Searching for the unicorn of cat litter

I’m on the hunt for the perfect cat litter. Unscented, clumping, not dusty, low maintenance.

Any suggestions? Happy to spend my way out of this challenge.

World's Best, I swear by it.

Definitely crystals. It’s not clumping but it is THE best litter ever. Wee soaks into the crystals, they turn yellow, they absorb the smell, and last ages! The bag says 1 month, I change mine every week but I have a very strong urine indoor tom cat. When I only had my demure girl cat, the litter would easily last 3 weeks.

I use the Pets at Home "Ultra Performance Clumping" litter. Works pretty well.

ETA - there is a bit of dust when you pour it out, but it's not bad.

Pixiedust1234 · Yesterday 20:10

I like Sainsbury’s own ultra clumping. It's a little bit dusty when you pour though. I wouldn't class it as a unicorn but it's one most people will have access to.

RandomMess · Yesterday 20:21

Scoop by KatKin but available at Zooplus cheaper far less tracking than Worlds Best

muppahuppapuppa · Yesterday 20:24

I use the cheap one from Sainsbury’s

Non-clumping though

Doesn’t smell 😊

came on here for the unicorn kitten tax 🥺

Laiste · Yesterday 20:32

I have two cats and the female flicks litter all over the bloody place no matter what type it is - and then tracks it all through the house 🙄

Ive recently changed from wood pellets to a white clay ball litter and by god the little white balls are sharp when you stand on a random one in the hall in bare feet 😡

RandomMess · Yesterday 20:37

@Laistehave you tried wood pellets with sieve tray system, brilliant for contain pee smells

NotDarkGothicMama · Yesterday 20:40

Another vote for Katkin Scoop. They do a crystal version and a pea millet one. I found the pea millet one tracked less so use that. It doesn't smell, isn't dusty and I only need to change it once a month, with top-ups in-between.

All kittens are mini unicorns underneath. Just magical little beasts 💕

I found that cheap stamford one mentioned above to be incredibly dusty.

Wiggleinherwalk · Yesterday 20:44

I get the Catit Go Natural pea husk litter from Amazon and really like it.
Used to use clay litter but was sick of the tracking, dust and smell. And heard it's environmentally terrible. Tried wood pellets and didn't like the smell or the soggy mulch.
It's so much better at not tracking as it's bigger pieces, very good clumping, we get the vanilla multicat one and it's got a nice vanilla smell but it also comes unscented. It's low dust, eco friendly.
Only downside is it's a bit spendy, but it lasts for ages - one box lasts a month.
Our cat sitter last week said it's the nicest smelling litter she's come across!

JudgementalCat · Yesterday 20:44

Tesco ultra clumping. Cheap, but very good.

I use Untamed, it clumps so well and a bag truely lasts a month. It does track quite a bit though.

Untamed's blurb:
'Our 100% plant-based Cassava Cat Litter is rapid clumping and odour neutralising for easy clean-ups and fresher litter boxes. Its dust-free design preserves the air quality in your home so both cats and their humans can breathe a little easier. Even better than that? It’s fully biodegradable, made only from renewable crops of corn and cassava, so it’s not only good for you and your cat, but for the planet too. One bag lasts one cat one month – so it’s long-lasting too'

The unicorn arrives next week. She is a divine little rescue and practically perfect in every way. She deserves only the best! Pics to follow when she’s safely in our arms.

Tigerino premium from zooplus

I used to use sophisticat the pink one but I believe it is now called Felight. It does leave white paws with a little pinky colour hue but it’s the best litter I have used for my kitties. Non clumping and minimal dust and the pieces of clay are bigger. Had to get a big deep tray for my pair as when they were kittens it became a bit of a game as to who could burrow to Australia the fastest! And litter went EVERYWHERE! Grin

DiggoryVenn · Yesterday 21:48

Cats Best for us here. We have 2 Maine Coons and a Ragdoll so there is a lot of activity in the tray. Provided you pick out the wee cakes and poo regularly, it lasts ages and doesn't smell. It is pricey but I think it's worth it.

This is amazing stuff https://www.petscorner.co.uk/cat/cat-litter-accessories/cat-litter/felipure-unscented-multi-cat-litter/
expensive but well worth it
