Do you think of yourself as your cat’s mum?

I do and I used a surrogate to give birth to my biological cat.
Or do we have some cat mum’s here who actually gave birth to their cats (babies)?

If I was in the hugely unlikely situation of finding both my son and my cat in danger and only having time to save one of them, I would fairly unhesitatingly save my son. So I suppose that means I don’t really see my cat as my child.

If CatOfHate was remotely comparable to a child, I would be cat-free as well as child-free.

I am his human and he is my cat. Legally, I own him, but in practice, he owns himself.

In actual fact, he owns you!! 😂

I don’t have a cat (yet!) but my Guinea Pigs were my babies and I was their Mummy Pig.

Before Pigs I used to think the whole fur baby thing was cringe but about 12 seconds after getting my boys I totally understood it.

The term fur babies I do not like, my kitten is my little angel but not comparable to my children, as a previous poster pointed out if I could only save one of them it would always be my child, equally I would die for my child but not my cat.

My partner refers to us as mum/ dad when he's talking to the cats*... so when boy cat is being a 5am pain in the arse and wailing for food or attention I will hear him mutter "you'll have to go and ask your mother!"

*I have told my partner that if he ever does that in front of another human being I will disown him because I think it's cringe!!

I refer to my cats as my boys/ sons and I am their mummy. I obviously know I am not their biological mum 😅 I didn’t know this was weird. I also have my actual biological sons.

OH calls himself daddy and talks about the cat as if the cat is talking to him, usually being quite rude.

One of my cats has conversations with me lol!

Usually when she wants tuna. She rubs round my legs, chirps at me and leads me to the kitchen. I ask her to 'speak' to get it and she obliges!!!

My kittens are called babies because they are little 🥰. But I'm not their mum.

They are totally beautiful and the best cats ever. Of course.

My DS - young adult - commented this week 'I know how those parents feel now, the ones who love their kids so much that they can never do anything wrong, even if they are little shits. It's not their fault and you'd fight anyone who said they were naughty ' 😂😂😂😂😂😂 god he's going to be a terrible parent 😂

But no, I'm not their mum. And they are cats not fur babies.
