I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

Definitely IGNORE any attempts at derailing. Do not engage.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:39

Ye, she'll defo come. Just to reassure people that her marriage is strong.
I guess Archie will go to grandma.

Butterymuffin · 20/02/2020 13:42

It's not been confirmed who has cared for Archie previously when they've travelled back without him, but I thought it had been speculated either Jessica Mulroney or the nanny had done so. Not sure Doria is getting a look in just yet. All guess work on my part though.

7Worfs · 20/02/2020 13:43

I think MM will be opposing Eton, just a feeling I have.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:43

Who is Jessica Mulroney when she's at home?

Allflightscancelled · 20/02/2020 13:43

TheMustressMhor I think M DOES get that her rank is slightly below that of the Duchess of Cambridge. And she doesn't like it much. It's understandable that maybe as a US citizen she didn't immediately get that there's a strict hierarchy in the RF, but still...

I'm another one who's been on these threads from the start, but name-changed now.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:43

No - it will be an LA school. Archie won't be allowed back here at all.

7Worfs · 20/02/2020 13:44

Doria is regularly papped in the US, don’t think she’s with the Sussexes often at all

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:45

Eton is where you send them if you want them to go into politics or a job in the City I'd have thought. Meghan has no such aspirations for Archie.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:46

Maybe a Nanny then? Can't imagine any of my friends taking on my child for a week?

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:47

It's sad in a way that George, Charlotte and Louis don't have their little cousin. Hard to understand the pressures otherwise growing up. Maybe second cousins will do.

TheMustressMhor · 20/02/2020 13:48

Meghan has no such aspirations for Archie.

No, indeed.

That kind of school, while expensive, is not where people who are likely going into showbiz are pupils.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:49

Where George and Charlotte go - who else goes to their schools? What sort of clientele? Average Joe with a high income?

CallmeAngelina · 20/02/2020 13:49

So, what extended family bonds will Archie have, growing up. Nothing on Meghan's side, apart from one grandmother, and by the looks of things, nothing on Harry's side now either.
For all the Queen's insistence that they both remained much-loved members of her family, I really can't see any cosy weekends round at Anmer Hall in future, let alone Christmas at Sandringham.
I had high hopes, having seen how Harry was with young children on his tours, that he would be a hands-on uncle to William's kids and that any kids he had in the future would be brought up in close proximity. Can't see that happening now.
And will Archie chuff go to Eton!!!! I would imagine that to be Meghan's worst nightmare.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:51

In fairness - North America is all Meghan knows apart from a brief few annus horibilus for her here. She's not likely to condemn her child to a British institution.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:52

Again, I think Meghan will have the final say on everything.

CanIHaveATiaraPlease · 20/02/2020 13:53

Well if it’s true M had been keeping a diary then I doubt the family will want her anywhere near them. Which makes me think she may not come back at all for the engagements.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:55

I'd say Meghan actually has an anxiety attack when she steps on British soil. I feel for her in that regard. She really hated it here and seems to be embracing the alternative life.

CallmeAngelina · 20/02/2020 13:55

Judging by what Meghan said in her interview with Tom Bradbury, I would think that Eton would epitomise for her everything about the stiff-upper-lip British upbringing that she pities Harry for having endured.

Much as I love America and its people, it does irritate me that lots of them probably think that all British schools, particularly the private sector, are like they were portrayed in "3 Men and a Little Lady" with smartly-dressed girls marching about in lines chanting Latin.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:55

How Harry survives in her shadow is another question!

Butterymuffin · 20/02/2020 13:57

It will be a somewhat isolating experience for Archie. Let's see if they have a second child.

@shudup Jessica M is Meghan's BFF, friend from Suits days, has 3 kids of her own. Seems to get called in to be a kind of combined stylist / nanny / personal assistant at intervals.

shudup · 20/02/2020 13:57

Judging by what Meghan said in her interview with Tom Bradbury

Not sure I've seen that interview - do you have a link?

Butterymuffin · 20/02/2020 14:00

What are the favoured schooling options for rich, upper-class (in U.S. terms, which I know doesn't really translate well) Americans? Anyone know?

Off to Google where the Obamas educated their daughters.

CallmeAngelina · 20/02/2020 14:00

It was part of the programme on their tour of Africa back in early Autumn.

FiveTwoFaster · 20/02/2020 14:02

I thought (can’t remember the source though) that Harry chucked in the Marines service because Disney bribed them with a massive donation to a charity (not sure which one). I don’t see why Harry couldn’t have gone to do his Marines thing and she could have done Disney but whatever. It turned out to be a very bad move.

Eton churns out a decent number of showbiz types; Damian Lewis, Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie, Eddie Redmayne. It’s not all Borises and Harold MacMillans.
