Cat getting…erm…’aroused’ during biscuits

I have a neutered male cat who’s about 20 months old. He loves doing what the Americans call ‘biscuits’ (I don’t think there’s a British English word for it). He does it two or three times a day and will happily perform it on any family member. While he’s biscuiting, he often moves the lower half of his body onto its side, revealing an erect, cactus-like penis. It’s not a problem (he’s neutered and there’s no ejaculate) but I was wondering just what is going on here? Why would doing an action that is the instinctive action a kitten performs to get milk from its mother cause this apparent sexual arousal? It all seems a bit Oedipal. Any insights are welcome.

I don't know why but my cat's the same. I think it's just pleasurable as their penises rub against the blanket.
Was your cat neutered late by any chance? I heard that if they're neutered after 11 or 12 months, they've already started adolescence and have discovered sexual pleasure - and will know how to arouse themselves. My cat was a stray and neutered at about 18 months.

Oh God, my cat can't do kneading without shagging the thing he's on either.

Sometimes I leave him to it but if it's the umpteenth time that day I shoo him and the look of absolute dejection on his face breaks my heart.

I don't even mind the shagging, it's the damp patch and him cleaning himself afterwards that makes me heave!

Yeah, my cat does this too and it quite puts me off him! 😄 Normally with any kind of soft blanket.

I’m not sure if the late neutering theory holds water as he was done very young and yet I have a rescue male that wasn’t neutered until he was a couple of years old but has never done it.

Different species I know but my dog's willy sometimes randomly pops out when he's excited about getting a treat or a new tennis ball. So it's obviously just a male mammal thing- something that happens when they are happy or excited- even in a non-sexual way. Who knows, maybe it's the same for male humans?!

(Ddog is also neutered)

He joined us at 7 months old, he was still intact and we had him done straight away. I think that’s slightly older than the recommended neutering age but not too far off.

I can't remember who but I do recall a poster on here saying it wasn't the act itself she found disturbing, it was the way he would stare at her straight in the eye while "enjoying" his blanket.

I've never had a cat that did that. Although a cat that shall remain nameless (who used to try and break into our house regularly) did have a soft toy he was overly fond of. 🙀

Yes my cat Reg is a humper too. He does what the Americans Biacuits and the British English term for this is milk padding - which explains what it is!
But yes, Reg is a sex pest and does it with throws and cushions and me if I'm wearing a dressing gown. Sometimes multiple times a day!
I've had to put my MS Teams background on 'mist' because when I work from home and am on a call where my camera is on, I don't want to broadcast a sex scene 😬

It’s not a universal trait. In fact, this is the first boy cat I’ve had who does erotic biscuits and I’m a bit surprised at how many posters have cats who also do it!

Yeah, this is the bit I hate. One of mine is a horrible blanket shagger, purring loud as anything and staring you right in the eyes. Creepy wee bastard. He gets moved on quickly (and then howls sadly in the hallway as though we've ruined his day).

Our neutered male cat also has a blanket girlfriend. We shut the door to respect their alone time.

This is reassuring. We have two rescues this year and I had never had a neutered cat do this.
I shoo him away. It’s a bit too intense, so he goes and finds a lonely blanket.

My boy cat is forever humping on my bed. He is neutered, no idea if anything comes out…..I decided it was best not to inspect the blanket too closely. He was neutered late as is a house cat and waited for him to be a bit older.

Also mine audibly grunts while doing it, loudly, you can hear him from outside the room. Sounds like a porn film!

Not all of them. I have two male cats who appear to be completely uninterested in any sort of sexy time. To be fair, one of them no longer has a penis, let alone testicles so I can't blame him for his lack of interest.
