He just sounds like a nightmare dad, despite doing his best to present himself as the victim here. The comment about Harry being his family whether he liked it or not? And 'what was happening was not making me happy@. He sounds like a self centred man, I think she may be much better off with no contact.

No idea why Meghan gets singled out about photos as I think both she and her husband chose very carefully which ones to release because look what happened on the basis of a couple of pics, the child was boss eyed, a funny colour, not the right colour hair, not hers, and on and on and on, Mn had to delete a thread berating a tiny baby FGS!! How would anyone else deal with those awful comments well they probably would be down the GPs for mental health help yet feel qualified to dish out bile

Wow - people had a lot to say about this! I dont think he was well supported at the beginning - seems like the RF and their staff dont do this very well when someone is joining the family. But who, in their right mind goes to the press first rather than their family? And the amount of hate for Meghan is amazing - who knows what she is like? the only thing I know about her is that I dont trust anything I read about her (and most of what I read in the popular press tbh). It's just hideous all round really. If he had been given a bit of support at the beginning in handling the media and the intrusion by paps then perhaps he would not have hit the f'it button and gone ahead and starting selling photos and stories. No one knows the truth except for the two of them, it's just unfortunate that it's played out in public I guess. Can't really judge either side, although apparently his other children don't speak to him either, so I imagine there's more to it then he is letting on, and she has actually been dignified and not gone into detail in my opinion.

If I were the Duchess I'd want some if the proceeds her Father has made through touting her to the media

For goodness sake, the man should know you just don't talk publicly about money that you spend on your children, that's family business. You certainly don't go on to say they owe you. Honestly, I lost sympathy with him whereas before that I was at least prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Bugger the media though!

• IMO he was portrayed very negatively in the UK media from the start. He looked more like a vagrant than the father of a future Duchess when pictures first started appearing of him when the engagement was announced. I read that he set up the papped pictures to show a more polished side of himself and the money probably came in handy what with him being due to mix with high society. I don’t think that reflected badly on MM at all but it was obviously a trap he walked into not knowing how things worked.

I think he has been treated despicably by his DD. By all accounts she didn’t even bother to introduce him to Harry before they were engaged which is usual is it not? That was long before the staged picture debacle. They were in a better position than him to fly around the world. They didn’t even bother to visit after the wedding to see him after his heart op, which he was even accused of faking!

I think she was embarrassed by him and her siblings and didn’t want them on a public stage to reflect on her so took the opportunity to cut him off. She was obviously treated as a spoilt little princess as a child which has given her narcissistic tendencies and her poor Dad is paying for that now.

I think he knew he had lost her long before he released the letter she wrote him and I don’t blame him being angry and bitter that the child he did so much for showed that she didn’t give a fuck about him.*
