Do they have the run of the house? Do you close all bedroom doors? Shut them in a room?

Pretty much the run of the house. We used to have 2 and they would sleep together under the sofa. One died at Christmas, much to our distress. The other now divides his time between my pillow and my DD's bed. We tried shutting him out and he pulled up the landing carpet trying to get in. So I have to tolerate it as Im sure hes still grieving 😭

In cold weather one on the bed between us and one under the duvet between us.

Hot weather one in my wardrobe and insane cat has to be told it's too hot to be under the duvet so she makes do on the bed.

She is shut in the utility room where she has 3 beds to choose from, food, water and a litter tray. There is also a cat flap but that's shut. She isn't allowed out at night as she rows with the perfectly nice cat next door and they have screaming matches at silly o'clock if she's allowed to roam. They seem to be better at avoiding one another during the day.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who wakes up with a furry hat.

My cat has the run of the house. He sleeps on my bed for so long, then goes downstairs and sleeps on a blanket on the settee. Every cat we've owned has been the same.

He has the run of the house! The only room he's not allowed in is DD's because he pounces on her in the night to wake her up to play Grin

Two cats used to be shut downstairs in dining room/ kitchen/ play room they all link on from one another without doors. But they started to mess up the play room throwing cushions around and knocking down kids toys. They now sleep upstairs in their room, has cat trees and litter tray in there. They seem happy

In the kitchen. I occasionally relent and he can sleep in our bed, but remember why he’s shut in the kitchen when he’s relentlessly pulling my hair at sunrise. Our previous cat would give up and cosy down with us for a bit, but this boy is not for that.

The kitchen has his cat tree, my office chair with a fleecy blanket, his cat bed, plus litter tray, food and water. It’s a big room, he’s fine. he has a wicker basket of toys in there and some mornings it’s like he’s had a party overnight with everything strewn around.

She has the run of the house. Usually she starts the night with us, goes on an adventure downstairs and then wakes up on my head.

FairViewRosie25 · 20/01/2026 20:12

When I had one he would sleep on the bed or in the tiniest cat
bed known to man

Arlanymor · 20/01/2026 20:14

When I had cats they were always on my bed. Could go wherever they wanted. But always chose my bed.

You’ve just reminded me of the day I woke up with a pair of Persian ear muffs. It was mid summer and absolutely roasting. So why they decided I needed keeping warm, I’ve no idea. 🤣🤣 thanks for the memory.

Run of the house, cat flap to garden always open unless it's Zero or Minus degrees when its in-traffic only, cats can't get out.
Cat 1 (Rescue, 6 years next month) will sleep with me / on me when it's cold; for a tiny thing he somehow manages to shove me to the cold side of the bed (just bought a super king duvet in the sales for my double bed).

Cat 2 (Maine Coone, 3 years approx, walked in last year with injury, entire male, now fixed and registered to me) usually sleeps on the end of my bed, like a dog. Big bugger, he's only just figured out he can get through the (average cat size) cat flap thank goodness, as I was leaving the kitchen window open. He also likes the bed in the window above the radiator, and the "window" bed (it's like a shelf hooked to an open top window). Love high spots.
Cat 3 (fully feral, maybe 6yo) pops in and out through the day and night for kitchen snacks, can occasionally be found asleep on the spare bed on chilly nights. He has several beds set up in the garage, door jammed open for him to come and go; favourite last few months is the igloo (that my Cat 1 rejected), which is inside a very stout cardboard box set on it's side and covered with thick rug. He's a lovely thing and once, just once, walked up and rubbed himself along my leg ...

All 3 males and get along OK - Big Boy is 7.4 kilo's and soft as butter.

Found my neighbours (male) cat asleep yesterday in the cubby hole on the new cat tree, startled my Cat 1 who hadn't figured it out as a hiding spot.

God I love my cats. Was supposed to be just the one though.

They mostly have the run of the house though usually shit them out of the kitchen/diner as they try to break through the cat flap

Trev sleeps on the corner of my bed, Trina sleeps next to or in-between my legs

Love those names!
