Hello! We have acquired a teeny kitten (supposedly 9 weeks old) but she’s the runt and is very small.
i haven’t weighed her, we only got her today.
We’ve kitten proofed the lounge and are keeping the dog and the other cat away.
She has one snotty eye which I’m cleaning every couple of hours with cooled saline solution
I’ve bought kitten milk and dry and wet food (the same as she was having where she came from).
Shes done a wee and a loose poo in the litter tray and mostly slept. She wasn’t interested in the food or water or saucer of milk so I syringed about 5ml warm kitten milk into her and that woke her up a bit. she then ate a little wet food.

are we doing the right things?

Desperate to get out into the big wide world 🌍 again. Poor old Pen under house arrest.

She’s saying “ please,Mummy….”

justthecat · 09/05/2026 20:31

She wants to go out and catch you some gifts to say thank you 🐭

Toddlerteaplease · 09/05/2026 21:38

My Pen in her suit. It apparently prevented her from walking.

It looks like a big sock. Poor puss

Little paws on the door handle! Adorable 😻
She’s still so tiny 💕🐾

FlickyFlo · 10/05/2026 09:47

Awww, sitting by the cat flap with sad expression "what have I done wrong, why can't I go out?" Hope you're healing well, Penny, and you'll have your freedom soon.

Ha! that would imply a recognition of wrong doing .
That cat is thinking "C'mon now , open this door . Have you broken it or something ? Has that Merlin broken it?"

Tap Tap Tap the tiny paws to make the point . Grin

How long before she can go into the garden @Fatiguedwithlife ?
She is such a little cutie 😻

Fatiguedwithlife · 10/05/2026 17:49

I gave in and let her go and sunbathe today. She got a fright from next doors cat and fell jumping off a chair so I hope she hasn’t hurt herself 😞
fed her some nice wet food and put her to bed for a nap. She seems ok.
Meant to be indoors for 10 days 😮 that was never going to happen! She is behaving like there’s nothing happened at all

Just a tiny bit worried because it looks a bit open, or is that an optical illusion?

HatStickBoots · 10/05/2026 23:31

I’m a bit worried too now.. I hope she’s ok ❤️

Fatiguedwithlife · 11/05/2026 09:12

No it looks completely healed already (I know inside takes longer) the bit you can see are the dissolvable suture strings.
Shes fine today, slept with me last night and woke me up with the usual tuna kisses and chewing of fingers!

I've had 2 feral girls, one had already had at least 10 kittens, and they didn't get PJs or kept in, the really feral mama was kept in for one night only and let loose next morning after breakfast, she was going nuts trying to get out. The other was kept in for a night and a day and then let out. They were both fine. For ferals with babies they let them out as soon as they are awake and fed, so that they can return to their babies.

Both came back to me daily for food, so I used to feed them at the left hand end of the feeding area so that I could see their shaved side and check they were healing.

Just popped home to check on her, wound looks great

What a gorgeous little kitty she is! You are so lucky to have each other! She’s very affectionate.

CherryPinkAppleBlossomWhite · 14/05/2026 09:16

She's gorgeous 💕

Pudmyboy · 14/05/2026 10:57

She is so lovely 😻!
Is she still under house arrest?
Is she still best pals with Merlin?
Thank you for all the updates, Penny pictures make my day! 😻

Iheartmysmart · 14/05/2026 11:26

Gosh how grown up does Penny look in that latest photo! She’s like a mini cat now rather than a kitten. I’m glad she’s recovering from her op - I can’t believe how neat and small her incision was, my poor little girl had a huge cut in comparison to her size. Not that it stopped her being an idiot.

I agree with @Pudmyboy Penny pictures make my day too.

Davros · 14/05/2026 14:09

Lovely photo, thanks OP
