I felt sorry for Prince Edward's daughter looking awkward as she was plunged into a walkabout. Never seen so many royals mingling with the Hoi polloi

DD was one of the dancers and had an amazing time. Family got to see her quite clearly on TV at one point and she enjoyed every minute. I stood there in the rain to watch her - it was fantastic. It wasn't what I was expecting but I loved the animals on bikes!

I didn't hear that about the peacock feathers, but I can see that, I guess. My arms are aching this morning from holding them up - they were heavy!

You mean you were just behind the bagpipers wincher ?

The commentators said the placards were representing peacock feathers. Is that right? (They looked like owls' eyes to me).

But that's me nitpicking.

Everybody was fantastic. What an experience it must have been to have been a part of all that.

I was referring, mainly to the 60's dancers. They were very good, but It didn't go with my idea of what the 60's were like.

agirl I can see why you thought that - I was half thinking the same thing. But the t-shirts we all had to wear were really, really unflattering. They made even the thinnest people look a bit chubby. The dancers were all young and generally very slim.

I was one of the people in blue waving a placard. It was pretty fun- there were Percy pigs galore backstage, plus M&S brownie bars and millionaires shortbread. Tons of standing around though!

Who was the chap sitting between David Jason and Will.I.Am? He looked familiar but we couldn't think of his name

She did look a bit fish out of water but I thought lady Louise did very well. Good for her for doing the walkabout on her own.

Missed most of the parade and highlights but what I saw looked ok,probably played better if you were there. Was a bit Confused about Percy pig being included though.

Slightly OT but just going to say,LOVED the queen in green yesterday.

Hopefully this is clear enough - it's the menu. Port pie was delicious!

Yeah, I wanna know what was in the hamper and more importantly
How Much?

Report
AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 12/06/2016 20:11

What was in the hamper?

The telly seemed to concentrate on pork pies and piccalilli, and presumably there was more than that!

Thanks, JustBeingNosy

It sounds as if the person today had got hold of totally the wrong end of the stick, making his comments come across as ill-judged.

Just back from there. It was a brilliant day - especially when the rain stopped! We all got a really good view of all the royals and Sophie and Edward's daughter looked really comfortable walking the crowd (we were on 'their' section). The hamper was delicious and we got to keep them afterwards (and the ponchos!!).

Agree about Gyles B being annoying - bit of a know-it-all,

He loves to get in a few thinly disguised digs about Princess Diana.
We get it. You didn't like her. Get over it. pompous prick

I thought it was brilliant, especially the walkabout by the royals.

The parade was really good.
This probably isn't in the spirit of things, but we couldn't help noticing that there seemed to be an exceptionally large number of overweight people in the parade in general.

The 60's one didn't make sense, most people back then were stick thin (Twiggy) and dancers, especially from that time wouldn't have been overweight.
They should have had the 90's lot doing the 60's and vice versa.

Why does it 'say more about him'?

Report
Justbeingnosey123 · 12/06/2016 19:45

I have no idea how to link but according to the mirror this is what he was referring to,

'David appeared to be referring to a 1969 BBC documentary, entitled Royal Family, during which The Queen tells an anecdote about meeting a diplomat who had "arms like a gorilla".

In the footage, Her Majesty does not mention the diplomat's race or skin colour, and is clearly referring to his body proportions.'.

So it dose seem to say a lot more about him than her??

Report
Rdoo · 12/06/2016 19:44

There's no indication that her comments were in relation to race???

"Nooooooooo. Sure it wasn't Phil? That's a classic Prince Philip."

Why would you do a falsetto voice for Prince Philip?

Report
MoggyP · 12/06/2016 19:35

I think that clip looks more like the speaker's casual racism.

After all, he said it was a comment made privately to her family. So how the hell would a random comedian know about it? My guess is that this is not what it seems.
