Where do you put litter tray if you have no utility room?

So I don't have a utility room and have just got a kitten. I literally don't know where to put her litter tray. I don't really like he idea of it sitting there in view in the kitchen , but where else could I put it? I was thinking of getting a little cat hut type thing and putting it inside that and have that in the kitchen.
Ideally I would love her to be able to go to the toilet outside and let me know when she needs to go but thats just wishful thinking at the moment. Plus she will probably be an inside cat anyway.

I put mine in the bathroom/toilet.

Forgot to mention - we need a photo!

Cupboard under the stairs, it has a cat flap in and is known at the cats en-suite. DH tool boxes are the other things kept in there.

Yes this. It lives in our en suite now. Wouldn’t want it anywhere near the kitchen.

And utility is where her food is so wouldn’t want it there anyway.

One in the hall and one in the kitchen. Both have lids and a flap. 2 cats. They do go outdoors but still use the litter trays - which i prefer as I don't want the neighbours having to deal with poo in their gardens.

Shes gorgeous!!

Our litter tray is in the bathroom.

dementedpixie · 01/11/2024 11:39

Ours was in the kitchen. It was quite a big open plan kitchen so nowhere near food prep areas

Awwwwwwwwwww so adorable. Mine is in the kitchen by the back door.

In the hall by the front door, I live in a flat so once I'm in I don't ever go past it or see it.
Bathroom is a no go as standing on cat litter in bare feet isn't nice, also not in spare room as that's where my clothes rail and airer is.
There's plenty of litter trays that are more decorative and can be hidden inside furniture available.

Esgaroth · 01/11/2024 12:07

Ours is in the basement, at the foot of the stairs going down. I think a hallway/landing is quite a good option. Still trying to work out the best way to stop little bits of litter getting all over the place, though.

We do have a little utility room but his food and water's in there and I heard they don't like to eat and toilet in the same area.

Scampuss · 01/11/2024 12:13

Mine is tucked away in a corner of the breakfast room (aka glorified hallway next to the kitchen). If I had to have it in a room in regular use I'd probably invest in one of Omlet's litter tray cupboards.

coffeesaveslives · 01/11/2024 15:47

In the cupboard under the stairs and in the corner of the living room in a little tucked away corner area.

Toddlerteaplease · 01/11/2024 16:35

Kitchen.

Nannyfannybanny · 01/11/2024 16:39

Well, I think the best place for that gorgeous kitty is in my house! We had one with a fancy top like a animal carrier, never got litter everywhere. Bathroom, hall, wherever you have space

Marblesbackagain · 01/11/2024 16:40

Ensuite.

PaminaMozart · 01/11/2024 16:43

Bathroom. I deliberately chose a hanging vanity/sink so there'd be room for a litter tray - with hood - beneath it. It's next to the loo and I use flushable litter, so it's very easy to clean up whenever Madam does a #2.

In the kitchen, by the back door & nowhere near her or my food. I WFH & pick up poo as soon as I see it so it never smells for long.

Brilliant idea

Joyfuljoyce · 01/11/2024 17:04

Why don’t you get one of those cat litter cabinets with a little door? They just look like normal furniture. I’m thinking of getting one for ours which is in the bathroom.

Exactly the same

LondonJax · 01/11/2024 17:21

We got one like this 7 years ago. Still going strong. Any smells are kept inside it (there's a carbon strip thing on the top that you change every few months to keep it fresh). Easy to keep clean as the top comes off and the cat can't spray cat litter everywhere. Our cat likes it - she seems to like the privacy!

It sits in our downstairs loo area.

Mine is in the kitchen because it's the only place I have for it.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 01/11/2024 17:31

In the bathroom although I was told on here that it’s disgusting to have it there. I couldn’t understand it, it seems the logical place to me!
