There is a pregnant cat in DD's bedroom

She's not ours and not chipped. The vet who saw her last night says she's about a week off giving birth. I emailed round all the local rescues last night to try to find someone with space to take her and will phone this morning.

She has wolfed down a few tins of kitten food and used the litter tray. She has biscuits, water, toys and a scratching post, as well as a variety of beds and boxes with blankets. DD is in tears about handing her over to a rescue and is insisting that YouTube has taught her everything she needs to know to safely deliver kittens.

Fingers crossed for this little cat finding a rescue place soon please!

And DD already has two kittens at home to care for, just not ones that I'm allergic to!

Kitty cat knew exactly what she was doing when she found you. Good job @NotDarkGothicMama 🐈‍⬛

Pudmyboy · 19/08/2025 22:21

Oh my, what a day, so sad about the little lost one but glad the others survived and are looking to thrive. What a brilliant mum cat! She landed on her paws with you and the fosterer!❤️
Was she spayed after delivery was over?

Spendysis · 19/08/2025 22:53

Great news mummy cat and her kittens are doing well. Thank you op and the foster carer for looking after them I hope they all find lovely forever homes

NotDarkGothicMama · 19/08/2025 23:05

Yes, she was spayed at the same time as the c-section so won't need a second lot of surgery.

It was a lucky day for little cat when she met you. It seems likely she and her kittens would be dead if she’d given birth on the streets.

Thank you for your kindness, OP. It’s all the more selfless of you, given that you were allergic to her.

@NotDarkGothicMama donation sent to South Bedfordshire branch

thanks again for your kindness

Thankyou, that's amazing.

I agree with pp, thank you for looking out for her rather than shooing her out the door. You have saved five precious lives 💕

Our own cat was a very skinny stray who kept showing up and we felt we had to spay her as she was in heat despite her condition, after keeping her indoors until the stitches were out... well, DD wouldn't let her go 🙄😂

Huh?! That makes no sense

Sphinx maybe?

We have Siberian kittens, who are very low allergy. Usually close contact with cats or their bedding gives me hives, streaming eyes, sneezing and sometimes asthma attacks. Our kittens like to sleep on my pillow, curled around my head, and I'm totally fine. I never thought I'd be able to have cats and still can't believe my luck TBH. I would love to be able to give mummy cat and ger kittens a home but sadly it's just not possible without putting my health at serious risk. Even having her for the night in a separate room and DH and DD doing the majority of the care made me sneezy.

Here's little cat snuggling with her babies. They're putting on weight, she's had a checkup and they're all doing so well.

Pudmyboy · 23/08/2025 21:05

I love how contented they all look and the one of mummy cat cuddling her kitten just made me die of cuteness 😻😻😻😻😻

Spendysis · 23/08/2025 21:10

We have tuxedo cats who came into the world via c-section. Their mum was a young stray as well. They are the sweetest things.

Interesting that you are only allergic to certain cats. My DD never had any issues around cats until we got ours (including the cats at her dad's house who sleep in her room) and now shes sneezing all the time. I'm not sure how we deal with it long term as I'm not going to rehome them.

Thankyou so much! I feel bit guilty for landing them with the cost of an emergency c-section, on top of looking after little cat and her kittens. They are adorable though. The cuddle photo is just perfect.

@KickHimInTheCrotch we've got HEPA filters in every room running 24/7. That might help. There's also a special range of cat food designed to reduce allergen production. I haven't tried it so I don't know whether it works but it's Purina Pro Plan Live Clear.

Here's little cat and her dumplings. Their ears are starting to unfold.

They are so adorable! She is such a good Mum 😻
I love the black-and-white kitten on the end, though they are all gorgeous.
What a lovely ending to her story ❤️
