I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

I think the Obamas went to a school in Washington.

shudup · 20/02/2020 14:07

Not a chance Archie goes to Eton.

CallmeAngelina · 20/02/2020 14:09

And I don't think there's much, if any, chance of Archie meeting his paternal relations again, particularly Prince Philip.

shudup · 20/02/2020 14:11

Well, old Philip probably doesn't care too much for children I'd imagine, but yes, it's doubtful Archie will see him again (wouldn't remember him even if he did). He's not even a year old yet!

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 20/02/2020 14:14

Much as I love America and its people, it does irritate me that lots of them probably think that all British schools, particularly the private sector, are like they were portrayed in "3 Men and a Little Lady" with smartly-dressed girls marching about in lines chanting Latin

And everyone has a Butler who opens the front door and plays a pseudo father for some reason and is an inheritor to a grand and ancoent aristocratic family that has fallen into poverty hence working for a living...

YgritteSnow · 20/02/2020 14:24

Whatever other criticism can be levelled at MM the one thing I agree with her on is wanting her child to be educated in her own country. I wouldn't want my child going though the British public school system and I AM British. I think Archie and his future was probably a big factor in getting this done now and not putting too many roots down in the U.K. I don't blame her for this tbh.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 20/02/2020 14:25

Mulroney has been doing the babysitting from what I hear.

I also doubt Archie will ever be educated anywhere in England. I'm not sure how much this matters when he's older or what the American equivalent is. We do know however, that a great many many International Royals, politicians (including Americans) and people of note send their children to English boarding schools, and the value in terms of connections cannot be brought. I have no idea what would provide similar in America. I realise I'm ignorant of the American system.

I mostly see him fraternising with celeb kids George and Amals, Beyonces, Mariahs, poss a few politicians of note.

shudup · 20/02/2020 14:28

I'm with you Ygritte

shudup · 20/02/2020 14:30

I wonder will Kate send them boarding? Did she board herself?

YgritteSnow · 20/02/2020 14:36

Kate boarded at Marlborough College.

FiveTwoFaster · 20/02/2020 14:38

Yes, Kate boarded.

Maybe the Cambridges will choose a mixed school if their children board so they can be together.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 20/02/2020 14:42

I think the Cambridges will go for mixed boarding. There’s a fair few good ones out there.

shudup · 20/02/2020 14:43

I wonder if that's why she's so focused on their early years as she knows they'll probably have to board. Wouldn't be fair to just send George boarding and keep the other 2 at home. I wonder what it's like boarding at these sorts of institutions?

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 20/02/2020 14:48

Wasn't the Queen home educated? Why can't the Cambridge children be educated at home?

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 20/02/2020 14:48

Both my dcs boarded shudup they both started as day pupils & then ended up boarding full time (their choice). One was at single Sex the other co-Ed & both absolutely loved it hence the ending up boarding full time.

Both schools were within 30 minutes of home so it wasn’t really necessary but it’s what they chose!

yolofish · 20/02/2020 14:53

I doubt Catherine would use a prep boarding school - I dont think she went til she was about 13, and she was bullied at wherever it was before she went to Marlborough. Cant imagine her wanting that for her kids. And she and William do seem pretty grounded as parents - well as much as they can be in their particular world I suppose.

Interesting reading!

DPLMom · 20/02/2020 15:13

We went to a co-ed 13+ Open Day (outside London) recently and they have it written in the brochure that Prince George is looking at the school. It was such a weird statement to make, especially if true!

Just read these on Apple news , mildly interesting.🤔

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 20/02/2020 15:19

I doubt Prince George will end up there then DPL

Discretion at these schools is usually key.

ilovejeffgoldblum · 20/02/2020 15:44

Can I just add, no one has mentioned colour except certain posters , nobody here knows what ethnicity any of us are. It's not mentioned (quite rightly!) . So you cannot throw racist allegations at all of us , as we may be poc .

DivinationDandy · 20/02/2020 15:46

Where George and Charlotte go - who else goes to their schools? What sort of clientele? Average Joe with a high income?

I can answer this one. I know a lovely woman whose DC go to the same school. She’s a doctor. And does fit into the ‘average Jane with a high income’ category.

DivinationDandy · 20/02/2020 15:51

I’m catching up so replying in random order as I scroll back.

@yolofish your last post, making a joke about the perceived ethnicity of us, makes me feel very uncomfortable. I know you’re joking but I think it’s inappropriate. Would you mind asking for it to be withdrawn? Smile
