What happens when the queen dies?

I know that. Harley's becomes king etc but what happens to the others? Will they be left money/homes/? Do they inherit anything? Is the queen allowed to leave them royal 'stuff'?

Might be a bit random but I just thought of it Grin

I don't need to calm down,it's in fact you who is aerated. I don't feel criticised.at all
Genuinely I couldn't fathom your Blushresponse

Manumission · 15/01/2017 14:26

TBF, Harry didn't need extensive training for the naked pool parties so it's not quite the same Grin

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/01/2017 14:28

Watched with dignity?and how would You know,or indeed measure such dignity? Would there be an indignity corner for those incapable of watching with dignity?

What a wonderful mental image that calls up!! Actually, I think I quite like the idea ... Blush Grin

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 15/01/2017 14:29

Masterclass in how to deliver with dignity an event that will be watched worldwide. That's what was meant, I think.

TrustySnail · 15/01/2017 14:33

Why don't we have regular popularity/approval polling on the various royals? That might be helpful for some of them

I think there is some kind of poll - I remember reading at the time of Diana's death that it was at an all-time-low for the Queen and Charles.

I've just found an Ipsos/MORI one via Google:

www.ipsos-mori.com/researchpublications/researcharchive/3720/Monarchy-popular-as-ever-ahead-of-Queens-90th-Birthday-celebrations.aspx

GimmeeMoore · 15/01/2017 14:33

Oh certainly I'll be rowdy in indignity corner.watching in a manner absent of dignity

BillSykesDog · 15/01/2017 14:43

Well we certainly found out Harry had an extensive 'something' from those naked pool parties (ahem) Grin

eddiemairswife · 15/01/2017 15:41

I think it's about time Harry decided what to do with his life. He's over 30; very, very unlikely to succeed to the throne; and though he spends time on various charitable activities around the world, and the Invictus Games there seems no kind of career or permanent occupation in front of him.

TSSDNCOP · 15/01/2017 16:28

OMG Gimmee I forgot my punctuation, thank you for your supercilious, wanky, arseholic reply. Were there enough in there for you? Or did that non-plus you?

For those of you unable to follow the event will be staged in a dignified manner and watched globally.

Itsnotmeitsyou2 · 15/01/2017 17:21

*"Oh certainly I'll be rowdy in indignity corner.watching in a manner absent of dignity"

This doesn't seem very nonplussed in either meaning? I think you're protesting a bit too much Gimme!

I think he'll take on quite a bit of Charles' work when Charles becomes King. Things like The Prince's Trust and the likes. William will obviously have the Cornwall Dutchy, but they've got to know that there are things that there's not too much point in passing from Charles to William only for William to pass to Harry when he becomes King - even if the Queen only lasts another 5 years then Charles would be mid 70's. His reign is going to be very short in comparison to his mother.

I know they are currently slated for being lazy, but I think a lot of that is to do with the fact they know what over the next 10 years all of the high profile organisations and jobs done by Prince Philip, the Queen, Charles and even Camilla are going to have to be split between the new King, Camilla in whatever role they set for her (even though she'll be Queen no matter how they dress it up) and them. The Queen will want all her charities looked after (and if she wanted them doing more I reckon they'd be doing more - she's very much the boss).

NapQueen · 15/01/2017 17:43

If Philip pops his clogs before Harry marries I've a feeling harry will become the Duke of Edinburgh and then take on all the DofE stuff too.

lalalalyra · 15/01/2017 17:45

That's all lined up for Prince Edward. I'd be very surprised if Charles goes against what his parents wanted/agreed too.

UnGoogleable · 15/01/2017 17:45

Well we certainly found out Harry had an extensive 'something' from those naked pool parties (ahem)

Ooh did we? That passed me by.. off to Google for important research.....

Manumission · 15/01/2017 17:45

Really Bill? I didn't see it. I must watch more internet video Grin

That sounds like standard second son stuff to me TBH.

NapQueen · 15/01/2017 17:51

Ah I didn't know that about Edward. I suppose Sophie gets involved with loads of sports stuff too.

lalalalyra · 15/01/2017 17:54

Ah I didn't know that about Edward. I suppose Sophie gets involved with loads of sports stuff too.

Yeah, it was announced when they got married. It can't happen until Charles is King and the title merges with the Crown and then it can be re-created.

I think now that the 60th anniversary year is over Sophie and Edward will take over the DofE completely.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 15/01/2017 17:58

Someone also suggested James as a name for royal children. James is the biggest no no of all names for royal children because James II was deposed then there was a long line of 'Jacobean' (as in James) Catholic pretenders to the throne. Charles was similar but not quite as bad but the Queen and Phil chose it anyway.

Pity Prince Edward didn't get that memo. His son is called James. He seems to have turned out ok so far.

BertrandRussell · 15/01/2017 17:58

I've had a bit to do with Sophie through a youth organization I''m involved with-she is brilliant with the kids.

Can't imagine Edward doing it, frankly.

MyVisionsComeFromSoup · 15/01/2017 18:16

Edward presented DDs Gold DofE award the other year, when Phillip was ill. I think he does them all now.

BillSykesDog · 15/01/2017 18:30

Another given that he was 8th in line to the throne when born and is 10th now I don't think it really matters. That post was in a direct reply to someone who said James was in the pool of suitable kingly names. It's not and you won't get any Royal in the direct line of succession called James.

GimmeeMoore · 15/01/2017 18:47

TSSDNCOP, your post was funny.it amused me.wondering how one watches with dignity
No I wasn't having a go,I was simply commenting how it got me wondering if one can watch with indignity
supercilious, wanky, arseholic You've simply overreacted, big time.to an innocuous post.

No I wasn't digging you up on punctuation.not my thing really.
And given I'm apparently using nonplussed wrong, why would I dig you (or anyone else)up?

But you've had a big tizzy

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/01/2017 19:34

it got me wondering if one can watch with indignity

I sometimes think those who watch from a union jack deckchair, dressed from head to toe in union jack items and clutching a union jack umbrella give it their best shot Wink

Pluto30 · 15/01/2017 19:39

I would've thought Henry would be a negative name, but Prince Harry is Henry...
