I felt sorry for Prince Edward's daughter looking awkward as she was plunged into a walkabout. Never seen so many royals mingling with the Hoi polloi

"Clare Balding would have been better."

She's doing some of it - perhaps they're in shifts?

(was it she who just told him off about swans?)

Oakley02 · 12/06/2016 15:31

That just looked like a real, honest belly-laugh from HRH - think it must be the animals on bikes

BennyTheBall · 12/06/2016 15:32

We have just put it on. What a load of cringe shite!

DirtyBlonde · 12/06/2016 15:33

The Queen's a Chumbawumba fan Shock Grin

Claire Balding is the live MC on the Mall.

Kirsty Young is the commentator/chatting from a gazebo in St James' park

Bit disappointed by parade tbh, themes a bit odd

It is a bit random!

LIZS · 12/06/2016 15:52

Weird! Bit of a gratuitous promo for M&S , Percy Pig and vans parked along the Mall Hmm

Justbeingnosey123 · 12/06/2016 15:53

I'm a little gutted it wasn't a giant corgie jumping out of the bag!!

Oakley02 · 12/06/2016 15:55

Omg - HRH actually looked like she was tearing up when they sang Happy Birthday Smile

meditrina · 12/06/2016 15:55

Nice to see HMQ grinning

LIZS · 12/06/2016 15:57

Impressive Darcy dancing in those heels but wish her dress had fitted better! Overall standard of dance a bit indifferent imho.

QueenEdith · 12/06/2016 15:58

" Bit of a gratuitous promo for M&S"

Is it gratuitous? I thought they were the event caterers.

Will-I-Am said he didn't even try the piccalilli (a very Britush menu?)

Oakley02 · 12/06/2016 15:59

What a lovely day for our dear Queenie - wonder what she will do when she gets home?

ExitPursuedByBear · 12/06/2016 15:59

I was hoping for a real corgi. Or George.

hugoagogo · 12/06/2016 15:59

It's chumbawamba!

meditrina · 12/06/2016 16:01

"What a lovely day for our dear Queenie - wonder what she will do when she gets home?"

Doff the hat and glad rags. Grab the tartan pull-ons and a couple of corgis. Settle in to watch Countryfile with a dubonnet and a party pack of twiglets.

Silvercatowner · 12/06/2016 16:03

Giles Brandreth needs to be locked in the Tower. He's utterly vile.

exLtEveDallas · 12/06/2016 16:09

What the actual fuck? Shock. Is David Jason losing his mind?

What was gorilla comment all about??

Yes but the only commercial organisation in evidence, but I bet not the only supplier involved in the day. There were plenty of other iconic book characters who could have been showcased but maybe George likes Percy Pigs.

Wtf with Will.I.Am , Aled Jones et al.

I'm surprised we didn't have a Great British Menu for the hamper contents. Sounds yummy though.

Jenijena · 12/06/2016 16:23

Re royal patronage... And I am a respectful republican who is not in the habit of defending the Windsord... My Dad is closely involved in a charity which has prince Edward as a connection (not sure patron/president/whatever). As well as the public handshaking, behind the scenes he directly, as well as through his office, links people up - possible sources of funding, experienced individuals in relevant charities etc. It's not just the HRH on the letterhead (although that helps...)

AGreatBigWorld · 12/06/2016 16:27

I loved it when Prince Philip banged on the top of the Range Rover and told them to hurry up!! Grin

originalmavis · 12/06/2016 16:28

I bet Liz isn't being serenaded by some oaf with a sodding drum synth up too loud and what sounds like a drunk uncle at a wedding singing.

Our neighbours (mews below us) are having a street party, which, yes is lovely for them but crap for everyone else. Funny enough noone who lives there is British.

meditrina · 12/06/2016 16:32

Paddington Bear was in it (in the 1950s section) and the Gruffalo (00s)

Not sure if there were any others.

Pimms got a lot of (probably free) publicity today!
