Where do you put litter tray if you have no utility room?

So I don't have a utility room and have just got a kitten. I literally don't know where to put her litter tray. I don't really like he idea of it sitting there in view in the kitchen , but where else could I put it? I was thinking of getting a little cat hut type thing and putting it inside that and have that in the kitchen.
Ideally I would love her to be able to go to the toilet outside and let me know when she needs to go but thats just wishful thinking at the moment. Plus she will probably be an inside cat anyway.

Kitchen but our two only have a tray because they are both elderly and not as keen to use the cat door. (Also had a family of 4 foxes in our garden in the summer, so maybe they were scared to go out.) One, at least, will wee / poo in inappropriate places now too (maybe slight dementia), so we tend to keep them in the kitchen at the moment as it's easier to clean.

As kittens they were kept in the living room until they were able to go outside as we could shut them in there with a litter tray. No access to front or back doors.

Cupboard under the stairs, it has a cat flap in and is known at the cats en-suite. DH tool boxes are the other things kept in there.

We did this for ours , and fitted the cat door as well but the fusebox is in there and I was a bit wary in case they chewed something so we stopped using it .

Ours in in the hall , two trays , one deep large (female) , one is massive(male) ( it;s actually an underbed storage tray with the wheels off ) .
The female sometimes uses her brothers tray but they won;t share the big one

This is her 💗

You could put her litter tray in my house, along with her please?? She’s adorable and you’ve awoken my dormant broodiness for a grey kitten.

I've got a really small house, so have one litter robot in hallway at top of stairs. In my room, I have another litter robot and a normal covered cat litter tray. Not the best, but needs must.

Get a lidded one? Helps contain the smell and the litter.

Ours is in the bathroom, we went for a triangular one to maximise space and have settled on Cats Best sensitive litter after older girl cat had some skin issues. We tried special kitten litter when we got Boy cat just before Lockdown One but he loathed it, then had a spate of Catsan and whatever we could get during the pandemic but both seem to do well with Cats Best and it doesn't seem to smell as much either. We do clear any offerings every time we go to the loo which helps and a very thorough clean weekly.

Your new ruler of the home, sorry, kitten is so gorgeous!

Surely utility rooms are for dirty clothes, once they are washed/dried, they go into wardrobes or chest of drawers. Not everyone has a garage, and aren't puppy pads non biodegradable. You can't put cat faeces down a human toilet,it's not allowed.

We have driers in our utility rooms as well and tend to keep the ironing and steaming equipment there.

Puppy pads go in the washing machine and are reused. They last many years. We put the faeces in a feline waste disposal unit.

Bathroom. We built in a cupboard under the sink drawer so it all looked fitted and hidden.

Ours doesn’t really use his anymore as uses the woods behind house. But it’s still there for emergency as it’s hidden it’s fine to stay. But they used the first 2 years a lot

I dont have cats, but in the past I've been a lodger at houses with cats. One kept the litter tray in the bathroom, and one kept the litter tray in the kitchen by the back door. To be fair, it was a very large kitchen, and the litter tray was as far from the food prep area as possible. At least 15 feet away, and tucked around a corner, so i didn't have an issue with it.

In the bathroom. Our cat's tray is currently near the front door, which we never open (we only ever use the back door)

I have one in the utility, 2 under thr stairs and one on the little second landing. Used to have one in the kitchen, but it was a big kitchen

Why don’t you get one of those cat litter cabinets with a little door? They just look like normal furniture. I’m thinking of getting one for ours which is in the bathroom.

We have one of these from Next i think. It's in the corner of the kitchen and has the printer and some board games on top of it. You would never know it has a litter tray inside.

Gouldstarr · 03/11/2024 15:59

Ours is in the garage. We added a cat flap to the internal garage door so they can access it freely. Has been the perfect solution to unpleasant odours!

Moveoverdarlin · 03/11/2024 16:01

I’ve always had cats but never had a litter tray, aside from the kitten stage. She has a cat flap and wees and poohs in the garden.
