More nasty carping from some posters.

She speaks well and she is a good role model especially for girls, and mixed race and black children. She is a good speaker. Why shouldn't she be invited.

SamanthaBrique · 08/03/2020 13:02

The royals are always leaving their kids at home while they carry out their duties. It's not something unique to the Sussexes.

YgritteSnow · 08/03/2020 13:04

But they're returning to see family. Not away somewhere random on royal duties. And let's face it some of those family members won't be around much longer.

TheMustressMhor · 08/03/2020 13:16

It isn't unique to the Sussexes that they leave their child behind when visiting another continent.

However, it was more the Queen's generation who did this. Prince Charles and Princess Diana took their children with them. The Cambridges did, too.

And anyway - I thought that M and H wanted to break free from so-called royal tradition. Or should that be Royal Tradition?

Isn't that the raison d'etre for SussexNotRoyal?

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 13:18

Did William and Kate take their children to Pakistan?

5LeafClover · 08/03/2020 13:22

I think she's been working full time since she got here. If Archie is in a familiar place with good care then that's much better for him.

Someone said on the previous thread that they looked like they were on a date at the Albert hall...and they did a bit. A senior officer handholding while in uniform is not something you usually see, but that and the clothes matching gave a strong message that they are almost merged as partners and that he would find it emotionally difficult without her support, which may be very true. I don't know ( strangely it made me think of a Richard Curtis film...like the end of love actually where the hugh grant smiles and waves on the stage after the curtain opens because love comes first...where in real life a pm would jump apart and disappear pronto).

Oldbutstillgotit · 08/03/2020 13:24

@ Encyclo no they left them at home. George and Charlotte have school . I did read that they crammed everything in to as few days as possible .

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 08/03/2020 13:29

Fair enough point about the Royals sometimes leaving their children behind, but presumably not unless you really have to and certainly not when returning to see family including elderly grandparents?

Do they think the Queen is going to snatch him?

But fears of Corona is a plausible explanation (I think it's over the top but many would understand and sympathise)

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 13:30

@ Encyclo no they left them at home. George and Charlotte have school . I did read that they crammed everything in to as few days as possible .

So their decision to leave the children at home
Is fine, but Harry and Meghan (lets be honest here, Meghan) are fair game?

SamanthaBrique · 08/03/2020 13:30

They left George behind when they went to India too. I can't remember if that was before Charlotte was born or not.

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 13:31

And Ireland this week

PelicanPie · 08/03/2020 13:31

I think there’s a difference. None of the family have seenArchie since November at the latest. They’re away for a week . I can’t imagine being away from a young baby for a week. It’s the family angle that’s the saddest though.

BillieEilish · 08/03/2020 13:31

To be fair, George and Charlotte were surrounded by family.

Archie is absolutely on.his.own.

MissEliza · 08/03/2020 13:34

I do remember K and W being criticised for leaving George to go on holiday when he was a baby. I couldn't have done that personally but at least he was with his granny. COVID 19 makes a good excuse for not bringing him but I suspect he was never going to come. Apart from leaving him so far away, what a shame his British family won't get to see him. I can't comprehend keeping your dcs away from their dgps.

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 13:35

On his own?!?!?

You know this how?

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 13:37

When they brought Archie to South Africa that did not suit people either.

"Why are THEY seeing him first?"

BillieEilish · 08/03/2020 13:38

He has no family there, in Canada Hmm We absolutely know this.

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 13:38

You said he was On. his. own.

Hardly

BillieEilish · 08/03/2020 13:40

Did you not understand my point?

George et al are surrounded by a HUGE extended family.
He is not.

A simple point. He is not even from that country.

Encyclo · 08/03/2020 13:43

I understand your point. He has another granny, she has close friends she can count on and who are clearly family to her.

As for the Cambridge children. They're extremely lucky to have the Midletons. Not everyone has that. Can't see the other side rallying round much. They're not that kind of family, and that s not their fault, it's a fact though.

Winterlife · 08/03/2020 13:44

@onlinelinda How is MM a role model for girls? Is it aspirational to gain worldwide fame by marrying a famous man?

Winterlife · 08/03/2020 13:45

None of MM’s close friends are hanging out in Saanich BC.

Wauden · 08/03/2020 13:47

Diana was not 'killed by the media', as H seems to think. Diana was killed by a drunk driver who had been taking pills, and she was not wearing a seat belt.

Oldbutstillgotit · 08/03/2020 13:48

@ Encyclo given the advanced ages of HM and PP would it not have been nice for them to have seen Archie , possibly for the last time ? No one seriously thinks he is on his own , I am sure he has a perfectly capable nanny but this visit is a bit different to a hectic tour of Pakistan.

SamanthaBrique · 08/03/2020 13:49

I honestly couldn't care less about someone else's childcare choices.
