I go away for the weekend and thread 17 disappears Shock

March isn’t too far away now. Will we see their return for the commonwealth service?

Have they found a new home yet?

Will they make an appearance at Beatrice’s wedding?

i heard that too meercat. but maybe at the end HMQ decides on that. but they were right. i am not sure M deserves to be called princess.

bluebell34567 · 20/02/2020 11:55

i think Archie is a Earl.

drina27 · 20/02/2020 11:56

Now the royalty connection has clearly just become a springboard to market off rather than what H is/happens to be. It's undoubtedly being used as a means to make money. Just disgraceful.
Yes. It’s audacious and disgraceful. They are so transparent.

annielouise · 20/02/2020 11:58

I think there was one that had 3000+ signatures as of December but can't find an update.

drina27 · 20/02/2020 11:58

Jeez. So you're on thread eighteen now.

Apparently so.

I don't think we'll ever see MM in the UK again.

Do you imagine that is a direct consequence of these threads? (Oh dear...)

drina27 · 20/02/2020 11:59

Didn't Beyonce already call her 'my princess' or something?

Oh, in that case...

🙄

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 20/02/2020 12:00

They are the Duke and Duchess of Sussex but does that give them right to use it for whatever purposes they want to?

Good question. If they are going to be potentially (or be at risk of ) doing dodgy deals with private organisations, then it does potentially bring 'Sussex' into disrepute at least by association.

That said I think the answer is yes, they can keep it regardless.

Perhaps they should go for CeaseSex Royal

Lunde · 20/02/2020 12:02

British Vogue are holding a "Forces of Change" event on March 7 in London - following on from the edition that M guest edited
www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whats-on/141527-british-vogues-forces-change-2020

What is the betting that M flies in for that event ... but a community centre in Scunthorpe not so much

It will roll off the tongue of these virtue signalling celebs. They would love it! If I were Meghan I'd threaten with resorting to Princess Henry to get concessions in my favour.

janaus50s · 20/02/2020 12:04

I have a question. I’m in Australia so might have missed something. I saw that Harry was being stripped of his Military medals. Why is that? He served time in Afghanistan, doesnt that count? Thanks

annielouise · 20/02/2020 12:11

Referring to yourself as 'her HRH Duchess of Sussex' on your website with a straight face, trying to trade off a royal connection, which you only are because you married a prince, is antithetical to being a feminist and portraying yourself as a humanitarian and becoming head of a foundation.

I'm not for us having a monarchy but accept people do, but M is as royal as my dog's tail. To call herself a feminist, signifying equality, getting ahead on merit etc, and then snaffling all the benefits of the title to your own end in another country just beggars belief.

Lunde · 20/02/2020 12:12

janaus50s - I don't think that Harry is being stripped of the Military medals that he achieved himself. He is being stripped of his honorary titles and positions.

I think that H created some bade feeling within the Military when, as Colonel in Chief of the Royal Marines he ditched a Royal Marine event to honour the 30th Anniversary of Marines killed by the IRA (at very short notice when he had been invited months in advance) to attend the Lion King premier with M. It was at the Lion King event that H infamously touted for Disney work for M.

annielouise · 20/02/2020 12:14

janaus, he's not had his medals stripped from him. He's being allowed to keep his medals and the rank he obtained while serving in the army (Major, squadron leader etc - allow I do wonder how much was handed to him on a plate) but he's not keeping the titles of various heads of armed forces such as head of the Royal Marines.

annielouise · 20/02/2020 12:16

Yes, that was terrible, Lunde.

Butterymuffin · 20/02/2020 12:16

@janaus50s I believe he has to give up his honorary military titles, but keeps his military ranks. This discusses some of the detail:
www.forces.net/news/prince-harry-keep-tri-service-military-ranks-new-life-away-royal-family
I don't think things actually connected with his military service, like the medals, can or will be taken away. It's probably muddled reporting.

bluebell34567 · 20/02/2020 12:25

i dont like beyonce now, either. i couldnt understand the fuss about her before.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 20/02/2020 12:31

I'm not for us having a monarchy but accept people do, but M is as royal as my dog's tail. To call herself a feminist, signifying equality, getting ahead on merit etc, and then snaffling all the benefits of the title to your own end in another country just beggars belief.

You know when I brought into the initial facade, I actually thought she might not accept any titles. I also thought she'd have a modern parred back wedding with a simple suit of some kind and she might refuse a tiara.

That was in the early days when I thought there was some sincerity.

CatherineOfAragonsPomegranate · 20/02/2020 12:37

I truly couldn't understand Beyonce who I'm not a great fan of either, but who I feel has huge genuine talent, songwrites, produces, helps coordinate her stage performances as well as loads of other things, and has grafted since she was a child gushing over M in that way.

Then she watched in bemusement as srconds after the princess remark M and H hawked for disney voice overs! I wonder whether she'd refer to her that way now?

annielouise · 20/02/2020 12:39

I've never got the fuss about Beyonce either, bluebell. Her face at the Lion King line-up when H&M were touting for work was a picture though Grin.

Yes, Catherine - same, although didn't think she'd wear something as simple as a suit. The whole wedding dress stuff is another feminist argument for another time though. The IG has lots of references to 'their Royal Highnesses' but then American spellings of things, like gotten, so I can only think M wrote it and loves being able to call herself 'her Royal Highness'. The word 'Highness' has the word 'high' in it - so above you lot, the rest of us. Not compatible with what she says she stands for as a stated feminist.

7Worfs · 20/02/2020 12:40

Lunde throwing a grenade with that link Grin
Yes, IWB has to be celebrated in style and furthering one’s own image.

CallmeAngelina · 20/02/2020 12:43

I'm not a fan of H & M any more, after these recent events but I have to say, in the interests of fairness, that I don't think the Disney thing was a serious pitch. I think Harry was tongue-in-cheek about it and it got blown out of all proportion.
Doesn't excuse him ditching the military event, however.

annielouise · 20/02/2020 12:44

It's like becoming a princess is considered something worthy and to aspire to, which is just bollocks, imo.

Getting a title like that is the ultimate in getting something on no merit.

7Worfs · 20/02/2020 12:46

Angelina if it was a joke no one else got it - the Disney guy looked so put on the spot and uncomfortable, afterwords whispering to his wife and her throwing glances at the cheeky pair.
Beyoncé’s face was ‘WTF’.

yolofish · 20/02/2020 12:56

In what universe would any other Royal consider ditching a long-standing military event for a fucking Disney premiere?

On Planet Meghan it's obviously completely normal - after all, where are the opportunities with a bunch of Ruperts in fancy uniforms? When you could be hobnobbing with Mr. Disney and Beyonce.

IrmaFayLear · 20/02/2020 12:56

Absolute genius! [Thinks fondly of olden days of MN when I would regularly belly laugh at the witty posters...]
