected Covid at the moment. My symptoms of tight chest pain and breathing problems are not pleasant - but are being described as 'mild' in the official lexicon simply because I'm not in hospital. That doesn't mean I'm not at risk or it couldn't get worse very quickly.

And as regards to H&M doctoring the WHO advice and blatantly contradicting NHS advice by telling people, if they have symptoms, to 'seek medical care early', well.... I'm dumbfounded. It's just wrong. Having myself had the full gamut of symptoms, I have followed the official advice, which is to stay at home. To not seek medical care unless absolutely necessary.

What hubris and irresponsibility they have shown. It's utterly shocking. The post should be taken down immediately.

I suspect that Charles and Camilla were chauffeur driven up to Scotland in different cars so they won’t have been in contact with anyone else.

Apparently not. They were flown there by RAF plane.

No chance. Clarence House to Balmoral is a 9 hour drive. Even if you take off time for a police escort thats too long for none of the people in the convoy to need to stop for a pee...

DandyPenguin · 25/03/2020 17:07

Well as Bellehare says apparently they weren’t driven they were flown there. There we go, mystery solved.

Parker231 · 25/03/2020 17:21

Why did they travel to Scotland when their main home is in Gloucestershire?

BelleharePenguin09 · 25/03/2020 17:25

The idea of them being driven up in a limo each, all the way from London to deepest Aberdeenshire, made me laugh.

BelleharePenguin09 · 25/03/2020 17:25

Or wherever they started out from...

BelleharePenguin09 · 25/03/2020 17:40

Prince Charles and Camilla: Flew from Clarence House in London to Balmoral in Aberdeenshire by RAF plane on Sunday, March 22.

Ok, it’s from The Mail but I see no reason to query it. He was suffering “mild” symptoms then. Apparently.

RosesandIris · 25/03/2020 17:42

Perhaps Meghan needs to tell her father in law where he went wrong.

AlexaAmbidextra · 25/03/2020 17:56

I don’t have a problem with the Royals getting preferential treatment. Well, I do in theory but not going to get in a sweat about it as I wouldn’t expect anything else really. They’re hugely privileged and there’s nothing I, nor anyone else can do about it.

I do think though that their PR people do them no favours in trying to spin their privilege as normal. And of course, others pander to it. I remember when Charles broke his arm playing polo back when he was married to Diana. Great play was made of him being treated on an ordinary ward at, I think, the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, the local NHS facility. Which was true. But you can bet your life his surgery wasn’t carried out by the on-call orthopaedic registrar. He was on an NHS ward but was in a side-room and his own chef provided his food.

I don’t get too exercised by the privilege but do hate being taken for a fool.

RosesandIris · 25/03/2020 18:08

I wonder what he will do about his staff? He will either be infecting them or having to do things for himself.

Zogtastic · 25/03/2020 18:08

You have to zoom in on the question on the penguin 🐧 bar...

Zogtastic · 25/03/2020 18:10

I think that will depend how unwell he is. I’m sure I’ve seen guidelines on self isolating yourself whilst living with others. Presumably the people sharing his home will have to self isolate either there or somewhere else for 14 days now.

Zogtastic · 25/03/2020 18:14

AlexaAmbidextra - yes, if that happened as you describe then I certainly agree with you on that one. My husband bought me in a MacDonald’s once when I was in a hospital ward side room on my own...not quite the personal chef experience Grin.

DandyPenguin · 25/03/2020 18:16

Why did they travel to Scotland when their main home is in Gloucestershire?

@Parker231 I don’t know, I don’t work for them. Wink

Yes I know it was a rhetorical Q. Not sure why you’re asking it rather then stating your opinion on it but Ok.

We can only speculate, which is what people have done on this thread ... and on the at least three threads specifically about him having CV or the royals decamping.

Personally I agree with @lyralalala ‘s theory. I think he’s probably quite ill and they’re moving him to somewhere remote. Or there’s some reason why they need a royal family member in Scotland, to spread them out or something. I suspect there’s a lot going on behind the scenes, some of it fascinating I’m sure.

Still as long as the RF and indeed the world continue to follow the advice of the World Harry & Meghan Organisation (WHMO) then all will be well.

FannyCann · 25/03/2020 18:58

I shall be combing the next edition of Private Eye for evidence of plagiarism from this thread. Grin

MissEliza · 25/03/2020 19:09

I hope they wouldn't go to all that effort moving him if they knew he had tested positive. So many people would be put at risk. As it is, I'd like to know if he'll still expect to be waited on hand and foot when he's supposed to be isolated.

FannyCann · 25/03/2020 19:09

I can't remember which day I read it ??? Last Thursday when the Queen moved to Windsor - I'm sure I read that Charles and Camilla were isolating in Clarence House and The Cambridges at Kensington Palace. I thought at the time it was odd that they wouldn't choose to go to their respective country residences.
Clearly with the possibility of London under total lockdown at some point in the not too distant future it was sensible for them to get out. Plus I expect if P Charles is only mildly affected the prospect of an unplanned break in his favourite place with lots of self isolating walks must have been rather tempting.

I would think he has had far more social contacts (including his staff) than any of the rest of us over the last couple of weeks since he met P Albert of Monaco so I would think it makes sense to test him so that all his contacts can be aware.

I hope he makes a quick recovery. It is worrying that many reports suggest initial mild symptoms, a brief period of feeling recovered followed by a rapid onset of much more serious illness.

Just said on the news that Charles and Camilla arrived in Scotland on Sunday and was showing mild symptoms. He was tested on Monday

They've certainly gone there for a specific reason. I just wonder if we'll ever find out what that is
