Even with air con in our living room my poor girl is feeling it today.

How are your cats all doing in this heat?

Yes. I know I need to hoover. Not doing it til it cools down 😆

Mine's a finest pedigree bin cat plucked from an actual bin in Oman. So officially an Omani Mau, but my brother thinks there's possibly a fair chunk of African wildcat in her looking at the markings and the somewhat hissy and bitey tendencies

Better pic.

Our long haired boy has been panting :( our short haired boy has been okay though.

Mine is a melted blob who is sulking around the house and shouting at me occasionally to turn the temperature down. He asks for food, has a few mouthfuls, then flops again. Rinse and repeat. This is him with his pillowcase, favourite mouse and stolen shoelace.

I'm sharing the table outside with the fluff meister general.

Boiledbeetle · 25/06/2026 17:52

My cat has discovered a slight breeze is coming from between the floorboards. She has refused to move even when a full food bowl was wafted in front of her nose.

Mine's a gulf import so very used to temperatures in the very high 40s. Sometimes she will choose to lie on the inside window ledge to get just that little bit hotter.
Even she's been a bit melty today (due to fatness; she is on a diet). 2nd pic is when she was being queen of the garden last night.

What a beautiful cat @Pekkala ! I also have a desert import who is coping ok but sleeping lots. I give him a rub down with a damp tea towel every so often which he surprisingly accepts - he'd normally have my hand off!

Mine are mostly missing - they're in one of two gardens under the bushes or in the long grass. Occasionally one will wander in and demand food, then back out. They're worst when I get them in at night as I can't leave windows open much so it gets very stuffy, they're keen to get out by 5am.

They've got fresh water outside and I check their hiding places regularly but none of us are very happy with the heat.

What a gorgeous floof!

Mine are coping well. They're being sensible and staying inside or in the shade, though they universally will not sit in front of a fan.

My cat will not walk past the fan. He edges behind it and hopes it hasn't spotted him.

Mine works off the “cool belly, cool life” principle.

What a beautiful cat 🧡

Ours are both jet black moggies
Female has stayed in the housie on the cat tower
Male has been under the table or out under a shrub.
If he could he'd unzip his catsuit and ponce about nekkid like a sphinx cat
But he knows I don;t approve of real fur so he keeps it on and sits there grooming himself to de-fur and eyeballs me as he licks himself . The filth !

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/06/2026 23:10

Mine has spent the day between here and the water fountain. She's still there!

Mines gone walkabout haven't seen her all day. I suspect she's under the house there's a way in from a lean to. I'm not too worried it's 30c outside and in. All the windows are open and the back door. She can come in if she needs to.

Aw bless! She’s probably liking the coolness of leather

Dingdong90 · 26/06/2026 16:43

We are on a caravan holiday atm in skegness, poor dog is struggling so bad, we've had to go out and buy fans and place them all around to try and chase the hot air out . Currently 32 degrees inside 😭 been taking turns driving around with the ac on in the car to cool everyone down
Absolutely no escaping the heat today

Tuxedotony · 26/06/2026 17:59

I've rung the vet as I am worried about our boy. Didn't see him much yesterday, very unusual for him. He didn't eat anything (as far as I know). He's been sleeping in the garage and briefly came out when I called him earlier. He hasn't budged since. He's not panting and feels cool. His paws aren't sweating. Hope he picks up soon.

Honestly, that all sounds very normal for a cat in a heatwave. Ours were exactly the same yesterday but it's cooled drastically now and they're absolutely fine.

AuntieDen · 26/06/2026 18:15

Our boy is struggling, he's never good in the heat. He won't stay in the house which is at least 10 degrees cooler than outside though. Or sit in front of the fan we tried to point at him.

She seems to fare better despite being a total floof.

We have the box of lik e lix in the fridge and are administering chilled treats every 90 minutes or so and wer food if they deign to come in.
