Very little information about these cats - mother and daughter Havana Browns.

They are very beautiful and gentle - happy to be picked up already and exploring the room. Mum is much more confident than the daughter.

They're going to the vet this week to get scanned for chips, and a general health check.

Beautiful OSH! Congrats on your new family members! I am a fellow Siamese addict!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/05/2024 20:24

Oooh they are gorgeous , I love their chiselled elongated little faces and yes they do look like the Egyptian Cat Goddess Bast in an earthly form.

Those cats look like they know things Grin

TheHavanaCats · 24/05/2024 21:52

Oh they do @70isaLimitNotaTarget! Mainly how to coerce food out of me though - they worked out my number very quickly 😸

Unfortunately I think the vet trip has brought mum on heat.

I wanted them to be more settled before getting her spayed, but she is very loud and it's a noise we are well used to from our Siameses, but she puts them to shame 🙀

When you say rescue, was it through an actual rescue? as it's very odd that a rescue would let them go unneutered and no vaccs.

TheHavanaCats · 24/05/2024 22:29

No, from a friend of a friend of my SIL. They got (not sure how much they paid, if anything) them from a breeder who was being made homeless.

They quite quickly realised they couldn't cope and my SIL thought of us.

I'm going to try and track down where they were vaccinated, but if no luck will get them re-done soon and get them both spayed.

Thanks for all the updates @TheHavanaCats , have you got names for them yet?

ohthejoys21 · 25/05/2024 22:15

Oriental cats are my favourite. They're beautiful.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/05/2024 23:05

I looked up "Havana Browns"
It seems they are an Oriental (Siamese) crossed with a Black Cat .

So if it is the right mix you will get the character , intelligence and excellance of the Siamese and the downright fabulousness of the BlackCat that every Black Cat owner tells you their cats possess.

When we got our moggies (black cats) I was quite spoiled for choice - I mean open up some rescue sites and there are pages of them .
What settled it was a photo of the females giraffe like neck , she was harnessing her inner Havana Grin

nocoolnamesleft · 25/05/2024 23:13

Oh wow. Bastet is reborn.

TheHavanaCats · 26/05/2024 12:29

They definitely have the shape of Siamese and the attitude - which I love 😻

They're settling in well but this is their 3rd home in as many weeks so we're taking it very slowly, and definitely won't be introducing them to the rest of our cat family for a while.

Mum is a total poser - she loves the camera 😸

She’s beautiful. Her shiny coat looks amazing in the sunshine.

nocoolnamesleft · 27/05/2024 11:25

Gorgeous.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 27/05/2024 11:45

They are beautiful. Congratulations!

Kittensat36 · 27/05/2024 11:59

Can you tell me which polish you use on your ladies? I've never seen such beautifully shiny cats and my two black babies put the glo into glossy.

soddingkitten · 27/05/2024 16:50

It might be an Oriental/Siamese thing. Our Siamese boy glistens like that when the sun catches his fur at the right angle. His fur also lies flatter to his body than a domestic shorthair and Havanas are the same, from what I’ve seen.

TheHavanaCats · 27/05/2024 17:07

I have had nothing to do with their beautiful fur, as we have only had them for a week.

Mum's fur is very thin though and she has a few weeks bald spots so she is having salmon oil on her food.

I think she has had quite a few litters of kittens, we will get her spayed as soon as possible.

Love her little Bat-Like Face

The glossy fur is thanks to a patented ingredient in Cat Spit . Our old girl could come in with the filthiest paws and 20 minutes later the Power of Cat Spit was better than any of your Ariel or Persil (other detergents are readily available ) could manage . If I could harness the power I'd be a millionaire
(I am not advocating washing little cats paws in detergent powder BTW) .

Our two are jet black and sometimes look like a magpie wing in the sunlight if its their close summer coat .

Lucky cats to find such a lovely home

TheHavanaCats · 27/05/2024 18:02

Thank you @gindreams 😊

Spoiling cats is my favourite hobby 😆😻

They literally look like I imagine ancient Egyptian cats to look 🥰🥰🥰

TheHavanaCats · 30/05/2024 15:37

Some more photos of our beautiful girls - they are settling in really well.
Mum is getting spayed next week, and once she is all healed we'll get the wee one done.

We had a horrendous time a couple of years ago when we got one of ours spayed and she was only glued together.

The glue didn't hold and then she was allergic to the sutures they put in 🙀

It was awful, and we had to take her to a different vet who basically saved her life.

So I'm really paranoid about getting them spayed and will be in a total state next week 🤦‍♀️
