Passports, buckets and spades - the Excellent Cats go on their holidays

The last thread filled up very quickly, mainly thanks to Gizmo's adventures. He is now a fully-fledged Excellent Cat.

And it's allegedly summertime so Ho for the Hols!

Ok @Judystilldreamsofhorses I now have cat house and wardrobe envy! I just want your life 😊. In the meantime I am making do with the mad Mau known as Elton

My two would like to demonstrate how much they love the new £500 cat bed that I got for them...

Oh and that they let me sleep in of a night if I am very very good.

I only had Instagram so I could keep an eye on DS when he first started using it.

The amount of cats on there is amazing - I'm hooked 😂

Thanks so much - my other board on here is Style and Beauty, but please rest assured everything is liberally coated in a thick layer of cat hair. Elton is delightful and I bet his hair is far less prominent on all of your clothes.

@Kittensat36 well done for being a good cat slave and getting those beauties a comfy bed. I’m sure the poor things have no other options in your home to rest their weary heads on.

Thanks very much @Judystilldreamsofhorses . Obviously, they still have their rusty bed of nails and the single brick to sleep on, but the new mattress is proving a hit with them, next door's Tom and a random stray.

I plan to email the manufacturer to suggest that they might start making pillow sized versions for ruined cats. It's stuffed with hemp fibre, I think that is the attraction.

@LostCats thank you so much for asking! He is doing very well at the moment in himself - as you can see he's full of beans 😄. His bloods are still not great but he's gained weight and is eating and sleeping well. The vet has suggested we start with Subcutaneous fluids to help with the CKD but we are not getting very far as he is too active and wily to submit - he has actually worked out how to retract his scruff so we have no pouch to inject into. I still get very sad when I think about the future but am trying to take a leaf out of Elton's book and live in the now!

@Spandauer unfortunately as much as I would love to get Elton in full costume he'd have my face off!

They seem so peaceful. Until you try to do something they disagree with.

Exactly - Elton is the most affectionate biddable cat as long as we stay in our lane. If we overstep the mark, then he quickly reverts to the wild little street cat he once was. It's actually quite impressive for such an undersized and underpowered little animal how much sass he has - he's terrified two vets already!

Tobias (formal name as he's being naughty) and Ghostie are testing my patience today. I am quite busy in work and the little fuckers keep walking and sitting on my keyboard. For now Ghostie has relocated to the shelf above my desk but evil Toby Toad is just being an asshole.

Ah I am glad Puppy. I love Mau’s. They’re so slinky!
My SIL has one in Dubai. And her girl is a proper Arabian Princess. Takes no shiz whatsoever from the dogs in the house and has the humans very well trained.

Sorry, I meant that I am glad he’s good in himself.
Our precious love Boone has a bad spine issue. He is slowly losing weight and his back legs do give him trouble but he is still happy in himself and still wakes me up at 4.30 for early brekkie, then DH at 5.30 for next brekkie before 7.30am proper brekkie 🤣 We give him everything he wants and happy to do extra feeding as we want to slow the weight loss.
He’s currently sleeping happily on the couch and just seeing how happy he is makes all the cost and the worry worth it.
Although don’t get me wrong, he thinks we’re failing in so many ways 🤣

Exactly @LostCats - we can't change the outcome but we can make them as happy as we can - within our obvious limitations! Elton's most recent beef is my insistence on sitting on his (my) office chair to work during the day. The side eye I get is incredible

Ha no @Pudmyboy . The photo was actually taken by my cat sitter who is a fantastic photographer, also adores Elton and has the patience to take a million photos in a row to get the perfect one! Apart from the fact that she and Elton love each other, the best bit of having her to stay is the photos she takes 😀

FFS I think Louie has brought a mouse into our utility room. It’s lashing down so I left him in there about an hour ago sitting at the back door looking sadly out at the rain. When I went through he was going wild trying to get in behind the washing machine, and there were wet paw prints (his) on the floor. After some lengthy dashing around (also his) DP came and removed him from the scene of the crime and has left the back door open for the mouse to “escape” - ??? Louie is sat at the middle door shouting to be let back through.

We have a kind of dry stane dyke type wall between us and next door, and our previous cat occasionally used to get a mouse from it - she would spend hours patrolling it on summer evenings. I’m surprised Louie hasn’t got one before now tbh. S used to kill them outside and play with them, so we’ve never had one in the house before. ARGH.
