So the saga continues
Thé Canadians are not happy about paying for the Sussexes security

I think that will be their downfall. They can’t actually fund the cost of their «freedom»
Other security experts saying that the cost of 24/7 private security is about £4million per year.

Problem is; they have skipped the a Royal fold, and have to pay the real cost of their security and accommodation . They will have to sell every aspect of their Lives to fund this.

I feel sorry for PH ,he is obviously in love with MM and wants to please her .however I feel she has manipulated him into being part of her world ,I think she maybe didnt realise the implications of being part of the "firm "and is a little out of her depth really .People compare her to Kate but she has a big family for support ,and has been allowed to stay close to them .They live a reasonable drive away, where MMs DM is in the US and new Mums like to have their own DM for support if possible .As far as the media are concerned they have not behaved well ,but PH/MM do not get that they are in a privileged position and are paid for by us .It will be interesting to see how they fare in North America without that support

She's gone and tbh the level of anger and hatred towards her now is so great that I'd advise her to stay right where she is. She's burned her bridges here

Does anyone on any of these threads actually hate her? In spite of all the hyperbolic accusations do we hate her? Are we angry with her? I'm not. I just don't think much of her and I think she's selfish and self absorbed and it's a toxic relationship that will end badly and I thought that from the very beginning. I'm annoyed that expressing that was constantly met with shrieks of "racism" but I don't feel anything like hate or anger towards her. Agree she's burned her bridges though. Who's going to want to see or meet her now?

Okay @WendyMoiraAngelaDarling maybe 'hate' is the wrong word. I strongly dislike her and think she's a self-serving narcissist, but I don't hate her, because I don't care about her enough to hate her tbh. She can fuck off though, quite honestly. She has used and abused the goodwill of the people of this country for her own ends and I personally think good riddance to her.

Oh I wasn't trying to cross question you @zafferana Smile. I've been discussing the use of the word "hatred" throughout all the threads. I wasn't nit picking just mulling it over in general.

As for Harry - I don't see the marriage lasting. I think he's going to be torn up about what he's done and gutted that his reputation is in tatters. He'll be the one flying back and forth and he'll miss all the bowing and scraping and the cachet of being HRH Prince Harry and all the advisors, having a private secretary and an equerry. I think it's going to be fucking hard for him moving to Canada. He's going to get just what he wished for ... but I bet it's not not going to be so great in reality

I agree with this. He has no role without the support structure of either the RF or the army.

Prince Harry will be stranded, isolated and alone within a short period of time.
He will have no option other than to return to the UK when he can't cope any longer.
Meghan, I think, will soon get sick of having him around.

She has form for ruthlessly cutting people out of her life who don't seem to have anything to offer her (from a monetary point of view).

I can't see people cheering Meghan and Harry at future royal occasions if they're trundling past in a carriage. I don't think people hate either of them but I wouldn't be surprised if a tomato or two landed in their laps.

Think I have caught up, been so busy at work!!

The “awkward” moments montage is a bit mean.

I would make an absolute prat of myself constantly if I was in the public eye.

I can't believe this is still going on! GrinThe queen agreed to a transition period, end of. there is no drama.

The amount of scrutiny of meghan's every single move and (imaginary) motivation is sickening.

So unbelievably bitchy.

There's been So much hysteria you'd think The RF are going to die, the country is going to break up and we're all going to sink in the sea just cos two people want to move to another country. Grin

See from the papers I was not alone yesterday in picking up on the highly unusual, extremely informal tone of HMQ's statement.

Very good drafting job, whoever did that. Exactly right tone and message, without saying very much, of course.

Last precedent- death of Diana- ( 'speaking as your Queen and as a grandmother'. That only happened at the intervention of Alistair Campbell.

You're quite right, Fraggot; among the many examples to choose from, I confess I forgot those two

I wouldn't worry too much either about Harry missing his copious staff ... after all they'll have Jessica Mulrooney won't they? Wink

Thing is, the one person it's really hard to cut out of your life forever (as many people on here know well) is the father of your child. Even if it goes south, Meghan won't be able to sever all ties with Harry.

another one who doesn’t hate her. I do think she’s hard as nails ambitious with the giant ego of a stereotypical LA actress though, and if she was genuine her diary would be rammed with visits to sick and poor people (even minor royals do that) rather than nothing at all, while spending her time planning trademarks for fridge magnets.

Harry has been a royal long enough to know long ago if he didn’t want the fuss of royal life, so why have the big televised fanfare wedding? Given his mother, the public would have understood and supported a discreet, private service. I just don’t buy any of it.

Yes, and he had a hard time leaving the army, because he missed the rigid structure and purpose. He's going to be completely without purpose now on a permanent basis. I think the Queen is right to worry about his mental health - if I was a member of his family I'd be worried too.

I don't imagine she'd want to; after all, every possible difference in opinion over Archie creates the possibility of a teary-eyed interview with Oprah ...

But Meghan's ticket is Harry. They won't get divorced. She will be moving in circles with the Clintons, Clooneys, Oprah etc and Harry will be trotting behind. I can't imagine he will enjoy this long term (or even short term) but I can't see what choice he has. He has burned his boats with his family and the British public and has made his bed and will have to lie on it. Possibly he'll get a ranch in Montana and be able to live in seclusion there whilst Meghan cuts a swathe through Hollywood.

Her trying to move him on also does look a little arrogant as he has been doing this “job” all his life, and as a PP has said I am sure he knows when to move on. Without her coming along and dragging him away.

It would piss me off if my DP did this to me.

I'm wondering why such a big deal has been made of Meghan not being required to take part in the discussion yesterday. There is obviously a reason.
I feel certain people beginning to back away. Oprah Winfrey denying there are any plans for a tell all interview. Trudeau denying the Canadian govt will pick up the security bill, Elton John expressing 'surprise'. They could end up untouchables if they aren't careful.
