New tiny kitten

Hello! We have acquired a teeny kitten (supposedly 9 weeks old) but she’s the runt and is very small.
i haven’t weighed her, we only got her today.
We’ve kitten proofed the lounge and are keeping the dog and the other cat away.
She has one snotty eye which I’m cleaning every couple of hours with cooled saline solution
I’ve bought kitten milk and dry and wet food (the same as she was having where she came from).
Shes done a wee and a loose poo in the litter tray and mostly slept. She wasn’t interested in the food or water or saucer of milk so I syringed about 5ml warm kitten milk into her and that woke her up a bit. she then ate a little wet food.

are we doing the right things?

If you have a good local cat rescue you could ask them for advice and also tell them about the home she came from. Our local rescue would probably try to help.

If she’s hypothermic she’ll be using her calories and more to keep warm, so keeping her warm as well as a good diet is crucial. I once lost 5lb in a week because my central heating boiler was replaced, also in winter.

🥰 so pleased she’s putting on weight and keeping warm. She’s gorgeous.

Don’t worry it’s not too hot, she loves to lie on the radiator (armchair right next to her!)

My vet recommended strong cold tea to bathe kittens eye. The tanin helps apparently. Worked for us and we have a dozen cats

Eeep! Such a tiny cutie. We had one and in similar circumstances. She's now 13. She still has a dodgy tummy though and stayed very small despite huge food volumes.

She did a beautiful solid poo just before bed, it took her a while to part with it! she had had loose stool for a long time (according to the person I got her from) but has had worm treatment x2 and the prescribed food for tummy upset which seems to have done the trick.
Will update with more tax today
