Here's a follow on to the last thread, which was really enjoyable.

yolo never fear, I'm here lurking quietly away until needed..

CleansUpPenguinPoo · 13/03/2020 01:42

Lurking and laughing, you're all so funny, keeps me going after my traumatic dash to Aldi where there wasn't any loo roll but there was a friendly pickpocket. Friendly because he smiled when I caught him, and said he wasn't doing anything. Boy was he surprised when I grabbed him and got my phone back. Beware white-haired old penguins ladies who waddle walk with a limp!

SussexRoyalPenguin · 13/03/2020 06:33

I’m glad you got your phone back. I bet you felt a bit sick when you realised it had gone and then a bit angry. Well done for confronting him. He doesn’t sound a very good pickpocket, does he (fortunately)?

Brilliant!

Good morning, all. That Omid Scobie article really scarred me. I'll send him the bill for the psychotherapy services as well .

I have been cogitating all night: I suppose it's no surprise that anyone who feels a bit of power decides to tell others how to live, but what strikes me as intriguing in this whole situation is that, just like with celebs who join the 'words, not deeds' cohort, there is a complete absence of meta-awareness (choosing words carefully, here) or self-reflection at how ridiculous and ridiculously hard life can be. It seems to me that we all wait for signs and signals from people to demonstrate that they 'get' the absurdity of life. For example, William's 'I'd love to drink a whole pint of Guinness but they keep taking it away after two sips ' does show his awareness at the ridiculousness of his and our respective 'stations', but also highlights the mutual understanding that we all depend on each other (they on taxpayers, we on their brand). That Omid Scobie article, on the other hand, is completely devoid of any kind of nuance at all. How does that even happen? It's pretty hard to get through life with a poker face and without an absurdity barometer.

🐧 Biscuit

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 13/03/2020 09:11

(sorry been wanting to do that all night!)

I like your thoughts on the absurdity of life barley.

BelleharePenguin09 · 13/03/2020 09:19

Yes. You’d think it would be the other way round, really, given his position. I think he’s ok.

SussexRoyalPenguin · 13/03/2020 09:19

And another thing...!

H saying that he spent all that time in the army therefore he is more normal than the rest of the RF insinuates that he feels different and superior to the rest of the RF. Even The Queen. And his brother.

Good luck Meghan.

Maybe.... maybe... it’s been Aitch all along.

7Penguins · 13/03/2020 09:21

I like your musings too, Barley 🐧

yolo what’s up with that penguin and his jammy dodger? Shock

BelleharePenguin09 · 13/03/2020 09:22

His experience was hardly that of the average squaddie. It’s incredibly self centred to say anything like that.

SussexRoyalPenguin · 13/03/2020 09:22

It’s a Penguin Biscuit!!!

Does anyone remember the jokes?

RosesandIris · 13/03/2020 09:23

Agree with you Barley. There is a report that M has been seen on a walk with Archie, more comments from 'friends'. Got to keep the instagram hits going! No photos though!

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 13/03/2020 09:24

It's a Penguin Biscuit Grin. I wonder who came up with the name, and why they thought a biscuit should be called Penguin...

I think it's both of them. H used to appear to have a sense of humour, M... not so much. She's never struck me as someone you could have a giggle with.

BelleharePenguin09 · 13/03/2020 09:25

I wish the “friends” would just go away.

BelleharePenguin09 · 13/03/2020 09:26

The penguin biscuit joke is subtle. I had to think about it. Good one, though. 👍🏻

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 13/03/2020 09:29

"Subtle" is not a word often applied to me. I feel honoured bellehare !

ajandjjmum · 13/03/2020 09:41

I am very old. I remember what was probably my 5th or 6th birthday, Mum bringing me home from school, saying she'd got some Penguins for my birthday party. I was very upset when I saw them - I expected a lookalike biscuit!

Always stayed we me - penguins have always been a bit of a disappointment.

Myimaginarypenguinhasfleas · 13/03/2020 10:04

Morning penguins, I hope we are all thriving? (Not meant snarkily, I feel we have made that expression our own, by now).

Penguin biscuits are very disappointing. Like bourbons. I'm trying to remember if there are flavoured ones? Those might be tolerable.

I see from the DM that Jessica Mulroney has a new venture.

The 39-year-old fashion stylist is offering female entrepreneurs the chance to have dinner with her next month.

She says: 'Starting a business is hard, but one connection can completely change your course. I will be taking ten women out for dinner in April.

We can chat all things business and I can connect you with my world.'

There's nothing here to suggest MM will be part of that, either as a guest or as a "connection" but it makes me uneasy that this person is so close to MM (and probably H).

Or at least it would if they had been able to stay "Royal".

7Penguins · 13/03/2020 10:09

Jess is very savvy at monetising her relationships.
She’s looking for ten new MMs to elevate (through calling favours from her old, already elevated, MMs), who will then owe her favours.

It’s the circle of... something.

APenquinIsCuttingthegrass · 13/03/2020 10:17

7 your sentence made me think of lions....
And into the lions den does seem appropriate

Or lion bars

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 13/03/2020 10:17

I think I might be washing my hair (feathers?) on the night of JM's dinner. There's a lot of arrogance in that offer.

7Penguins · 13/03/2020 10:20

yolo yes, it smacks of someone getting off on playing a puppet master.

DandyPenguin · 13/03/2020 10:21

The circle of life?

From The Lion King?

I believe a new film version came out last year and there was a premiere or something. I wasn’t there alas. Do we know anyone who went?

yoloPenguinsEatfish · 13/03/2020 10:23

dandy Grin No, but JM does!
