Cat getting…erm…’aroused’ during biscuits

I have a neutered male cat who’s about 20 months old. He loves doing what the Americans call ‘biscuits’ (I don’t think there’s a British English word for it). He does it two or three times a day and will happily perform it on any family member. While he’s biscuiting, he often moves the lower half of his body onto its side, revealing an erect, cactus-like penis. It’s not a problem (he’s neutered and there’s no ejaculate) but I was wondering just what is going on here? Why would doing an action that is the instinctive action a kitten performs to get milk from its mother cause this apparent sexual arousal? It all seems a bit Oedipal. Any insights are welcome.

Ours favours whichever member of the family is wearing a nice woolly
jumper. He’s been busy on me today as I’m wearing a fair isle sweater that he likes, which has prompted me to start this thread.

I have 5 boys and only Wank Bernard does this we do also have one who dry humps his brother none consensually

our boy has a beloved stuffed doggy toy that has been sadly abused over the years. he only gets 'the treatment' at night when we're in bed, but sometimes I'll wake up to hear much enthusiastic meowing and jumping about downstairs and know that the cat and doggy are having sexy time. little pervert

I think I have to ask how it is that he no longer has a penis?

I'm so glad to hear there are other cats like my rampant Ragamuffin. I have other male cats, various sorts over 30 years of my life, and they haven't displayed this behaviour so it was quite a shock when I first witnessed it. I asked around my other cata owner friends and they had not heard of this with cats. I did wonder if it was because he was an indoor cat and maybe he didn't have the opportunity to experience the real deal with other cats. It used to happen quite a lot around the 2 year mark too (teenager time perhaps?). No fluffy cushion/unmade beds/fluffy throws are safe! And when I try to move him he makes this weird strangled like cry and looks very put out. DH thinks think we should ignore and leave him to finish.

Sadly it had to be amputated after repeated urinary blockages from which he almost carked it. The vet warned it was the last option after multiple hospitalisations, catheterisations and medications. We were told it might not work and that even if it did, many cats die within a couple of years of the procedure.

But he had it done when he was 2 and he is now 12 and going strong! Doesn’t seem to mind being an actual non-binary cat 😂

Our car outgrew it when he was a few years old thank goodness. He used to go for balled up bathrobes.

As for making the biscuits- they are kind of like scones. So it's this on top left that "making biscuits" comes from.

This is a light-hearted thread but I hope it doesn’t put you off male cats. Most of them don’t do the naughty biscuits and when my cat does it I see it as amusing rather than a problem. I’ve had a few boy cats as pets over the decades and they’ve all been loveable funny and affectionate creatures.

I've had lots of male cats and only one was like this. He was probably the most affectionate boy I've had and I miss him dreadfully. His fave thin was in bed wrapping himself around my forearm and doing some kind of frontage with his little pink lipstick popping out. He's also do this with cushions and teddies.

I have never had a boy cat get excited whilst doing this! Had one that dribbled incessantly and would make everything wet.

And we call the biscuit thing "pudding-ing."

My parents have one of these, and he is a right dirty old man! He seemed to get especially aroused by me, I'd be stroking him on a throw, and he'd start to erm get excited and stomp back and forth on it/rubbing on it

He'd then get off and you'd see quite clearly that he'd got VERY intimate with his throw. Often arms he'd try as well, especially in the bathroom...

He was neutered, he just liked to sex things up!

When he went for arms, you'd sometimes get "treated" to a scream (not doubt as to the tone!) Before he'd try and er.. mount...

Aforementioned dirty old man ragdoll in my above post would do that as he "enjoyed" his throw!! These big blue eyes staring at you as he enjoyed himself were rather disconcerting!
