My two are house cats and have been flopped like this for approximately 3 days! They are usually very lively but this is what greeted me when I came down this morning!!

Ours bloody loves it. She's a fluffy thing as well so I don't know how she's not cooking!, but she's consistently picking the patio in direct sunlight to flop in rather than the shade.

I have pacing from the upstairs bathroom to the front door, another sleeping on the tiled bathroom floor and one hiding in the kids play hut in the shade. Said playhut cat would not budge when DS wanted to play with his own toy. Poor DS!!

Mine is in the shade outside under my car on contrete at the moment which is quite cool. But I am keeping a very close eye on him today. He is an old boy and 19 next week. I had to bring him in yesterday and cool him down with a damp towel and 2 fans on him as he started to pant. Luckily after a few minutes he was okay up and eating and drinking and back to normal. I was so worried. So please keep a close eye on all your gorgeous cats.

The downstairs of my house is pretty cool. As is most of the upstairs. Only my bedroom is really warm and Penelope is avoiding it.

Had to name change to post this as I have passed this tip to many friends. My boy loves to be outside in the shade and under a wet linen tea towel which like the Mum slave I am I refresh regularly.

Mine are used to it (south of France), one of them even spends most of the day in the attic which is the hottest place in the house 🤷🏼‍♀️

Mine are miserable. One is out somewhere and refusing to come in, the other has barely been eating and is currently hiding in a corner trying to escape the sun.

All of ours have melted - a quick review of the living room and kitchen revealed these four blobs...
The two 'kittens' keep going out through an open window only to come in later feeling very hot.

The old lady has spent the entire day on my bed in the cave like environment we have managed to create in there until I tried to take a photo. Now she has fucked off in disgust and is probably plotting her revenge somewhere shady.

The kitten (who is not allowed out yet) is confined to his room and is too hot to play/attack. He wants to but then just flops….

I saw an article in the Guardian about a Libyan Sand Cat - thought to be extinct in that country, but a photographer captured some footage. I love how this beautiful cat is digging out a cool spot under a very small shrub - it only just manages to fit into the shade. Hope the link works:

Red zone here too. My cat is doing ok, she likes a very shady spot underneath a bush near my front door but she will come in when it gets too much and lay on the tiled floor. She was out nearly all night so I suspect she slept out there. Indoors is 27 now, outdoors is 35.

My youngest is now in after being out for 9+ hours (unheard of for him) and the one who's been moping about is now baking himself on the patio 🙄

Our cat hates the heat - to be fair she has a lot of fur! She’s spent most of the hot weather under the dining room table but is currently under a chair and hasn’t moved all day…

Mine works off the “cool belly, cool life” principle.

Mine's a gulf import so very used to temperatures in the very high 40s. Sometimes she will choose to lie on the inside window ledge to get just that little bit hotter.
Even she's been a bit melty today (due to fatness; she is on a diet). 2nd pic is when she was being queen of the garden last night.

Poor critter is black and so is presumably absorbing heat. She normally hides in the shade of bushes at the back of our garden but (very sweetly) crawls out to come and say hello to me when I go to tend to the laundry drying outside. Poor thing. 🥵

My two Arabian Maus are fine, spending most of their time outside, under shade. I'm giving them more water with their wet food and lickies

Mine is loving it, but then I brought her home with me after living in a very hot country where I adopted her. Think she thinks she’s gone home and is in heaven.
